One idea could be make the subathon focused around bro vs bro. Each day you would face a new streamer, and rather than betting shoes or subs, you wager one day of the stream. So everytime you win, the person you beat has to take over the stream for the entire next day. This would provide a variety of content and allow for you to get breaks from the constant streaming. I expect to get paid for this idea

Crazy idea. Send your roommates/friends/other streamers to different countries around the world and do a "pass the torch" subathon. Rather than sleeping on stream, pass the stream on to someone in a different time zone. The longer the subathon lasts, the longer everyone has to stay abroad.

Would be cool to see a charity subathon where the charity changes every 24 hours. Transparent, helps multiple different charities and people who are passionate about one charity but not so much the others may be inclined to support certain days. Could also be used as a rough metric for seeing which charities your community/the RU-vid community overall feels the most passionate about.

You're a golden lad, through and through. Keep it up!

Knowingly lying about the amount of money you made from said subathon for more then a week and then bashing out at the guy who corrected the numbers, stealing others work by reacting to it, justifying reactions and people reacting by saying that we only need to make companies do everything, and no creator should be responsible for doing immoral things, the list goes on and on. Ludwig isn't a great person is what I'm saying. He lives in his bubble. And I'm sure he's not a terrible person either, but don't praise him for doing things that ultimately benefit himself more than anything.

@@дигл_лайв Hey, at least he owns up to mistakes. I praised him for the things he did right in this moment, and called him my favorite content creator, not a great person. While at the same time also making it into a joke and not a big deal. He never apologized to that guy, and as I said, even called him out a year later for being "wildly inaccurate", completely ignoring that guys good faith work.
@дигл_лайв
@дигл_лайв 2 года назад
@@kowal2486 what does it have to do with Nintendo? It's just what it is - reacting is stealing. RU-vidrs don't get money from exposure, and unlike videogames, you don't get a different experience by watching the video yourself compared to watching a reaction. Even though letsplays also have questionable morality, both parties (letsplayers and videogame creators) seem to benefit from this, so it's fine in my books. RU-vidrs however rarely if at all benefit from reactions to their content, which was proven time and time again.

I like the idea of having a huge empty room with a giant wheel that you spin when sub goals are reached. The wheel is filled with individual tasks which must be completed as quickly as possible. When the task is completed a picture of you completing the task is printed out and posted to the wall to show all the accomplishments done during the stream. Task could be irl or gaming related and possibly a list could be generated with the help of friends, mods, and chat months in advance through a Google forum thing possibly try to make some of the tasks chat interactive. This gives the stream the goal of completing the most amount of tasks in the allotted time of the subathon and shows a progression of how the subathon went by the end of the stream by a cool room filled with achievements.

I got to watch someone I've never met make their goals and dreams come true and we donated a heck ton to charity. There was drama, there was intrigue, there was so much fun, I found track mania and valorant that I still love from seeing you play it in the subathon. I think adding the elements of escape puzzles could be fun. Like "in order to end this subathon i have to solve a series of puzzles, beat this series of game, and solve the final riddle" Something where there is a natural progression and the next "challenge" to do / beat. Some good games are the classic jump king, polybridge?, Myst (hard classic puzzle game), elden ring / dark souls, beating melee all-star with all characters? Some cool puzzles are mechanical puzzles on amazon or online somewhere else (these are physical puzzles that you can passively do on stream). And the final riddle can be kinda like a treasure hunt or elaborate ending to the entire event (solve part 1 to get a long/lat, go there to find the next piece, etc) something like "the final adventure to end the stream" You could add more abstract things like (break a WR, face a fear, reach a new personal best, etc.) this would give more variability and you can try different things for each category.

If you look at the guy who's riding around Japan, he's figured out something quite unique to him. Not only would most streamers not ride around their city for money, but they also don't live in Japan, which is just a cooler place to be lol. I feel like you could use LA as your backdrop. I think doing stuff IRL is the key. Especially if you're not looking to retread old ground, this subathon should not be in front of your computer or even in your streaming room. I think you shine when you're interacting with others, so perhaps there could be a way to include other streamers at times? Or just other regular people lol. Also would this be a capped or uncapped subathon? Because if you could ideally plan stuff ahead of time and have a schedule, it would make people hyped to watch. IDK that's all I got!

YES! I suggested something in my own comment but it would work perfect with yours… Why does a subathon have to be a constant 24/7 live? Yeah if it’s for charity he could do a thing when he needs a break, needs to prepare something, or just wants to bring on other creators, where he can let someone else takeover the stream for 30min or so. I think the peak version of a subathon is having a Truman show style setup. A camera in every new room of the house, maybe two. That way we’re able to actually follow a person living their life instead of them just sitting at a chair for unreasonable amounts of time. It would also be much more dynamic to have some sort of portable stream deck that you could easily switch to the cameras as you switch rooms. It’s probably too expensive to produce something like that, but I think that is the future of 24/7 live steaming.

The appeal to me for subathons was just being able to assume someone was live. Not having to worry about schedules, inconsistent streamers, time zones and whatever, you can just tune into “THE PointCrow stream”, because of the 24/7 uptime. That’s honestly worth quite a lot.

Also PointCrow had a good scheduling system that made use of the working force of his mods and friends to keep doing content while he was away from the camera. Do a subathon so that viewers can add time to the stream by contributing to the community. Viewers could go out and volunteer or do an activity that benefits their city. You could partner with an association that could verify viewer's participation and have each hour count as an amount of time added to the stream. Another way is you could also have viewers subscribe to a smaller streamer you pick each day or week and every sub they gain could add time as well. Just some ideas!

Awesome idea! Pointcrow just did a subathon with a twist, every sub spun a wheel for a random amount of time added to the clock, with a small chance for a “legendary” roll that added 5 minutes to the clock. I thought it was a really cool idea that added some fun to the timer aspect. You could also give time, say modcast hours, to the charities themselves/streamers partnered with those charities and they could do q&a or something

As a fan of your's, I'll admit that I've felt the same doubts you have about whether the subathon was draining money from your fans. Especially because not all, but some of the content was filling airtime. I'm really glad that you shared your feelings on it, because I think it means a lot that a content creator at least takes the time to deeply contemplate the ethics of being funding by viewers, regardless of what decisions you ultimately make. Thank you Ludwig, I've gained even more respect for you as a creator, and hope I can support you even more now :) And yeah, I think a charity subathon, that is more curated rather than just chatting, is an excellent idea! I fully support that, and look forward to seeing any plans you make in the future!

I came up with this idea(While watching this video) for an inceptathon where basically it's like a normal subathon but instead of sleep streams or breaks a group of streamers basically take shifts while the others are resting/sleep/eating/whatever else. This way there's at least always someone trying to make content on stream. I think this is a cool way for someone like you(ludwig) to promote creators smaller then them in a similar way to how you did it with the Top Gun comp.

Your subathon inspired me to do a 30-day stream in January, subs added to the time, but it wasn’t about money or subs, it was about the time, streaming for 30 days was the best time I’ve had on this platform in the past 9 years, waking up and cracking straight into a conversation, I loved it. (The stream actually ended up being 782 hours) However I felt terrible at the end of it, since I didn’t achieve anything, I felt as if I hadn’t provided my viewers decent content for the time they were there. As a result of that feeling, I planned another one for September, a month long stream, but this time with scheduled plans and an idea for content going in, such as involving fellow creators in my niche by having them as guests on a game show. The fact that I have a plan this time is already making me happy, as I’m just able to enjoy my time live with chat.

Could have a marbles vote at the end of each day to for the next days activities. Keeping in mind having each one fully planned out before hand, permissions etc. Rockclimbing, sponanious day/ 2 day trip flying to meet up with x creator or see y landmark, city wide scavenger hunt (like a mini amazing race, having a set up crew always 1 stop ahead of you while doing challenges.), where/what to eat. (keeping in mind getting pre approval to stream, and having options broad enough that it makes sniping events harder.) or I think it could also be cool just having collaborations planned throughout seeing if you can do things with the content creators that inspire you. With little mini charity events, making the overall subation a something for charity, but then providing an additional donations to the charities picked by the person you chose to collaborate with for that days stream. or GWL (Gaming With Ludwig) GDQ but its anything but fast. Where you take us through games you might have found influential to your life. Or bringing in the last one, you pick a collaborator and you play their favorite game, them guiding you through discussing it and its influences on them. (Or yall just spitball podcast style during the playthrough like the grumps or oneyplays. Again donating that days or collabs money to the charity of their choosing.)

Subathon with Truman show style ads, except the ads are small streamers from around your area. Each day or two you rotate in a new streamer in person. The streamer that is rotated in would pick the charity they want donated to for the time they are there. This serves three purposes: 1. Charity 2. Helping build the RU-vid streaming community 3. Having fresh content since the small streamers won’t be exhausted.

Basically pick like 5 or so creators/streamers and let’s say lud is first. If chat let’s his timer run out it automatically goes to the next in line in the 5 or whatever streamers who are part of it. It basically cascades over time. Next at bat if you will. A collective. And this Cascade goes on till the timer hits zero on the last streamer and whichever streamer gets the most time picks a charity for whatever agreed percentage of the total money earned is. Would LOVE this

Maybe you could have the subathon lined up like how a kickstarter campaign works? The more money donated, and more time put up, the longer you're on, and you have a lineup of things to do to get chat excited? Like at X money you'll do bobbing for apples every X amount of money donated after that, or at X money you'll incorporate something into the subathon stream that you do sometimes. Like after 20k dollars or so, you would incorporate chat paintballs Ludwig every 1k or something.

I think this is a really cool idea, particularly when you mentioned Shia LaBeouf. If you remember back in 2016, Shia placed a flag in the middle of a random field. People then worked out where the flag was by looking at the time of sunset and the air-traffic over head. They reached the location and took it down. It was sort of like IRL geoguesser. (Admittedly, the people that did that had some unfortunate views) It would be cool if you did something similar on your stream where you had you and your mods set up flags at a static camera angle and viewers had to go get the flag IRL. If they could post a picture of them with the flag on your subreddit, they win a portion of the proceeds.

I was a huge fan of your first subathon and I think its cool that your considering a second one. I think if you wanted to spice it up you could have a preplanned timeline where donation goals could have events happen or challenges added. Maybe one of the things you could do is play elden ring but if X number of dollars are donated you have to restart, or drop items etc (not to knowledgeable on ER but something like that) It gives people an incentive to donate because it prolongs the stream not from a timer going up but having to endure the challenge. Another ludlocke would also be cool. You could spin a wheel after every gym that adds a restriction to your run, and if X amount is raised chat could add another option to the wheel. Something similar to Jermas dollhouse would be interesting to watch, again goals reached could have events added and maybe one of the goals IS to add another day to the stream. I know not the most in depth idea but something similar to that would be cool to interact with. Just some quick ideas that came to my mind, still whatever you do I'll be looking forward to it.

Not just a "here is XQC cuz he is popular, And do stuff with them, Bro vs Bro or something like a "game show" 2, You could have 3 cameras in the house so you can do stuff in the living room and kitchen in case the room is too small for all the people, 3, have small contests with subs, Like a random battle tournament for the subs but a shorter one. maybe even smash or something, 4. Try out new games for 1 hour, "hopefully indies mostly so it you arent bleeding your wallet out. that way you can give some games a little publicity and help some game devs out. 5. make a weekly schedule, For example, Monday = mostly gaming and whatever on the side, Tuesday is outside day so you spend atleast 3-4 hours outside or working out. and so forth.

What people really cling to psychologically is their influence upon their environment. This is what makes streamers and subathons so appealing: _the accessibility the viewer has to influence._ If there was some way in which people can tangibly see or hear their influence (i.e. r/place) in the form of a stream, I feel like that would at least partially solve the issue of long spans of down time. I also feel like subathons are very tied down to the individual streamer, when I feel like there could be more creativity. Having a *cat/pet subathon, a subathon surrounding a fictional character* (other than a VTuber) or a *subathon with multiple streamers* could be another possibility. Obviously there are a metric shit ton of specifics to iron out in these suggestions.

I think if you're going for public community cam style, it would be really cool / cute to make a robot camera that goes around the country (or just california) with some people you trust, and you hand it off to different content creators in different areas (mainly so that they are a good vehicle for it), and like drop it off at parks / local monuments and stuff, and the charity part decides where the bot goes / what the creator has to do with the bot (like go on a date with it, go to a waterpark, etc), and the bot has the camera feed from its eyes. It would be easiest to ask RU-vid for resources honestly cuz idk where you'd get that 24/7 signal

You should consider a variety subathon. Do 1 week of stream but have the content change on a day to day basis. You stream when you wake up and until you go to sleep for all 7 days, but the subs translate into what you do. For example, on day one you could be *cycling* and have the distance be based on subs, and you can't break unless the subs break. Day 2 you could play games but have more chaos based on the amount of subs, etc. Have subs equal quality, not quantity.

I really liked Quin69s first subathon. It had a proper end goal with killing Maven in POE after which no more time was added to the timer, which made most of the Subathon be nicely concentrated on gameplay. For your next subathon, you should make.... a story? This will have a lot of planning and stuff to do but, I think it's worth it. Also, you should add like, a ton of lore or something, so you can get some theory channels to try and solve the whole thing lol. Or maybe a theory channel will make it's own subathon while your subathon is going so they can dissect your lore bit by bit, live.

Preach Gaming did an interesting subathon, they structured it so each day had a set activity they would do if the stream kept going up to a week. A lot of the things were viewer suggested or things that had been requested previously. For example playing a game that his viewers had wanted him to for a long time. Doing a bad movie watch along (didn’t stream the movie but had a camera facing them while they watched it) he also had to wax his chest at one point. It was interesting because each day was set to be pretty different so even if one day didn’t sound interesting to you as long as it kept going to the next it might be something that you were interested in. All of the money they made ended up going to charity.
