I am a 2016 Olympic Alternate and former NCAA athlete and have deferred my senior year at the University of Utah to come back to elite gymnastics and try for a spot on the 2021 Olympic Team. This channel documents my journey and gives insight into the life of someone preparing for the Olympics!

After Tokyo I would love to see a video of Jonas's experience going through all of this with you. It's a unique situation, especially in gymnastics since so few are married. And obviously an Olympic behind the scenes Q&A 🙂

I could be wrong but I think MyKayla will be the first married female American gymnast at an Olympics since Kelly Garrison at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. At those Games Kelly hyphenated her maiden name with Steves, her forner first husband's name. 🙂

We flew from Minnesota to watch. It was the most amazing experience. And my daughter was lucky enough to see you on Friday night at that restaurant where you had to wait in line for takeout. She was too sacred to ask for a pic., so I got up the nerve to do it and she couldn’t stop shaking after!! Those are memories we will never forget. Congratulations!!!

Congratulations MyKayla! As a retired college gymnast I have mad respect for your ability to not only return to the elite level but to also make it onto the Olympic team! Not sure how many people realize this but Mykayla is one of very few female gymnasts in recent years to make a successful come back from college to the elite level (the only other ones I can think of are Brenna and some UCLA girls with dual citizenship but correct me if im wrong). Truly so impressive! Can’t wait to cheer you on in Tokyo!!!

Yes I've been waiting for this vid since seeing you make the team on Sunday! You are such a great representative of this country! I've had the pleasure of meeting you once in real life when you came through Houston five years ago for team processing (I was one of the volunteers that day at the airport) and just remember thinking to myself how awesome it was seeing how supportive you were of your teammates back then that made the team. And now five years later you are an Olympian!

I’m not gonna lie, I got emotional too. And when I heard Grace called, I was heartbroken. But then when you were the vault specialist I screamed out loud. So proud of you! And I think you are on the way to putting your best gymnastics ever out there in Tokyo. I feel privileged to have been allowed to watch this journey of pain, loss, frustration, joy, success, and finally hope!

@@sambutterfield8960 Jade has a tendency to fly out of bounds tho like in the 2019 vault finals, so if MyKayla can control her landings better than Jade in qualifications, she could edge her out. My ideal scenario is having Jade qualify to floor finals and MyKayla on vault
