Just quit a job because they have been low censused for the last 3 weeks. I have not made any money for 3 weeks even though I was told they had plenty of work. Back to finding something else that is guaranteed hours that brings me some joy.
Omg right! That’s crazy, they just don’t have respect for nurses, they want us to be ready and able but then turn around and have no shifts available..but it’s all good, cause you know us nurses have plenty of options. Good luck with your next job
Waaaaay too many nursing opportunities to be putting up with that BS. I’d be like deuces get to my list of agencies and pick up a PRN gig on the quick quick. Too easy. Don’t make things stressful for yourself!!!
@@lorientheresa4844 they succeeded by not giving up. An exam only measures your understanding of what you learned in that particular time. Don’t let one measly test determine your future. If at first you fail try and try and try AGAIN!
@mattpeter5902 so how did you pass nursing school!?! so many tests, skills, clinicals, sleepless nights, hoops, and ladders just to get to nursing school and you get to the big dance and you give up after a few songs!?! Come on brother don’t give up. STUDY STUDY AND PASS! Manifest it!!
I would be so freaking mad dang they did you dirty. I'm gone stay in this LTC and AL. Gone eventually get this LPN and stay in this lane. But stay positive and don't let the disrespect bother you.
Aww, please just keep her uplifted. LTC is hard baby. When I would get off work my husband would be like “how was work?” My answer, “it’s over”. We just get happy to make it through a shift
That's true they doing the traveling nurses the same way in Illinois. So now we have a new company that just took over they just cancel all nursing travellers.
I would find out what the law permits first. I thought they have to pay you something. At my work they on call means I get 50% of my hourly until I get called in or they tell me they don’t need me.
When our census was low they never cut the full time hours unless we volunteered or just called out. PRN then part time ppl got cancelled. Then they started doing annoying/ unprofessional stuff like no call no shows or repeatedly calling out…. Even quitting. Then the census and acuity shoots all the way up and we’re constantly under staffed…. The staff gets burned out, calls out and we’re critically under staffed 😩😫It’s a bad cycle.
Thats crazy!! I’ve been a nurse for 10 months. I thought of doing prn float when I hit my one year but after something similar was explained to me imma pass! Lol I’ll do part time in the hospital and part time in home health and call it a day.
I absolutely hate nursing. Im agency and I’ve been canceling shifts left and right due to stress right before going to the facility. My eye has been twitching for 3 days from stress. I know I need the money but my body doesn’t want to be in this toxic field anymore. Maybe I’ll apply to McDonalds.
Gurl that’s so sad. I had so much anxiety before work last week, I was like this just ain’t for me. I need to look for some non bedside nursing Jobs for real. I hope you find something that fits you and makes u feel good to go to work. Lordt, why didn’t anyone tell us it was this crazy? !
I'm RN 15 years in the industry, I Just recently started to get my money right" raking in 20k monthly from my 2 Jobs and investments after living paycheck to paycheck for a long while. I plan on growing my passive income and retire soon enough to follow my passion. My story & hers is proof that not matter how much you make anyone can go bankrupt when they're irresponsible with their money. I didn't get education on personal finances from my parents or in school and I learnt the tough way. I wish money management is taught in schools for the younger generation. Live within your means, budget, save, and invest!
@oliviajayden6654 I made sacrifices for the greater good. Cut down expenses, frugal living, learnt to budget, save, When done properly, investing increases wealth, piling up so much in the bank will yield only 0.1 percent! let your money work extra for you. I learnt all this with the help of a professional to guide me through the baby steps, I'm teaching my kids the same with her help.
I suggest you look up Rachel Blanc, she's fantastic and successfully guided me through the steps. With her assistance I'm increasing my portfolio's passive income
This is really educational. Thanks to your sharing this extremely useful suggestion on here, RU-vid comments these days are more educational than ever before
First of all, I get paid for being on call… it’s a few dollars but it’s not zero. They wonder why nurses are so miserable. They just controlled your whole day as if you don’t have a family! I would’ve told them the first time to go head and take me off the schedule but I have never and never will sign a contract that my pay decreases if I call out. That’s a basic human right. If I call out and don’t get paid is enough “punishment” 😮 but to make it so I have to preform sick, tired, mentally exhausted, child needs me… is crazy! Thank God it’s temporary and try to get up outta there. I’ve never heard of this.
I'm a CNA in Assisted Living and to be honest, I love Long Term Care or Assisted Living. As soon as I get this LPN I'm gonna stick with LTC or AL. The hospital sounds so scary. And I'm loving that unlimited overtime.
We appreciate what you nurses do, those who treat patients with kindness and care. Yet I understand the bullshit politics and bureaucracy makes it super difficult! It’s time for this Matrix to get shut down. Keep rocking in love🥰⭐️💕💫
Who are you telling, I thought that employers learned the worth of their staff but they really haven’t, this is why I’m so grateful to have this platform and other means of making money.
I've heard that particular program there is like that. But thank goodness you took only 6 weeks. Also as far as the driver almost running you off the road, I'm willing to bet you were on 70. It's crazy driving 70. Be careful.
When the census is low , lowest in seniority will be sent home with 2 hours of pay if they're already in facility. Or Nursing staff coordinator will call you no later than 2 hours before the shift to cancel you. They also ask highest seniority do they want the day off , so you have an option. If you choose to be off you can use any accured time like vacation time or holiday time saved.
Your braidout is cute. Healthcare is so frustrating. I don't even depend on one job anymore. Always have a backup for the days your not scheduled to come in.
Yep they holding you hostage. My niece who is a pacu nurse is always getting low census even when she was on medsurg they were holding them hostage so she really couldn't plan anything for the rest of the day for real.
I am Float/pool contingent at my hospital. When I am low census on a day I picked up. The 1st (4 hours) of my shift is cancelled and that means they DON'T need me at this time from 7pm to 11pm. Then I am required to call by 930pm (if they haven't called me first) to call in to see if I am needed for the remaining 8 hours of my shift. 9 out of 10 they don't need me. So, I am NOT penalized, or my pay is not affected. I just don't get paid for that day.
This sounds crazy, I’ve never herd of them reducing your pay for a duration of contracts , to hell with these hospitals. They are always make sure there good , so you have to do the same for you
This is crazy. There’s no job worth this level of stress and arbitrary treatment. How can you have a normal life, have personal plans, raise kids, have a husband / partner, take care of a pet while being a nurse?
Congratulations on your Rn Lady! Yes you just don’t know till you find out. No, our hospital you get paid as a traveler even if we call you off the shift. I had a crazy absolute nightmare with my nursing school in Florida that I’m currently in legal action with. Been through a lot and all to lead up to me transitioning careers. I’m not giving up but I grown out of toxicity of this environment.
I hope you get out of that crazy contract. I think your best bet with your RN is to find a doctors office or Healthcare manager/director. Like homecare manager for example. Also maybe case management. At the end of the day a lot of these prn jobs are rigged. I hope you find something that gives you that work life balance. Also if I were you I would demand to speak to the HR manager and to review this so called on call contract and see if there's any way you can get certain shifts.
Working in Dallas at the facility I work, when there is a low census, they do the same thing only difference is instead of them saying you have to be available and on call for the 12-hour shift, they break it in half. When it happened to me, I received a call at 530ish for my 0645 shift stating that they didn't need me for the first half of the shift, meaning until 12, and if they don't call me back by 1230, then I'm not required for the second half of the shift, meaning I got the whole shift off without punishment or pay. If they choose to call and you don't answer or respond back, that's considered a no-call no-show. You can refuse without punishment if they call you after a specific time, for example, 1330. You have the right to use your PTO or unpaid time for the shift. I will say that our contracted PRN staff would get paid for at least half the shift, if not all, if they were canceled on the hospital's behalf. That's why it's important to learn the facility policies and read through your contract because each contract and policies are different. But as a contracted PRN staff, there's no way I will miss out on money because of what the facility does. The best part about nursing is that you are never stuck; you have endless opportunities. Good luck to you and your nursing adventures.
Hey nurse B! It’s crazy that this wasn’t mentioned while discussing the contract. I would never think to ask about this too! Maybe try to negotiate a contact WITHOUT the on call part
No Buenas! Doing to much. Just had a contract they told me day before starting I need all new navy blue scrubs. No I decline. I have enough scrubs to last a lifetime. SMH I'm in charge not going to be a slave to these hospitals with the stupid ish. Next contract! Good luck on that bs lol
That’s how the hospital game is…. It’s soo aggie AF, girl i wish i would have told u before u started so u can be up on game. But anytime they have called me after 7pm i never worked at all. Now if they did call me before 7p then i would go in but guess what I’m taking my own precious time, when i get there i get there oh well not rushing for nobody. But honestly at the hospital i was working at it was very rare that i got call back in after 7p. Cause if the census is low it’s gon be low all night, they not gon get hit with a shit load of pts from the ICU. (I worked on a step down stroke unit )
Just FYI they do PRN-4 like that real bad! We are always the first to be put on standby or low census. If you pick up a shift somewhere else and don’t come in, you will get an absence and lose your PRN incentive. I’m PRN-4 as well in the ER with this company. They will inconvenience your entire day. You only get $5/hour for being on standby. It’s so sketchy! Make sure you understand the difference between low census and standby because they will PLAY you.
@@dontricewg if it is a travel contract they should be. I know many people that got paid for being on call due to low census. I have one friend who was on call for her entire contract and they paid her the entire time.
It’s through the actually hospital they hire nurses at PRN positions then have them signcontracts for 6 weeks minimum. Supposedly this is their policy for all other staff, including PRN. Most non PRN nurses have PTO and when this happens they use that to still get paid but PRN employees don’t gain PTO. Basically it’s just a crappy policy they DO NOT disclose when you sign the contract.
Wow, that’s frustrating! I know you have the kids ans I may have missed if you’re doing it but have you tried travel nursing? Perhaps it may buffer times whn these mofo’s get stupid. Poor baby… I’ve been following you since you were an Lpn. I know it’s gon work out for you…on another note, it’s crazy cause I had a whole van try to slide over on me, like I wasn’t right there driving. People are crazy
That’s some bs fr. Like oka, ya don’t need me today? K. Thanks for letting me know, I’ll go make money at agency. But expect me to be AVAILABLE and not go in??? Crazy. And them tryna bring u down to base pay if you “call off” on a day they tryna play you? Wow. I get the frustration.
@@yourfavnurseb9699, I ask because I saw in one of your videos that you graduated from St Louis Community College.... I am also from St Louis, the move to Texas about 10 years ago
My old job used to do that, I QUIT. They would let me come in but make me a CNA then the one day they just canceled me. They didn’t do that to their staff nurses though they tried to make me a CNA two days in a row.
@@Mariely1 I’m not a cna though so to do that 2 days ima row is not cool with me. I’m not above it I’ll take care of a patient but I wanna do lpn stuff most of my shift.
