Okay! I once and once only had gas in a house I lived in. I paid it in full every month. Even when it jumped to over $200 in a single month. Then over $300. Then over $400. Again, paid it in full every damn month! The $400 was the straw that broke my wallet's back. I had to do a payment plan on that one and it took months to pay off. Thankfully, winter was finally over and the bill went back down. But after that, I said never again will I have gas. I don't even live up north, I live in Alabama. Paying electricity in winter is high enough. I'll freeze before I give them that kind of money ever again. So if you can afford both electric and gas, to me, you have good money, lol.

@S. O. I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and say that's not what he meant :) He probably means "You really don't want to do dishes by hand?" I was raised where most places I lived did not have a dishwasher and if it did have one, it was old and sucked. So, I'm used to washing dishes by hand. I don't like to, but I feel I can't trust dishwashers. Or I might not have a lot of dishes (or I don't want to wait for a load of dishes to pile up) to use the dishwasher. And going on a side tangent here, but I work for a call center that helps to schedule appliance deliveries for many companies (Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes, etc). I'll never forget when a customer actually had the audacity to tell me "The dishwasher is the most important appliance in the kitchen , you know?" Whoa my goodness, I wanted to reach through the phone and shake her, lol! Screw the fridge to allow for versatility of a diet and preserving foods, nope, not having to wash dishes by hand is the most important thing, people! It just felt so snobbish and first world elitist when she said it. Yes, a GOOD dishwasher can save on water as well, but when did washing by hand become an unreasonable expectation?
