I skated a ton at 225-230, but the pandemic and losing my mom caused me to gain 100lbs over the past couple years. The Twister XT's are pretty good once broken in for big guys. The stock wheels and frames seem to hold the weight well. On a positive note, I'm on a weight loss journey again so I should be back in the mid 200's by spring if everything keeps going well. I can't wait to blade at sub 300 weight again.

I'm 230 6'2" semi athletic. I'm not an aggressive skater but I have an interesting experience. Same as many here, 20 years ago I skated all the time and now just getting back into it. I found the cheap Rollerblade Zetra Blade soft boot skate and started on those for about 5 months. I had a very hard time balancing, skating on one foot, turning, pretty much doing anything. I was really surprised because I usually take to new physical activities and learn new skills easily. My mindset was that if I kept practicing, I would get better, those issues would go away, and I would earn my way to an upgrade. After 5 months I wasn't improving. Out of extreme frustration I almost quit but then watched this video and decided to throw a hail Mary and get an expensive hard boot skate. I went with the Rollerblade Twister XT, size 13 since it has good accessories all around - ready to go - advertised as extra supportive. I couldn't believe the difference. The twisters are incredibly supportive, have a laterally adjustable aluminum frame and come with decent 85a wheels. The Twisters totally fixed 90% of the issues I was having with stability. I started improving immensely, turning, one foot skating, stoping, tricks, you name it, all became easy overnight. The twisters are really stiff but still allow some movement. They can be loosened if the stiffness is too much which I do all the time. They don't bend when I push off or flex when maneuvering. Every day I practice, I get a little better vs before with the soft boot, there was no improvement day after day . They say that better skates don't make you better but I can absolutely tell you that crappy skates will stifle your improvement and push you out of the sport. Having a more supportive skate has really got me excited about skating again. Watching all the

I'm 6' and around 230lbs. I went with Roller Derby Elite Beta. They checked all the boxes I wanted. 1) Hard boot 2) 80mm wheels, so good lower center of gravity (slightly larger wheels might have been better) 3) Can upgrade the frame to 3 larger wheels later 4) They fit properly, with no tight/hot spots 5) They were affordable under $100 on Amazon. It's a good quality well known name brand set that won't break the bank when you just want to try it out or try to get back into it. I did go to a local shop to try them on. Size 10 was good width, but too short and 12 was too big. They did not have my standard 11. They then convinced me to try on other pairs and I found that the boots, while similar caused a lot of pain in my outter foot. Coincidentally they started pushing me towards higher and higher priced skates. I told them I'd think about it. Went home, looked online and found them for under $100 on Amazon. Ordered that day. It is super important to try skates on before you order. Too narrow or hot spots will make you hate skating. DO get protective equipment. Knee, lebow, wrist and most importantly helmet. I didn't wait for mine to arrive. I went out the day my skates arrived and did well, until I didn't. After about 4 mikes I got lazy for a second and went down as a result. Lost a deep patch of skin on my knee about 1.5" x 3" and it took 3 months to fully heal (knee pads prople). I also gouged up the toe of one of my brand new skates. This is why I wanted to keep the price down, as there is a high probability of falling and scratching them up if you've been out of it for a while. If I had dropped $400 on a par of skates and scratched the crap out of them the first time out I eould have been so mad. $100 lets me make mistakes and not worry so much about it. If I stick with it, I can upgrade in a couple of years when I'm more stable.

Thank you very much for this video. I’m a 240 older blader and I would like to know more about your experience with Sola frames. I understand that the Sola frames are more technical, but I would like to know if they are very difficult to use, especially in terms of wheel bite. I currently use the Oysi frames medium chassis (flat setup), and comparing their specifications, I think maybe I have a chance with the Sola frames, but my knowledge is only theoretical. Your opinion would be very helpful. Thanks in advance and Regards from Mexico 👋👋👋

The Sola frames are awesome and I love them how ever I feel they have limited applications... I really love them in a park setting on coping, but that's it. On ledges (even in a park setting) they are hard to use and I get wheel bite on a regular basis. I won't even consider using them on street. I hope this information helps.

what a brilliant video I'm about 280lb iv been back skating for maybe 10 sessions now and iv been using Salomon Vinny Minton 1 with mega frames and 64mm wheels. My first session I was in agony my feet ached and my ankles hurt after I think its because the boot has good flex and my choice of frames and wheels had me too high off the ground and my ankles and feet just weren't ready for the stabilizing they needed to do. I changed back to the original salomon frames with 56mm wheels and I felt alittle slower but my feet lasted a lot longer after a few sessions I went back to the megas and I'm doing fine now. interesting fact I tried skating anti again and bleurgh it feels nasty compared to flat and I noticed my wheels felt like they were over heating

Great stuff, really helpful for us underpresented big boys/girls. I have the CJ2 that I've gutted, and it's a revalation in terms of the fit. I'm looking to get another, was looking at the Prime by wondering about the sizing. My CJ2 is a 44, and I find it just a touch too big since I gutted it. Wondering if I should get the 43, or go down a shell size to 42. Any thoughts?
@InlineDistrict
@InlineDistrict Год назад
I suggest measuring your foot in cm and following that. I can tell you that the 43 and 44 prime are the same shell size. The only difference is that there is a bit of extra foam in the toe of the 43. It's hard to imagine that you would be able to go down to a 42 from a 44, but if the cm measurement is in the size range I would go for it... All that aside, I recommend checking out Factions

I’m 6 ft 215-220 So far I’m only a week of mild to low amounts of skating, I’m a 271 Monday on a 45 FR3 80 I have one flat foot with over pronation, slammed some Gamechangers in there and my feet arches don’t hurt for sure. Unfortunately I also have just an ever small bit of pressure at the fore foot (given years of jiujitsu beating up one of my feet haha) maybe I still need some for break in time miles? Skating in central Texas we have shyty roads/parking lots. But so far I do love my FR3s compared to even my CCM ice skates and shtty fitness skates. These aren’t bad for sure.

Do you out your FP game changers(the moldable orthotic) under your V2 or inside your V2? I’m looking at replacing my FR Original liner with the intuition but I’m trying to figure out room and slippage, if I put an insole sized to my foot inside my FR3 shell that sucker has space to move around. I’m in a 10.5/45 with a 271 mondo the 45 has room for 280.5 I think. I’m just trying to really get a consensus on what folks are doing, I definitely don’t wanna start tearing up my stuff but I don’t wanna waste the money if I’m not getting the full capabilities of this V2.

@@SylvanEd did your skates has essentially 2 insoles prior to you changing, idk if other company’s do the same thing SEBA/FR. Glued to the shell itself is a very very crappy insole which I’m assuming is supposed to be a “shock absorber” and than there is another insole inside the liner. I’m really curious if anyone has torn out that most bottom insole/shock absorber as well as their Original insole. I guess I’m asking because it’s make a little more room I guess. Is the V2 much thicker than say the FRs liner? Or standard “comfy” liners

They stock liners are super comfy but after 20 minutes my toes just fall asleep, I've tried fatboy and 2nd skin liners and the fatboys cause my toes to fall asleep too and the 2nd skins are way too thin around the cuff so its all floppy.. do you think the CJ2 prime would be better for me than the Factions? I love my factions so much until my toes fall asleep, and its a huge bummer because I want to skate longer than 30 minutes and Ive been learning super fast lately. I believe the aeons come with skinny boy liners and other than intuitions that is what I would recommend . If they didnt come stock with Skinny boys i would see about getting a pair. Yes it can be a pain to lace all the way up but in my opinion it is worth it. I generally us 84 inch laces and utilize every eyelet so i can lace the shell and the liner together. I enjoy spending time lacing up as it forces me to stretch a little bit

I hope you can help me so here goes with stats: Im 6ft 4” I weigh 20st 7lb I’m a big build in muscle and my feet are a size 12-13 wide.! I bought a pair of ROCES THREAD INLINES they are a soft shell not much support in the foot and i have gone through 5 yes 5 sets of frames costing three times more as the skates cost! I cant skate on them anymore as i am ruining them! Now after watching your video which why didn’t I discover you in December 2021 fgs.! Can you recommend a decent inline either a try skate or normal inline skate with a good hard shell in my size?? Or could I buy a hard shell that would fit the frame on my old skates? I would appreciate muchly all my prayers would be answered.! Im from the Uk and Im limited to skate shops! Tia Bigjon

@chilli-iceolive-abode2447
@chilli-iceolive-abode2447 10 месяцев назад
For anyone reading this in the future if you get an FR with the stock liner it makes the fit smaller, whereas if you get one that comes with the FR Intuition it creates more room in the shell. So you may have to size up or down accordingly. Personally I think there's never a need to size up (coming from someone whose feet are only 100mm wide) and I find I always can fit (sometimes with a different liner) and sometimes go down a shell size. And to be honest the shoe size you wear is irrelevant really, I wear 11 shoes but 8 or 9.5 skates. Your feet need to be able to move when you walk, but when you're skating they don't so they can be bound tight.

Being a soft boot they definitely have more give than other skates. There are a few differences between the standard CJ and the Prime... if you wish to use your own liner or an intuition the Prime has a very spacious "shell" that can accommodate most any foot with the right liner. Personally I think the liner that come with the prime is a bit too thick for the skate, at least for me it is. The standard CJ is a bit more narrow in the toe area but has a very soft and comfortable liner. I also have a fairly "thick" foot and they both work great for me
