Which they should be applauded for! Because so many people out there just abandon a animal! When there is no need there is so many places you can hand the animal over too!
@@sandeedobberstine5591 Are you kidding me??? Missing them??? Have you seen the living conditions of those poor dogs??? Do you think his heart thought it was loving to leave his dogs outside in winter in the wet cold mud???? You could see the dogs had never been inside before at their reaction when Lee took them into the house….
@@lunagitana5 What you need is a ,,search and rescue,, mission. Rescue them off the street, spay them, then let them back out if you can't re-home them. A big job , for a big volunteer outfit.
To be surrounded by ALL those beautiful animals must feel like you've died and gone to heaven, keep doing what you do Lee also thank you to ALL your helpers and staff at the fantastic Asher house ✌️
I second the comments below. Surrendering these babies was an act of love! They will have a fine life at Asher House or another home with families who love them. Lee has a great feel for canine think!
Thank you for all you do! I began watching because my mom was a huge animal person and y'all share a first name. I love how you treat the pack. If I were doing it, I would take the first hour of the day saying good morning to them all, complete with hugs. That thought alone makes me smile. Thank you!
im so happy to see that gentleman give up his animals before they ended up very neglected. So many times people just let there animals rot for no reason.
You are such a goooood person! I live in France and I’m a forster family for an association named Ginéta, I love my dedication and you are my Gandi. « tu es une TRÈS BELLE personne. « I love what we do! Marie- Laure from France.
Doggie smooches from South Australia 🐨🐨. How do you pay for all the food, Lee?? We have a new puppy, first time for our family...always had cats. She's so calm for a pup, which we are sooo grateful for coz we are all ADHD, chaotic at times but mostly low energy... Struggling a bit with toilet training, but have her down to 2 areas of puppy pads which I can manage. It'll be much better once she's finished her immunisations so we can take her for walks to the dog park near us. She's a Husky cross German Shepherd/Dingo. She's pure white at the moment 🐨🐨. Blessings to you & your team 😎
Even if they don't love the dog and they just want to get rid of it for whatever reason, we should just be grateful they contacted a sanctuary instead of abandoning or killing the dog.
I always feel gratitude towards people who are able to admit when they can't look after their animal properly. They're not bad people, they just took in something that was too much for them. It takes a lot of strength of character to admit when you're in the wrong and even more strength to surrender your animal because you know they would have a better life elsewhere
I have lived in my car for 7 years because id rather live in a car with my 2 dogs ( one died from bone cancer 4 yrs ago ) than in a PALACE WITHOUT THEM
I’m so grateful that the previous owner cared enough to contact you and not just drop them off at a kill shelter or abandon them on the streets. He seemed to care but to not be equipped to care for them as he knew he should. Props to you and to him. Beautiful, lucky pups!
He reminds me of the pied piper, they are drawn to him, as he is to them. He has space in his heart to greet them individually and make the feel special.. It's doggy heaven
They looked well cared for. No matter how poor we were growing up we always looked after our pets and our parents always said we'd get rid of ye lot before we'd get rid of the pets.
@@verali164 they weren’t well cared for….at all. Jules, the bloodhound was so neglected, she ended up spending 4 days at the vet, because she had multiple infections, was completely dehydrated & was in constant pain. There’s a reason Lee gave that disclaimer at the end of video….people lie, especially when they’re surrendering animals. That poor dog “looked healthy”, but in all actuality, she was miserable.
I've seen so many instances where people just dump their animals when they don't want them anymore and it's heartbreaking! So, whatever thier situation, I appreciate when people reach out for help to find someone else who can give them a better life. These are gorgeous dogs, and they will be safe and well cared for with you Lee. You never cease to amaze me. Thank you for your kindness and all you do♥️
Yes, the word needs to get out that there are so many people worth stepping in and helping. Well, I so God hope so. I know I do when I can. This man is a Godsend.
So glad the owner gave the dogs to you. So amazing that the older two had never been inside a home. The younger pup is much more "go with the flow" due to his/her age. As always, thank you for rescuing them and providing them with a loving home.
Thanks so much Lee for rescuing these 3 Babies - they are so precious and sweet - I've had Great Pyrenees before - they are Beautiful Loving White Soft Gentle Giants - such kindhearted loving dogs - so looking forward with these new doggies new best lives with you and their new pack - can't wait for them to make new friends, run free, and live indoors. Love and Blessings to all🥰🥰🥰🥰
Years ago my husband and my kids and I went through some EXTREMELY hard times. We were facing homelessness and we had 2 dogs. Our dogs were LITERALLY our babies we loved them so so so so much but not knowing what we were going to do or where we were going to go we knew we had to find good homes for our dogs and that was the hardest most heartbreaking thing I had to ever do! I didn’t want to give up my babies but I had no other choice in the matter. Luckily God sent people into our lives that were about as perfect as could be to love our babies! For our Bischon we found a family that had wanted one so bad but couldn’t afford to buy one from a breeder and boy did they spoil her from the moment they met her and our Border Collie who we had the longest was the hardest one because we had him for so long and we had to bring him to the shelter because we couldn’t find anyone to take him. So my husband pulled up to the shelter and was sitting in the parking lot holding Rocky and so desperately NOT wanting to bring him in there when a woman who walked out of the shelter came up to him to see if he was ok and he told her the story of why he was there and let me tell you, God DEFINITELY put that woman there that day! Here she came to the shelter every so often to see if they had any Border Collies she could adopt because she had a big farm and she rescued Border Collies! What an amazing miracle! So she took Rocky to her amazing farm! She had sent me updates for quite awhile and Rocky was so happy there! So as Lee said sometimes people fall on hard times and things happen that are out of our control. So also as Lee said you shouldn’t judge until you walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. I am so grateful for people like the ones who took our babies and Lee. They make the world a much better place ❤
I understand people fall on hard times & have to rehome their pets…but unless you’d give away actual children, claiming your dogs were “LITERALLY your babies” is just not true.
I am so glad the lady sent you updates on your pup. I cannot even imagine how hard it must have been to give up your dogs. But you did the right thing and the Universe was looking out for them. Neither one had to experience being in a shelter.
I’m happy for you that you found the right people at the right time for your dogs! And I hope for you as a family that you could overcome the difficult circumstances and that you have a safe (safer?) home now.
@@isitoveryet9525 well maybe in your experience but not mine. Also, how do you know how I feel? And who are you to say that it is true or untrue in MY situation? Do you feel awesome having said you backhanded comment? What was the point? Do you feel like the big keyboard warrior you are? Didn’t your parents ever teach you that if you don’t have anything nice to say why say anything at all? Usually I just let comments like these go BUT yours just needed to be answered! I guess I am just sick and tired of seeing complete strangers saying things so rudely for absolutely no personal gain at all! I also guess that it is because I don’t do those things to people unless I can see that what they did or said was something pretty bad. Oh well hope you got whatever it was you needed to get out of your system. Have a lovely day.
@@eleanorlyndon865 I had a problem with that too. That's one thing I can't help but be judgemental about. As Lee said though, it's best to just get them out quickly.
@@eleanorlyndon865 quite alot of people dont let their dogs in the house, its so odd to me but they build them out door sheds etc maybe they just were nervous about being in a house with that many smells of other dogs he did say they were uneasy or maybe they havent been in a home with wooden floors? 😂
These new rescues are well socialized so credit to the previous owner for doing that. These dogs are also in good body condition and very sweet. There but for the grace of God go I. Bless you, Lee, for your compassion and grace, may you continue to thrive with your pack at the Sanctuary for as long as you wish to do this incredible work.💕
Its not fair to judge this man's situation when you probably don't know all it involves. Most times people don't tell you how bad their problems really are. He loved them enough to find them a safe place to go, so in my book he did the best thing. I'm sure he feels bad enough already. Give people a break, these dogs were well fed, and even spayed so you know they were cared for before he gave them up. Just my opinion.
Thank you, Lee. I live in Toronto, Canada. We're having a big problem now with people dumping the pets they got to keep them company while they worked at home during the pandemic. They're now dumping these poor animals in local woods and ravine parkland in and around the city. Some of them are found and rescued by Toronto Animal Services, but we can be sure some of them are not. I'm sure this kind of thing is happening all over. This was predicted when the sales from breeders and adoptions from Toronto Humane Society and other local animal shelters were skyrocketing and people were complaining that those shelters were being too stringent in their adoption policies. This didn't have to happen, if people weren't so short-sighted and selfish. So yes, I'm being judgmental of them, because they should know better. You don't dump your family in the woods with coyotes and foxes, and leave them to suffer. Sorry, Lee, it just hurts to see this. I had my cat that I found as an abandoned 8-week old kitten near the local ravine. If I hadn't taken her home with me, she would have been a fox's snack. She was with me for 18 years, and I had to put her to sleep in September 2020, as she was dying. I had to hand her over to the vet at the door, couldn't be with her, because of covid. It broke my heart that I couldn't hold her as she went to sleep. I still miss her, and I thought I would maybe get another cat, adopt a senior cat, but I know now I can't afford it anymore. I'm grateful to you and all the other people out there providing love and shelter to all the wonderful doggies and cats - and other critters. Thank you!
It's true, I recently adopted a second dog from the Toronto Humane Society and it was utterly heartbreaking to see all the "purebred" dogs that were there. They were all between the ages of two and three. Gorgeous dogs that were bred out of greed and selfishness and are now paying the price for human callousness. Both of my dogs are rescues and I am so grateful for them. They are both gorgeous and whenever some snotty person with their designer dog asks me what breed they are I always say the best kind. Sometimes when I see dog owners that clearly think of their dog as an accessory I explain that owners like me are the ones that have to correct all the horrible mistakes they make on such impulsive buys. My first dog was two years old when I got her and in fairness she didn't have any trust issues but she was in no way house trained AT all! She wasn't socialized and could not even walk on a leash. My second dog is about a year and a half from a reserve and Im pretty sure she was used to fight other dogs. She is a beautiful pittie mix with part of her ear missing and because of that she is highly fearful of other dogs. Doesn't matter if they are big or small. This is difficult because fear looks like aggresssion and there is already so much stigmatization she faces already, she is the biggest sucky cuddle bug you would ever meet. Thank you for rescuing your cat and giving her a good life
@@JB-nr7iy I just get so angry and heartbroken about it all. I have to focus on the good people like you and Lee Asher that are helping. Your doggies sound wonderful. Pitties are the sweetest bears. I was so heartened when the dogs rescued from a fighting ring in Tilbury back in 2016 were saved by Dog Tales Sanctuary near King City, and then rehabilitated at the facility in Florida run by Dogs Playing for Life. Those poor dogs went through so much, and now they're living well. I just have to keep believing in good people.
When people say they have a difficult time giving up their dog(s) and that they are their babies, perhaps what they are really feeling is defeated in their own lives. It is a reflection of them not being in a good place so the compassion for the owners comes with that understanding. Does that make sense?
Glad you can give this service to animals. Many of us seniors find ourselves having to make hard decisions. We no longer can afford the excessive vet bills; the high or price of food or expense of groomers. It's either, being able to afford our meds; food; medical care or taking care of our fur baby. I personally chose to take care of my very ill Izzy over what I needed. She was a very tough Lhasa Apso, but lost her battle with her illnesses. I've never regretted my decision. When she passed, a piece of my soul went with her. I'm now trying to deal with my issues I put aside. So, I honor any decision you must make. God bless Asher House.❤
Glad you took them. I'm very stressed and going through a hard time, but my dog, I would never give up! My dog is what keeps me here, and going. It would be more stressful to not have her by my side!
They are amazing!! I love how the puppy went right to Poppy. You have such a great sense of what the new family members need. You keep amazing me with every new family member added!! I love watching you do your thing, love ya!!❤️🥰❤️🥰
5:18 I love seeing Ms. Bloodhound doing her sniffing duties. What a doll. I agree, that there's Great Pyrenees in the white pup and a lot in the mix. They've really got a great future with Asher House😊
From now on, these three dogs will be living in the best home they can ever dream of in their doggie dreams, thanks to Lee. Their best years are still ahead and they deserve it. I'm so happy for them.
It’s so helpful when you explain why you are doing something. You told us you kept the new dogs in the fenced area so they could smell their surroundings and the pack. That helped them calm down. You really know dog psychology and what is best for them as new members of your rescue. We all see how much better every dog is once they are rehabilitated by your program. I loved seeing Mildred jumping and playing with other dogs. A few months ago, she could barely walk. God bless you, Lee.
I went from being a dog rescuer, leading a local rescue organisation to falling on hard times, it broke every part of my heart to have to give up my dogs but it happens to the best of us.
@T R Even if you have to end up giving him the cheapest cat food ever, he will still have your love and care. Almost as important for any animal as food. Not quite, but not far off ! 🤗♥️
The bloodhound adult certainly has been well fed and the Husky/Pyrenees is not thin either. There are plenty of people in Search and Rescue that probably would not mind adopting that bloodhound puppy for trailing work.
Those two doggoes look so pleased to see Lee back. And he,d only just been gone for a pack walk. ! Seems they already recognise he,s their new ,Guy,, ,and that they've landed on their feet. Dogs just Know.
I just love how you use the pitch of your voice, high or low, always right at the best moment. Like when you meet the dogs, high pitch « hey baby, hey doggies » cause you are a big tall man and it could be intimidating for some dogs…. Then the low pitch ‘you are ok » to a nervous dog. You have nailed this tool well.
They didn't look in bad condition, they seemed fed and at least they were spayed which a lot of owners don't do unfortunately. They weren't in the right place for them but the former owner did do the right thing and admit they couldn't look after them and give them what they needed, so gave them up to someone he knew would do right by them. I'd be gutted if I had to give my dogs up, but if I became sick or financially couldn't give them what they need I'd make the hard choice. There is no shame in giving dogs up if it's for the right reasons.
I love how the two little dogs went up to the new dogs telling them "Yes come in". "We all come in the house at night to to be safe and keep Dad safe while we sleep until morning".
You just know sometime that the people are just not dog people. We have two of the best Dobermans ever that came to us the same way. We were told they just didn't have time. To me it's like saying, I don't have time for my children. Our fur babies are one of our greatest treasures.
I got a Bloodhound that looked just like yours. Her name was Daisy. She came to me as a very nervous dog, she only loved the family. Guests that came over she would hide from and peek around corners at them. She was great
I try not to judge because no one is in their shoes. I do give grace when they do the right thing and surrender to a shelter or sanctuary like yours. The jerks that dump or harm or leave to starve get no grace from me. Karma comes around. Thank you for being the model for animal rescue and rehoming. Can't wait to see them blossom and get names.
Total respect for the gentleman giving the dogs to Asher House. He has a good soul. Hopefully he will follow their stories and realize that the dogs will be living their best lives with Lee and they could not have ended up in a better home with a better human.
Bless you Lee. They were so scared to come in the house. I'm glad you explained about that at the end, I would have believed what that guy said saying they were his babies, but you would have seen his situation.
Lee I swear you are one of the luckiest guys to get to have all these beautiful animals in your life. These are very beautiful dogs! The Pyrenees looking one was scared to come into the house. You could tell he probably was never in a house ever. I am so happy you have them. So many fur babies to cuddle with. Lucky you! Take care Lee. Again Thank you for taking them in.
Hi Lee I think you are a true diamond and you certainly have a huge heart and are very gd with animals and I know all the animals you rescue will have a brilliant life .x
I have a lot of rescues/adopted both for dogs and cats too and do feed other dogs/cats ..so tiring and exhausting but able to survive and somehow have my happy moments with them as i have no fam of my own at 55 living solo yet my 'fur babies' keep me company so dont feel lonely at all👍❤️🤗🇵🇭 keep saving them Lee as they deserve a good life too.🤩
I agree with the no judgement aspect. I see this on NextDoor all the time where someone is rehoming their dog and people get so upset. If they don't want the dog for whatever reason or can't care for the dog, the dog is better with someone else. I am just happy these people aren't just dumping their dogs in the boonies somewhere.
Lee. Great work. Those little guys are free and going to love the sanctuary. May God bless you for doing his work. Saving those babies is a miracle every time. The pack continues to grow, I sincerely hope you have help because it is hard work to care for and feed that many beautiful animals. Every one is unique and very special. Thank you for all you do.
You, amongst thousands that do what you do everyday Lee, understand how you just want the pup and let's go! I always fear the words"you know what, I can't do this right now, but I'll call you" as you're loading up the pup/pups. I don't want any dead air between us as we're walking towards better pastures and a caring home. If he really cared, those pups wouldn't be living outside in cold, muddy, and wet conditions. Thank you for what you do, Lee 👍👏🙏
I feel bad for anyone who felt they could no longer take care of their dogs and have to give them up. Sad for the dogs, who love you even when you are not the greatest human. But I love that you got them - your property is beautiful and what you do is amazing. Your voice when you talk to them - is so sweet! You are the dog whisperer!
Lee you have a gift with these dogs,it is sad to see that they hadn't had the luxury of being in a house, but you have changed that. They are going to have their best life.Thank you Lee.❤️❤️
I don't see a dog being able to come in the house w/ the family he belongs in as a luxury. I see it as a need. The dogs just want to be where their human family(their pack) & any otger pets r . They want to be included in the group dynamic even if they r the only animal in a home where there r only humans. I also love that Lee allows his dogs plentiful access to the outdoors so they don't all hav to comply w/ where the owner is if that is not wet they prefer I wish people who have domesticated animals wud understand their needs & accomodate them bttr.
My dogs have always been my whole world. 9 years ago I lost my job and the next day my husband, who was deployed with the US Navy on a ship, emailed me to tell me he wanted a divorce. We had three rescue dogs who he wasn't able to care for due to his military status. In 48 hours I lost my home, my job and my marriage. I had to move in with my parents across the country at 36 years old to keep my three dogs, a Rottweiler mix, a lab chow mix and a husky mix. Three big dogs, one who had been severely abused, one who had been returned to the shelter and rehomed multiple times, and my third baby who showed aggression towards other dogs and animals. If my parents hadn't taken me in, I'd have ended up in a small apartment with three really big dogs who wouldn't have been allowed, in a hotel while I looked for a job that could support me and my three fur babies or on the street. Personally, my dogs will leave my side over my dead body, they are my children. And even then, I have a contingency plan (well now I do!) But like Lee said, in rescue, get the dog and get out. Not everyone has the patience or quite frankly what it takes to rehabilitate the abused, the difficult cases, those who need extra attention, love, care and even those animals who are just a little quirky,. different or didn't get a fair shot out of the gate. I go to the local animal shelter weekly, and I see new surrenders. I hear reasons like "she was too skittish" or "he jumped our fence." I'm just shocked and astounded by the reasons people surrender their dogs. It's just not right. And here Lee is righting the wrongs of all of these people. RIP Bailey, Foxy and Daisy. Mommy misses you and I have and always will continue rescuing as long as I can keep taking care of the fur babies and of myself.
I gave a baby up for adoption and the process required for potential parents to get approved in that process is astounding and the same level of scrutiny should be applied to anyone wanting a dog/pet (and just anyone who wants to be a parent, in general, but that's a whole other issue). Too many idiots just get dogs because they're cute and think they're going to be self-sufficient and won't require any effort or that if its difficult or they have issues that the solution is to abandon them. Even dog owners that don't teach their dogs any manners or try to teach basic commands. ALL dogs are teachable; even the most aggressive or scared or whatever. It can be done. Educate yourself before making such a huge commitment.
Hi Lee, Thank you. It's fantastic when even after one day at your sanctuary, dogs that are traumatised begin to act normally again, you do amazing work, you deserve all the assistance we can give. Great posts
God bless all the animals and all the animal lovers 🥰❤️💕🙏👼🏼🌹the best thing the owner did is to phone you & not just abandoned them in the mountains or somewhere else.; those beautiful doggies will be happy 💕
At what point will you run out of room inside the house for the many dogs that you keep adding? Are some of them ever adopted out like the husky puppies were?
