Same as CNA. I’m in a Vet Tech Degree program. I’ve tossed and turned but someday I’ll do my LPN when I get on my feet. Brandi when I found you in 2016 I had no GED and nothing. You motivated me to go back, finish my mistake and then sign up for CNA. Right now I love that CNAs have work everywhere. I just dislike how we’re degraded like we’re less than.

I’m a few classes down to finishing my Prerequisites and doing the nursing program or the LVN but the Lvn program is a waitlist which is two years and the Rn program is hard to get into. Plus I don’t have support from family or anyone. I’m not sure what to do if you have any suggestions I’ll like to hear it.
I’m similar. Currently a CNA doing animal nursing degree. I wanna do LPN soon. I’m thinking about doing travel cna to get out and relocate to a place that has an LPN program with no restrictions about getting in. Try the travel cna and get out there and relocate.
I’m currently a CNA and I will be starting LPN school in September, and then right into a bridge program! You have always been a huge inspiration for me our Fav Nurse B🤍thank you love🙏🏽✨
And it’s called the sunk cost fallacy 😮 baby if it ain’t good for you, let it go. But we still need money and a job so. I’m not a nurse, I’m in the beauty industry
What is your opinion? Should I go to school to be a LPN first and get some experience before I bridge to RN. Or go straight to an RN program. Im asking because I start Malcolm X college in August.
I haven’t heard of a waiting list in my area since COVID, but of course every area is different. Some schools have programs that start in the spring and fall which opens up more spots as well. Historically though community colleges are the cheapest option for nursing school.
In regards to some black patients not preferring white caregivers…I live in Alabama. There are still many patients whose families were affected by the Tuskegee experiments. So yes for some patients there is a deep level of distrust for caregivers of a certain ethnicity.
Yes, we keep going because there are no other immediate options that match the pros of this career…life is happening along the way like having children and growing our families, so our options end up being somewhat limited.

I don’t honestly believe there’s a nursing shortage. Students graduate from nursing school every year. I believe these hospitals and nursing homes don’t wanna pay people their worth.
When my baby was in the NICU when talking to the nurses most of them burnt out nurses wanting to do something different and they fell in love with NICU
after 17 years at the bedside, I clocked out and never look bad. I miss it a bit but the thought of going back gives me anxiety. i used to work 16 hours back-to-back also. I was morning shift (7am-7pm) but worked nights OT. I used to get floated throughout the hospital at one time. I am drained and tired.
See I’m in between nursing and graduate school and I’m hearing people saying don’t do nursing it’s not worth it I’m a medical assistant now and I already have two bachelors but I see the cliques now as a medical assistant.
I’ve been a medical assistant for a long time. I’ve always wondered should I just get my nursing license BUT then I’m like no. Something just always tells me nope.
Touching on the nursing shortage. I think organizations (hospitals, facilities, etc) are deliberately playing with people's licenses out of greed. Just trying to use less nurses to get the same work done. I'm not a nurse yet, but the hospital I work at has pretty good ratios. 1:5/6 for medsurg, 1:3 IMCU, and 1:2 for any ICU. Every now and then, you'll hear about some new hotshot manager trying to up the ratio but it goes nowhere because the union at this hospital not letting that fly.
Nurse B....I just started as a PCT in a hospital setting it is so stressful and I only been there a month. I have been watching you for over a year and this was before I even got certified as a CNA. And I was proud of myself well I should say I am proud of myself for accomplishing that however, I didn't know the job will be so stressful and I'm still in orientation. 😢 I see the problem being charting and there is less time with the patient, and I like spending time with the patient and maybe the hospital setting isn't for me. Because I have done private duty as a home health care aide. But I'm most definitely is not happy😔 so if anyone have any suggestions for a brand new PCT please give it 🙏🏽 Thanks 💜
I don’t think that was a big thing when I made this vid,but I’ve looked into it and I agree it’s def an option. The only thing is if you plan to take that BSN and go to another school they may not accept capella’s degree. I was looking into CRNA (nurse anesthetist) schools and most won’t take a degree from capella, WGU etc. I Leo think it’s more than $1,500 but a lot of hospitals have partnerships with them that lower the costs.
I just want to switch from fulltime to prn..as cna. I didn’t realize I couldn’t handle more than three days a week until I just did two weeks so far..50-60 hours a week is not it for me. Currently working on writing a letter as to why I want to switch to prn with the nursing home.
It’s not a challenge to do your job as a RN if you are competent and continuously seek to learn and educate yourself. Talking negative about the field is not the way to go. If you don’t like it, leave the field and do something else. It’s simple. Your words are discouraging to future RN’s. You still have a CNA/LPN mentality; you are a RN now, toughen up.
@@reddrobynne5108 the exact way you just expressed your comment with “what the hell.” It is encompassed by low emotional intelligence and lack of advanced knowledge.
Nah, this career is still hard. Nothing wrong with exposing the hardships of nursing. And if someone doesn't like it, they shouldn't leave they should try to change the field so that less people feel this way cause she is not the only one
Why did you get in the field to talk down on the field? Nursing is not for everyone. As a RN please learn some tact and professionalism and be the change you wish to see in the world.
Hi love, I am seeing many nurses change careers and study to be a medical coder or medical billing and coding, they can work from home. What do you think of that, if you know? I work as an HHA private duty and I am thinking about taking a medical coding course, because it offers job security, they pay well and I can work from home, my problem is that it is pure theory and I have ADHD, I am very manual and I learn faster by doing things. I hate any program that is too theoretical, I get bored too quickly. 😫🫣🤦🏻♀️

Girl, yes, it’s true, I have worked with some hardworking Asians!!!!Some of the best shifts I have had were alongside Asians. That willingness to work as a team was a key factor to the success of the shift.
@@ladytosha15 It's true... but we must be resilient as well. Especially now, lay offs are everywhere... Not much layoffs in healthcare but people might surge in that industry
Nobody wants to do bedside!! Most in bedside have a plan to get out. The responsibility is crazy and nowadays people are coming after you personally!! A job that can bankrupt your family for life for one mistake you make while short staffed!! And pray you aren’t criminally prosecuted and end up in jail!!😢😢🙏❤️
Always remember you’re mostly encountering people on the worst days of their life!!😢❤But I’m same!! Don’t want to look at ANY OTHER HUMAN BEING on my days off!!!😢
❤❤The amount of shifts (12hrs) that I didn’t get to eat, drink enough water or even use the restroom!! SING IT!!! The responsibility vs the pay!😢Its all going to fall on you!!!😢🤬
Hi I have been a follower of your channel for a very long time. I believe your patients are lucky to have you. I felt lucky that I got to work home-care & I was a CNA. I also worked closely with nurses for a couple years. I had to be honest it’s not something deep down I want to do. Nursing is a very worthwhile career. I just honestly wish people would promote other fields because nursing is not the only game in town. A friend & mentor recommended respiratory therapy & there’s OT, PT, rad tech, dental hygiene etc etc. sometimes I think they also need to split up nursing so nurses don’t feel so overwhelmed. Yes and I have had bad experiences with nurses. I can’t just put my head down & do what I’m told if it’s incongruent with my values. Everything you said in the beginning is true. It’s also a very rigid hierarchy much like the military.
