Anybody had a DaVinci hysterectomy? Please share your experience with me!! I'm craving information and personal stories. It calms my anxiety to hear from women who have been through this.

After you have your surgery The thing that worked for my gas was a cup of black coffee no sugar no cream you drank that before you eat anything and it helps with the gas and get out of bed and walk take 2 steps take your walk it has the gas to move and get Mr. Randy to rub your back and Pat it like you burp in a baby You will feel much better when you're in the hospital after your surgery but the 1st night home tell Mr. Randy to get you a principal of popsicles it will cool it inner part of your body down that's when you're stopped in it you're menopause hot flashes Popsicles was my friend Good luck and I'll be praying for you

You are going to be a whole new woman the day after surgery, with high energy, your beautiful smile in full swing, and an outlook on life that is completely renewed. I had the DaVinci Robotic full hysterectomy procedure at 25 years old, after 2 bouts of cervical cancer that started at 17, horrible endometriosis, fibroids and terrible periods for years ... (Nobody wants to remove the reproductive organs of a childless woman) The scars are cute and very tiny, the gas is uncomfortable for a day or so, I just hung myself over the edge of the bed and pushed it out. If you have already been too bloated to wear pants, the farts are gonna be a breeze 🤭 I never went on hormone therapy, because, after doing research, I was able to supplement with natural oils and herbs. I'm tellin' ya Renee you have already been dealing with the worst symptoms, pain, and tension you are ever gonna feel. I'm telling you the God's honest truth...the procedure will be the best thing that has happened for you since giving birth. You have a million things to look forward to while being pain and symptom-free to fully enjoy!

da Vinci hysterectomy is a great choice. A very close friend had one and her recovery has been AMAZING. As you mentioned, the first few days were uncomfortable, but medications really helped. She was on her feet right away and feeling so much better after only a few weeks, much, much faster than the old style surgeries! As far as the boredom of recovery; I have a LOT of confidence that you're going to find reserves of resourcefulness you didn't know you had!!! re: hot flashes I keep hearing about Embr Wave 2! Maybe something to check out?

In 1996 at the age of 50 I had the lap hysterectomy and my incisions were one above the navel, one on each side of navel and one at the hairline of the abdominal area..total hysterectomy with bladder suspension included..My periods were terrible, no tumors or abnormal cells in the uterus..my child bearing days were over and thank God I could be free of those producing organs..best decision I have made..Later I did start taking a very low milligram of estrogen but after 10yrs my PCP said to discontinue taking them because of the risk of strokes..The traditional method of a hysterectomy is only necessary if the situation is complicated..you will do just fine with the surgery and you will also be so thankful you had the surgery..Your sexual life will continue as normal after your good recuperation period has ended and your pap smear must be continued as well as your PCP visits..Because of your mothers case of cancer you will need to monitor your health much closer..Many women think a hysterectomy is something terrible but a more healthier life awaits you after the surgery..restrictions will always apply any time surgery is done to the body regardless of what kind of surgery a person may have..medical technology is a life saver to many humans..sending prayers n thoughts for you during this trip in your life..🙏🏻💕

I'm so glad you are getting the surgery. I refused when I was your age, and then at 67 found out I had advanced uterine cancer. I wish I hadn't been so afraid of the surgery back then. I had no choice about the surgery last December and it was a piece of cake. No pain. I had no issues with the gas. Was up and walked a 1/2 mile the next day, and a mile the day after that. Now I just pray the cancer hasn't spread elsewhere. You are doing the right thing!

Can I ask if you had abnormal cells show up on a biopsy or did they find a mass? They found abnormal cells and I'm 53, never went through menopause. I see my specialist tomorrow and I'm scared to death :(

I am 54. I had my hysterectomy in 2010. I was hemorrhaging every month and sooo anemic. My beautiful doctor gave me my surgery as a gift bc I didn't have insurance. She told me it would change my life and give me a whole brand new life and she was absolutely right. It was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me physically! I'll be praying for you!

I had my laparoscopic hysterectomy 10 years ago this month. I'm 53. My quality of life improved so much... the pain, bleeding , feeling miserable..gone. It is scary, surgery always is but in general if you listen to your Dr , rest when needed, and let your body heal, you will do fantastic. Enjoy that vacation and book another one for spring/ summer when you are feeling super good! 😄

I had a complete hysterectomy at the age of 47. I had several issues among them, a stunted uterus, a fibroid tumor as big as my uterus, and my ovaries were covered in polyps. I am now going on 60 years old, and my quality of life after the surgery has been improved 100%!! Once you have healed you will feel so free.

Had knee replacement. Do exactly what dr tells you. Found tub bench great. Handheld showerhead 8ft was fantastic. Best for me was 5inch toilet seat extentor. Dropped right into the toilet. All 3 items at homedepot - Less than $70. Got friend to walk and feed my dog twice daily for a month. Neighbor cooked dinner for 2 wks. I bought frozen items, soup, paper cups and plates - basically enough food for 2-3 weeks I could just heat. Did massive laundry day before operation. Had loose comfy clothes and shoes. Short no fuss hair cut. Arranged for phy therapy and taxi to/from. I felt tired for a few weeks due to meds and it is major surgery. Knee is trying to heal. And all there is is a slim 7in Band aid on the knee! Did I really have a major operation? Yes. Be good to yourself. Take it easy. Do NOT think you have to do everything as before: prep food -cook food -wash dishes -do laundry -sort -iron -put away -feed dogs - wash dog bowls -clean dogs. I doubt you will be allowed to bend over or be able to stand long periods. Ask friends and family to come and help you. You had MAJOR surgery. Your body had a massive boo boo. It needs time to heal. Hope some of this helps. I will say a prayer.

I had a total hysterectomy at 33 after years of endometriosis, fibroids, and hell! I’m 52 now and I will say eventually finding bio identical hormones saved me - I’m actually going back on them. I had this laparoscopically as well and will say - I felt 100% better after but you have to heal. Everything easy! Congratulations on no more periods!!! Life changing.

My 42-year-old daughter just had the same experience as you. Heavy periods, anemic, Iron infusions every 6 months then finally, she too had pre-cancerous cells and had a laparoscopic hysterectomy done the middle of November. She did very well, not a lot of pain after, was able to get around pretty good right away. Her scars are already healing nicely and will most likely not be noticeable at all down the road. I had a Hiatal hernia repair a couple of years ago, also done laparoscopically and you cannot tell where the holes were, not kidding! Good luck to you and your lovely daughter.......I loves me some Etsy!

I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and it is the best thing I have ever done. My life is so much better now. I no longer live in pain and discomfort not to mention the constant worry and having no energy all of the time. It all came to head when one day I almost had a heart attack from having lost so much blood and my iron levels dropped so critically low I had to call an ambulance because i thought I was going to pass out in the shower while I was home alone and my heart had been racing all day just sitting still. I was rushed to the hospital in the ambulance and had two blood transfusions that night. I was ready to beg for a hysterectomy at that point but the doctor suggested it first. I wish I had had a hysterectomy years ago but I just thought if I could just get to menopause it would all be over. My gynaecologist told me I had a fibroid that was consistent with the size of a twenty week pregnancy. I am so glad it is gone and I am back to living a normal happy life free of that thing. I was 52 when I had my hysterectomy and I had been suffering for at least 20 years. You might want to think about Randy taking a few days off work post operation to help with things around the house so you can rest and recover.

Renee, I had a Davinci hysterectomy in Ann Arbor 6 years ago- (I am 61 now) I had endometrial cancer. You are right, that word stopped me in my tracks. It was surreal walking into the building with the word cancer on the front. But, I got through it just fine. My recovery was great, and did not even have any gas to deal with. They gave me pain meds to get through, and honestly did not even have to use those! I also had to give myself shots in the abdomen of a blood thinner to prevent clotting those first few days at home. That was a bit intimidating at first, but I knew I had to do it, so put on my big girl pants and got through it fine. You will get through this great, too. You are healthy, and will be back to your normal self in time for pool season. :) If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them for you. This scary time will be a memory soon enough. One plus- no more periods! Hugs being sent to you!

Oh Debbie....thank you!!!! Before my procedure to test the cells in my cervix, they gave me a shot in the arm (blood thinner meds) and said I would have the same shot before my surgery. It made a huge bruise that has still not gone away and a lump that lasted for 4 weeks. Oh well!

So sorry to hear Renee but you will feel so much better when it is over. I am 62 and had a total hysterectomy this past October. My fibroids were multiple and so huge that I thought that I was the octomom, just given birth to multiple creatures. I was 17 lbs lighter after surgery and apart from a few very mild hot flashes, I have been feeling very good. Thankfully, No more fatigue and cravings.I wish you all the best in your surgery and I am sure that you will be fine. I have no plans for hormone replacement, no matter what. I will use holistic means if necessary and let nature take its course.

The first time I had laproscopic surgery I had that shoulder pain from the gas; it helped to have my husband lightly 'chop' my upper back with his hands. The pain lasted one day. A few months ago I had my gall bladder removed laproscopically and was dreading the gas pain--good news, I had none!

I had a full hysterectomy and overy removal at 27. I had a couple of very tough years after beginning with a pap that came back serious. I had procedures done but nothing stopped the disease and profuse bleeding. I desperately wanted children. It was very much a sort of death experience. Women my age weren't having hysterectomies. I couldn't find any support in my family or outside. You are so fortunate to have this at this time in your life and have a family. Things are so much better medically and support. The surgery I had was so difficult with a long recovery physically. Mental recovery took a very long time. Many women would say things to me because I never had children. I found I needed hormone med about 9 mos after surgery. I felt like I'd hit a wall at 90 miles an hour. Hormone replacement made me feel so much better. Again, you are very fortunate to have this type of procedure. Its much easier than traditional and recovery time is faster.

How bad the gas issue will be is related to how much they can squeeze out of you once it’s done. It will vary...you may have a lot or none. It just has to dissipate on its own - not related to gastric gas. Sometimes it just takes painkillers to get through those days. The anesthesia will be the best sleep you’ve ever had 😅 it’s a nerve racking day to go through surgery, but you will be a trooper!

We all wish you the very best during your surgery and recovery when it happens. I had laparoscopic surgery for a different reason and that was for my colon cancer. They took out a part of my upper colon during the surgery. They used kind of like a surgical "glue" to close me up because the holes they used to place the laparoscopic tools were not overly big. The recovery from this type of surgery went well for me. I didn't have any negative results from it and the pain level was very low/small. You will do great, Renee. Take care.

I'm sorry to hear your news, it's natural to be nervous about any surgery but it sounds like you're in good hands, you've done your research, and found the right surgeon. I've had 3 major surgeries to my stomach over the last 43 years. An emergency C-section, vertical cut all the was down my stomach. I had a full hysterectomy in 2002 (horizontal "bikini cut" at 45 due to adenomyosis, which is the opposite of endometriosis and laparoscopic Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy in 2017. None were fun... each was different and healed differently as well. Yes, the gas they put in to do the laparoscopic surgery was painful but no where near as bad as my first two stomach surgeries! I'm founder and admin of a FB support group for weight loss surgery and they're all done laparoscopically now. My 3 best tips I give all the time at our group: 1) ASAP after surgery WALK, WALK, WALK, and then WALK more! No meds given seemed to help dissipate that gas pain more than walking! 2) Make sure a nurse or Ooccupagtional PT shows you how to properly get out of bed after stomach surgery! It involves your elbow and arms, putting legs over side of bed and letting the momentum help lift you to sitting position on edge of bed. (There are RU-vid vids, the best one I've seen is quite old - but shows it best! (I won't link it here). And 3) Use a pillow over stomach to cough, sneeze and laugh - TRUST me! Sending lots of Love & Light for a successful surgery and speedy recovery! And congrats and best wishes for your daughters successful business. (Also... enjoy that vacation it looks beautiful!)

Approach the six weeks as a sabbatical. Not thinking about what you can't do, but focusing on stillness and rest. Maybe be creative just for pleasure, read, meditate, etc. Also, I've had the gas for a laparoscopy. Felt it a bit soar, but not more the I would after a mild workout. The scars aren't visible anymore after a couple of years. And it's fine to cry if you are scared. It's a big deal. Hope this will bring you what you are hoping for. ♥️

Big news in the family💕Well done for taking the time to get yourself in the right headspace to prepare for the surgery. I started menopause in my late 40s so, early or late, we all get there and move on through the inevitable process. Easy for some, more problematic for others but all part of moving forward in life. Thank you for sharing. I am sure all the positive vibes, genuine best wishes and online love will help get you through. Best wishes also for ‘B by design’. I am sure that your support for the launch will be an great asset. 🥰🇦🇺

So many hysterectomys, I am comforted to hear the satisfied women. Hysterectomy and C section are the most preformed operations in the US. I had pelvic reconstruction surgery in 2008 to repair multi organ prolapse, my bladder, uterus and rectum had all lost support. This started with a forceps assisted birth and an episotomy. Hysterectomy was suggested at the time but I said no. I believe I was very naive at the time and did not do enough research. These surgeries do not have a very good outcome. It had to be redone 4 months later, the mesh had disintegrated. I woke with terribe pain that I thought was to be expected. My pudendal nerve was damaged and I have been in that terrible pain every day all day for 14 years. Changed my life, stole my life. You have done your research and there are so many successes, you will be one of them. I will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way. All the best to you.

I had a partial hysterectomy 18 months after my second daughter was born 25 years ago (I was 36). I had endometriosis, adenomyosis, and uterine fibroids. Only one ovary was removed at that time. But barely a year later, the ovary that remained grew a cyst that was the size of a grapefruit and I developed scar tissue that attached all over my digestive system. So that resulted in a complete hysterectomy. I was on a low dose hormone for about 10 years with no side effects. After 10 years of hormone replacement therapy, my GP advised to stop taking it since I was approaching my 50s. I experienced very mild menopausal symptoms for about a year after ceasing hormone replacement therapy but overall, I’m glad I had the hysterectomy because I was pain free from all that comes with all of those female issues. My prayer for you is that God watches over you as you go into this surgery and that He guides the surgeon’s hands skillfully.

I am confident that you are going to be fine. My older sister had that laparoscopic surgery 5 years ago at age 69 because she also had a large fibroid that grew to the size of a grapefruit. She is very active and feels like a new woman. I think Brecken will be very successful with her Etsy store because her designs are beautiful. I have had an Etsy store for years and it's a great platform. Best wishes to her.

I wish you the very best and I'm believing everything will go well with your surgery and with your healing. While I have not had a hysterectomy, I have had 6 surgeries in my lifetime. The last time was in 2021 where I had 2 major surgeries 5 months apart. I now live with 60% of my colon. But my God is soooo Good and I am still here!! Thank You Jesus 😊 I want to share with you my experiences with anesthesia with EVERY surgery. 3-6 months after every surgery my curly hair would start shedding with a vengeance and breaking with such fury. Anesthesia racks havoc on my hair! With my last 2 surgeries the damage was brutal. With vitamins and supplements, haircuts, conditioning hair cleansers...not shampoo...and with my Theradome LH 80 (yup, had to buy one) my hair has improved greatly. I have far less breakage and shedding. Please read up on the effects of anesthesia on the hair. I pray you never experience what I've gone through but if you do, run, don't walk, to a dermatologist. It's not my intention to frightened you, but to advise you of what could happen. Hopefully, you are fortunate and will never experience anything hair issues at all. I pray 🙏.

I had traditional hysterectomy when I was 44. I am 85 now and I have lived a fantastic life ever since that. The surgery was simple I was back to normal within 5to 6 weeks. I also had my cervix removed. I had traditional surgery of course and I was cut one side to the other across my pubic area. I had replacement hormone until I was 65 years old. Remember I am 85 now and have had no problems from the surgery.
