I'm Finally Understanding Clickable Titles and Thumbs

I’m a Pastor. A Nigerian but presently serving in Congo Brazzaville. I recently started my RU-vid channel “InspiredMoment with Ola Aina”. Thank you for the insights. It really blessed me.

I have a topic recommendation. How do you keep yourself from letting your fame influence you negatively. Like if you are knowledgeable on one topic how do you stop thinking you are knowledgeable in every field. I do think this topic fits with this channel because if someone stops being authentic and scrupulous he will loose the initial attraction of his base.

This video is very helpful. Not only am I not very creative with thumbnails, I also study philosophy, which means I'm just used to titles that are dry and just describe exactly what the topic is. This will help me rethink the titles to make them more interesting to people.

Mike, you have helped a lot in me learning how important thumbnails are. I have some questions for my channels: 1. Does premiering a video cause more harm or good in getting views? 2. How to make youtube shorts work? 3. I am needing a good cheap video editing program, what can you recommend? 4. How do you show the views what is on your screen while still showing your face? 5. Is it true that yt algorithm goes based on audience RETENTION and not on "views" when deciding whether or not to promote the videos to more people? Maybe you can do a quick Q & A video answering some of these practical questions? Thank you so much for your time. God bless you!

A good way to think of title and thumb COULD BE (because I’m not a RU-vidr, but a writer) is like an essay thesis. It helps keep you on point and gives an overview of your content.

I am ready to learn and put it to action for Christ.

Just went through and added custom thumbnails to my videos and changed their titles. I knew those were important, but I hadn't considered how important until I watched this video. I'm glad Mike started this channel. It's convenient timing since I just started my own channel a few months back.

Hi Mike, these are the things I need to know to start my channel: Recommended software - free, cheap, pro? How to download/save videos from RU-vid/Facebook etc. to borrow short clips for my videos. I know about copyright issues, I don’t plan to violate the law or take someone else’s work. I want to discuss clips like news and insert video quotes etc. into my videos and do voiceover work. What kind of RU-vid accounts are there and what kind should I have? How much does it cost to start a RU-vid channel in general? Is there a best time of day or day of the week to release videos for viewership? Thanks 😊👍🏻

Any more content coming? We launched our children’s channel in September 2020 since Covid closed the doors for our schools ministry. All we know about RU-vid has come from you and we’ve tried to implement what you’ve taught. Can’t believe we have now got over 70subs at “CEF County Armagh”. Hi Mike, thanks so much I really love your content on Bible Thinker and when I saw this I knew I needed to subscribe! Thanks for all these insights so far, I look forward to getting some time implement these changes to my poor efforts at a channel so far! I have a question, I have written a series of books which I call "Family Discipleship Resources," so kids story books to be read with families with additional questions to help families start discipleship conversations with their kids. Some of the books also have songs that go with them and I have done a book reading so all of that I just uploaded without much thought onto a channel and it hasn't gained any momentum. I am getting my head around what I need to do to gain more traction, but I guess I'd love to know some tips for people with a subscription of 3, what is the way forward I guess, and then in terms of regular content how do you: find the time to produce such high quality content so regularly, and how do you stop it from becoming like a bit of an unhealthy focus in your life? I find these kinds of things can be a bit toxic for my soul, counting my likes and thru plays and all that kind of thing. Yeah, I guess how do you know if it is worth the cost to your family to really take this seriously and then youtube/life balance type stuff? I have a feeling you started from more humble beginnings too. Thank you!

Haven't finished the video yet, but what process should be used to put images of other people's faces in the thumbnail? Like influencers etc. I saw how to do an advanced search on Google but I have already experienced there will not be as many open images. Both Mike and Pastor Parr seem to have them a lot.

So, faces also need words? I do reviews and flipthroughs...plus devotions, and sometimes plan with me. I usually show the book, Bible, or Planner unless I will be seen in the video...Then, I usually just leave my picture. HELP ME

I teach on my RU-vid channel but I screen record as I read from the Bible app (if I were to record, you'd see my nose).

I am looking for critique from not only Mike, but from fellow Christians and RU-vidrs. I know what I think I’m doing right but I want to know what someone else thinks I’m doing wrong. So Help a brother out

Law of supply and demand - those who need your product more are willing to pay a higher price. You trade some sort of value in your videos to ATTENTION and TIME. Less stimulative title and thumbs means people need to spend more of their attention and time to evaluate your content. Which means they are more likely to have a higher need in your content. Which means - if you follow the steps of optimizing your title and thumbnails - you making your content "cheaper" from time efforts and attention perpsective. Which means quality of viewrs is low - they dont need it that much. What you think we can do to increase quality of viewers/not quantity?
