My experience with them had a similar feel. I did return a watch that was described as “new”. It was a Rolex OP 36 blue 3 6 9 dial. The winding action had a concerning unrolex feel to it. Not what I expected a Rolex to feel and sound like. Took it to a watch maker who said they could fix it but the watch was definitely not new. I had to get a return authorization from them to return it. After they received the watch they tried that same restocking fee tactic. They claimed I marked the case and sent me a grainy picture to “prove” it. They would wave the fee if I bought another watch. I had previously purchased a Tudor black bay 41 from them which seemingly went smooth. I reminded them of that and they ultimately did not charge me. The whole experience left a terrible taste in my mouth and I am now and forever done with them. Your story parallels my own experience with them.
@2 Mac NEVER, I mean NEVER do Gray Market watch deals. You eventually just get burned. Buy from AD or an individual. Either way alway lay hands on what you ate buying prior to exchanging $$$$$$.
They screwed me over with the restocking fee last year. This was on a discontinued Seiko they said they had in stock. After the purchase it was no longer in stock and they would order it for me. They said it could take months for it to arrive which would have surpassed the return time allowed by my credit card so I asked for a refund. I was charged the restocking fee and disputed the charge. My card sided with them and allowed the restocking fee. I fought with them for weeks but it was never resolved in my favor. Apparently they are geared up to screw as many customers as they can so please don’t do business with them.
I just had an unpleasant experience with these creeps today but in my case it was a bait-&-switch situation. I got the model watch I wanted but it's a pre-owned Rolex and quite pricey - $28,995, but the particular model year I wanted had a tiny difference in the dial from other years. No big deal, just a little quirk that's hard to see without a magnifying glass but they showed that exact watch on their website and to make certain, I emailed them and asked them to confirm it which they did. So I wired them the money (no credit cards above $10K) and got the watch overnight. Beautiful watch! Looks brand new! But it isn't the one with the tiny difference that I was looking for. So, I called them on it and their reply was that "the girl" who answered my email doesn't know what she's talking about and that the picture didn't show what I saw. So, I went back into my history and found the listing but now it has another watch of the same model for $2,000 more but this picture doesn't show the tiny quirk that I was expecting. So, I told them I wanted them to send me the watch I bought or I want a full refund. After all, they misrepresented it and won't stand behind their own employee's written word so why should I eat $2,899 for their sleaziness? Bottom line: stay away from AuthenticWatches because the only thing authentic about them is they are genuine slime buckets.
Tons of shitty business tactics. Do you think it’s because all these deep pocketed people just eat the cost? Same with Rolex, you have to buy another model to be able to buy what you’d like, it seems insane.
@@lindboknifeandtool My AD has gotten me 2 watches in the past 12 months since I started the relationship with them and they never pressured me into buying anything else from them. I’ve heard that that’s the case with some people but I got lucky, I guess.
I’m not honestly sure why anyone would consider this a legitimate seller when the entire string of events seems hallmark scammer. No thanks, dispute charges and report. This video is a public service in my opinion.
You should have done a video, banning them. Don’t let these scammers take any further advantage of other consumers. Thanks for shedding light on these criminals.
I wouldn't have been as polite. I would not only file a dispute with my credit card company, I would file a complaint with my state's consumer fraud division of the attorney general's office.
@@morgan97475 the credit card dispute will definitely work. As for consumer protection, that's to simply scare the crop out of them, and you don't have to hurt an attorney to do it. The threat of a fraud prosecution should stain their drawers.
Yeah considering that the watch never arrived to your house the suggestion of you having to pay a 10 percent restocking fee.... That would have ticked me off too!
You’re in the same state, ask them if they’ll let you come and pick it up in person. If they won’t do an in person pick up this is definitely a scam. Call your credit card company and dispute the payment.
Call your credit card company and open a claim. Let the bank deal with it. Any dispute I have had, the bank has resolved and cost me nothing. Take pictures of the site (showing the return policy and no restocking fee), document the days and times you called as well as what you told them and they told you. Someone from the bank will ask you to detail what happened and may ask for any documentation.
Did you ever call FedEx directly? Not that it’s your responsibility but I would have been so curious what they would have added to the conversation. Either way them trying to charge a restocking fee is highly BS!
I bought long time ago a Breitling from them. Authenticity or shipping were not an issue. I was very happy with my watch. Not long after I bought it the watch died. Of course by being a grey market watch no AD will touch it. The movement needed an overhaul and of course it was not covered by their warranty. I had to pay a lot of money to get it fixed. I will bever buy an expensive watch from the grey market.
11k views on the first day on this video. That company F'ed up by screwing over a high ranking member of the watch community like this. I know you;ll get that Omega for your dad. Keep us posted.
Crazy good timing for me. I was looking a a Tag Heuer on this site but steered away due to some red flags like wrong year of production and model number did not match the picture. Only reason I was considering them is because they appear so legit. Thanks for the Great Video
Others have said this but contact your credit card company for sure. I work for Visa (here in Canada so the rules may be slightly different), but you can dispute this as item not received. The business will argue that they charge a 10% restocking fee so they are entitled to this, but their website clearly says different. I would ensure you take a screen shot of the website so you can show it to your credit card company if necessary. I would also start the dispute now so they can see the website showing the no restocking fee before it expires on Jan. 31. Any way you should be able to get all your money back. Even if they credit you back your money minus the 10% you can still dispute the 10%.
I've bought a breitling watch from them on ebay,(they have 100% rating there btw) and everything was smooth. But I think it's always better to buy on eBay from companies rather than from their websites directly, because you have an additional layer of protection.
...luckily (in the UK at least) if you buy with a credit card (over£100) then the CC company is jointly liable, as you were in a credit agreement. Meaning, if something fails to arrive, or is not as described, or fails and the seller refuses to resolve, then the CC company has to refund👍. I understand that they refund quite quickly too👍, however this means the seller may have to foot the bill for an unscrupulous buyer. 🤨 Happy Hanukkah Mrs Goodman BTW!
An additional layer of protection on ebay is a joke, that entire site is a hive of scammers and ebay is happy to let them scam. one insanely common one ebay is well aware of but does nothing about is the the scam where people will mail a package iwth something with a similar weight to an address near you because they know usps shipping receipts only show area codes and cities, when you don't get your package they just show ebay the receipt that was never addressed to you i the first place and will side with the scammer. I bought a seiko off ebay not too long ago, it said delivered, never got the package. When i went to the post office and opened a case they gave me all sorts of info, the weight and various other stuff. I asked the seller to provide me with the full shipping invoice receipt which WOULD have my address and he made a fake one with the wrong weight and wrong tracking number. I told him to show me the real invoice or i would dispute it. He stopped responding and opened a case with ebay claiming i was trying to scam him and showed them "proof" he sent the watch. When i attempted to start a dispute case they wouldn't let me and said he had already proved to them he sent me the watch and the case was closed. I disputed it with paypal and they just said "Ebay says he proved he sent it so you're denied.". I asked ebay to show me wha the sent them and showed them how he had sent me a fake invoice and they just said this case is closed and there's nothing i can do. Meanwhile i got the watch bug again and was looking at old grand seikos on there just the other day and almost every single one was fake. What do you wanna wager that if you bought one of those very convincing fakes ebay wouldn't be able to tell or care that you got scammed.
What is disappointing is that the website looks so professional, like if I just stumbled on it, I would feel really comfortable doing business there. I haven't had issues with sellers, but lots of issues with Shippers. DHL often will say a package was delivered only to find out an overworked driver just marked it so and leaves it on the truck for a few days. I almost always havwe Fed Ex hold my watch at the facility it is a five minute drive from my house and just easier for me to pick up.
Happened twice for me, the guide said they tried to deliver the package but they never came near where i live, but the report stated that they came rang the door Bell and didnt found anyone, si i checked the cctv and nothing! Then FEDEX opened and stole from a package My brother ordered.
They need to come clean with T3. No question. They also need to work with FedEx if they didn't get the job done as agreed. This isn't a Jory problem - that is a AuthWatch problem. If they don't fix it I won't even consider them in the future.
I bought an older IWC Portuguieser Chronograph. I was given a tracking number but it turned out what was mailed was junk mail to my city I live in and not my exact address. Apparently that was enough to satisfy this platform store and hand over my payment to the seller. The website told me my product arrived according to the tracking number. I went to the post office to look up the weight of the package and where exactly it was delivered. I went to that address myself to find out that 7ounces of junk mail was delivered with my name on it. I had to fight and show evidence to get my money back. This happened on Mercari.
If their website says "No Restocking Fee" call them back, tell them that if they don't refund you the full amount that you'll issue a chargeback because their website states "No Restocking Fee". If you send that info to your credit card company they'll get your money back, and if that business gets too many charge backs they'll lose their ability to process credit card payments.
I had the same problem purchasing a watch last year. UPS decided to return it to the vendor without it ever even making it to my city. To make things worse, UPS lied to me on the phone saying that the reason was that the Las Vegas Distribution Center had been closed due to COVID and all packages were being returned. That was a blatant lie. Luckily the vendor worked with me to re-ship the watch with no additional charges and things worked out fine. I'm looking forward to a positive outcome on your saga.
Happy Hanukkah Jory. 🕎 Sorry that you had to deal with crap. But I gotta tell you this, you always manage to make me laugh no matter what you’re going off about. Thanks and I hope it all works out for dad.
Like the new setup but you might need to crank the gain on your mic. You're much quieter than normal and if I turn up my headset to hear you, my eardrums get blown out when an ad comes on.
Oh, hell no!!! I would never buy a ten grand watch online. For that much money I will walk into a jewelry shop, give them my credit card, and walk out with a watch, even if I have to pay more for that item.
If they're willing to do that to a customer that just spent 9k, I'm definitely not doing business with them. Sounds like FedEx messed up, but since it's the seller's FedEx account, they should have handled it. FedEx will jump when a business account holder calls and screams at them for messing up delivery service. Thanks for the heads up.
As others have said, you should dispute the charge with your credit card company. (You did pay with a credit card, right?) They will always side with the buyer in a case like this.
Your comment is directly below that of a "customer" whose card sided with the company when they charged a restocking fee on a watch that they hadn't even sent out, because it was not in stock!
@@shaunpatrick8345 The credit card you use online is important. I use American Express, and have never hd an issue with dodgy vendors. Also, the fellow who said he was charged a restocking fee for a back ordered watch clearly is non compos mentis if he rolls over for that scam. Something doesnt sound right about his story!
Jory, do you want me to send the boys over there with the baseball batts?? We can sort this thing out... i'll make them one offer they can't refuse... 😎
Glad you didn't loose your money. I was looking at an Autavia on their site, prices were good but did not get a good feeling on purchasing from them. Glad i stayed clear.
Sorry for your bad experience. Hopefully you can get it satisfactorily resolved. When you said the FedEx tracking said redelivery was scheduled, it reminded me of a situation I had this year with FedEx. And when the tracking notice says redelivery scheduled' that's code for FedEx lost the package! That's what happened to us. Hopefully that's not the case here. Good vid. Keep at it!
Alert your credit card company and decline the charge. No re-stocking fee. It says so on their website. The credit card processor won't validate the charge if you emphasize that you NEVER received the merchandise.
Sorry to hear that. I have only seen those used on other sites. It was my grail watch, the barrel twist is awesome. I would have been wary seeing someone selling one new since they have been discontinued for so long.
Sorry to hear that. I have bought 3 watches from them (1) Tag Heuer F1 Chrono, (2) Breitling SO II 42 and (3) Rolex Explorer 39 mk1 dial. All were flawless and deals went well. This disappoints me.
A seller has the responsibility to get the package to you. Them asking for more for shipping would have been enough for me to demand a refund and then report fraud if they refused.
Hey Jory! sorry if I am being a bit dense here, but they said the watch was in California, correct? Looks like they are a brick & mortar store. Did they never encouraged a face-to-face transaction? I feel like they are advertising a piece that they never had to begin with which I feel is a bad business move.
Crazy story Jory! I love how regardless of what's happening you keep your cool. I would have lost it by then and started a lawsuit lol. I haven't had a bad experience with a watch purchase specifically but with online shopping, FedEx or UPS sending my order to the wrong house. Fortunately, I did get that fixed immediately within a day or two but the stress level definitely goes up for the time being. I am sure the storm will pass and you will get your watch one way or another. Stay up my friend!
Before you finalize your new sound setup, just know that we don't hear you that much. I would expect more from that big bold mic. I still like your channel😄
At UPS there is a very stringent policy for handling high value packages. They also track every delivery with GPS to make sure it gets to the right address. Might cost $17 more than the competition, but it's worth every penny.
Don’t waste your time….call your credit card company, dispute the charge saying it was never delivered. It’s now up to the merchant to provide proof of delivery (which they can’t obviously, since you never received it). And without the proof, they are charged back the entire amount of the purchase and you aren’t out any money.
Excellent story and I’m glad you shared this for all of us to take note and be careful, love you dry humor, I hope you get a better deal next time , peace ✌️ 😎🌴
I often check out their site when on the trail of a particular watch. Of the 100 watches I've bought in the past 4 years, I have never actually pulled the trigger on one of their listings. I always found their prices to be much higher than the market would seem to support.
Thanks for this video. Just yesterday I bookmarked a watch on their site to purchase. There should be a website listing sellers to avoid. If there is already one would appreciate a link.
Yea... I had a similar experience with an online seller but ended up bypassing them and filed a complaint with Paypal that I used for the purchase and obtained a full reimbursement.
I bought a Deep Blue Master 1000 a few years ago and last year the crown would no longer screw down. It was out of warranty, so I sent the watch in to have this fixed with repair estimate and return shipping cost (about $100) last March. I called for updates after about 60 days, then 90 or so…now they don’t even answer calls or emails! So unnecessary! They could have replaced the entire movement for half the repair cost (NH35)
I had a minor issue recently. I'm a fan of oris watches I brought my first oris abut 3 years ago which was the green aquis and was interested in a the big crown pro pilot black and big crown bronze. So over the new year period i had a look and saw that the place I got my first oris had both in stock for a discounted price. I go ahead and order them both and waited for delivery. The big crown bronze arrived and was fine and a stunning watch, The big crown Pro pilot was delayed by a day which is no issue. However when I opened it I realised there was no protective stickers and no tag which both my other 2 oris watches arrived with I then check the watch over and released it was most likely a display piece as it hadn't been cleaned very well.
Good man for honoring your father. Also, I bought a Hamilton Khaki Day Date a year and half ago and sold it on EBay a couple weeks ago to find it was probably fake. I never bothered to Authenticate a $450 dollar watch, and the buyer is not making a big deal about it, but did make sure to tell me what his watchmaker said. I will definitely be more careful going forward.
This watch is not available anymore so it’s a bit tough BUT if it’s still in production and you would like a new one PLEASE for the love of god buy from an authorized dealer. The savings going grey nowadays just isn’t all that significant anymore, if you have a relationship with an AD it’s even better as they will offer some sort of discount to close the gap. You’re buying an incredibly expensive watch, spend that few hundred bucks and get that quality brand experience, support and peace of mind. Not to mention you can walk out of the store with it. If you buy from brand boutiques, there is no discount but they will usually “throw in” some cool giveaways and or send you off with an extra alligator strap and deployant buckle. Those gifts alone will run you $800, not to mention you’ll be on their VIP list and a glass of Scotch to enjoy while you’re there! 😂 BUY FROM ADs and support legitimate business.
The same thing happened to me on eBay 😡 the seller actually called me on the phone (witch has never happened ever in my life). He told me there was a 15$ restocking fee for a Casio A168WE.
Your not liable to pay a restocking fee on an item they failed to deliver. Delivery is their responsibility. Your responsibility is to pay for the product, which you did. I’d tell them that they need to either deliver the product or give you a full refund, or they’ll be hearing from your lawyer!
Always nice to hear people's horror stories like this as it warns others of potential issue and also we can avoid doing business with sketchy people that have no idea how to treat their customers. They lose a sale and possibly future sales of many from wanting to squeeze an extra $40. Really ridiculous.
require a 10% restocking charge when it was their incompetence, bloody hell, you stayed pretty calm. I'd have been pissed, enough for a visit to them. Fair play Jory
Did they ever know who they’re dealing with!?! What a dumb way to treat a high price paying customer. Simply sucks big time. Thanks for the heads up and people like this should fail fast.
Nice present. Go into a store and actually look at what you are buying. It is impossible to know if a website is reputable by looking at their website. I’m surprised you are so trusting.
Know the website. Sometimes okay, sometimes some serious shenanigans. I'd recommend you take it up with your bank/card issuer. Send all the info to them, all emails and documentation and let them sort it out.
Happy Chanukah! Sorry for your inconvenience. You are a lot more level-headed than moi. I would have been looking for a brick. FWIW, in my area, the "last mile" is typically done by the same driver. I usually have drop-off or return agreements in place with the driver.
Never never never do a wire transfer…. Those are non-returnable. Ach can be reversed. This sounds like fraud on their part and let them know you will tell your credit company the same
FedEx are a huge pain in the ... lately, they don’t even try to make a delivery for ''signature required'' items, they just say they missed you but no note, no effort to deliver at all. Thanks for heads up for the authetic watches !
They also sell on Amazon. Their rating as a seller is ~5% negative but in the last 12 months it has gone to 33% negative. They may have had a changing of the guard, so best to avoid. Sorry about your experience.
Wow, that sounds super scammy, especially the wire transfer and restocking fee. That is total BS. Thanks for letting us know. I'll never do business with that website.
I would tell them if I don’t see a full refund in my account in 24 hours they will no longer be talking to me….just my lawyer. That’s a ridiculous way to treat a customer and especially a customer spending that amount.
I watched this video today (1/24/22) and my blood was boiling by the end of your story. I'm sorry you had to endure this unfortunate experience, curious about the result of your trevail, and hopeful it ended in your favor. Oh, and yeah, send cash to rectify their mistake. I'm sure THAT would have gone well. Brilliant! Thank you for another wonderful video and for warning us about their website; I'll certainly avoid it.
I know this was a year ago, but if this happens to anyone what you need to do is threaten a credit card chargeback. Generally, that should get them to give you a full refund because they won't want to pay the chargeback fee. But if they don't, call up your bank and explain the situation. This situation would definitely warrant one.
Camera stores used this scam, years ago. The order never arrives, they ask you to pay more to reship or try to upsell, then charge a restocking fee when you refuse. Dispute all transactions and move on.
I just found an Oris L.E. Chronoris I'm liking for sale on their website. I have three Oris's already so I'm an actual buyer. I emailed them that I won't be ordering from them after hearing about their shady practices.
Hey Jory, I love the new setup it looks fantastic. I like the Sat time for the live stream That time works best for me in Central Time. I am very sorry to hear about your bad watch buying experience. Some people just really SUCK!. On the bright side you still get that watch for your dad. Hit up some of the RU-vid watch dudes I am sure they can point you to a REAL deal for that time piece. We have a great community here. Cheers!
Dan Henry. Ordered a watch which never arrived. UPS confirmed it was a lost package. Dan Henry refused to replace or refund the watch. I had to go through my bank.
That's incredibly bad customer service, shocking!! Coincidentally I've just bought an Aqua Terra for my Dad for Xmas - fortunately I had a smooth easy transaction. Cheers mate 👍👍
I suspect the intention on their part is some flavor of insurance/claim grift. I’ve had similar experiences with other sellers. When delivery goes sideways, most people contact the deliverer (fedex/ups), and they’ll generally begin the process of a claim. The seller will submit paperwork to fedex/ups regarding the item’s value, fedex/ups refunds value of item to purchaser, and the seller gets to keep your money- for an item they never actually shipped.
Jory, very fun video. Only thing is the audio was very very low (compared to other YT videos I saw before and after yours). You should check it out. Best regards
