So I bought a mvmt watch for about $100 a few months ago. It was my first watch purchase. I was gonna buy another one to go with different outfits when I stumbled on this video. I'm bummed about the lack of quality from my watch, but I appreciate the honest review and I will now gravitate towards the brands you recommended. I want to learn more about what to expect from a watch for the price I'm getting it and I really value your educational contribution here. You have a new sub from me 👍

This makes my $50 Timex Expedition work watch look even better, and I doubt this will still work in 17 years like my Timex.

I got one of their watches back in 2014, it arrived several months after the shipping date and had stained hands, dust under the gkass, and stopped working a week after it arrived. I contacted them and they gave me a replacement watch. This time the watch came within a week (delivered to Australia). after a month of very light use the arms and minute markers had fallen off. Good to see they've improved the packaging though

1. Ship with water leak into the packaging 2. Open the case 3. Start the watch * The watch start ticking 4. Look at back, saw the words "WATER RESISTANT" "Hey, this is a good watch with water resistant!!"

YT: *recommends* me: "whoa, this dude has an awesome beard" TTT: "No, i will not shave my beard off" me: Good.

Didn’t watch the whole vid, but my experience with them back in 2016 goes like this: Bought the watch and it arrived a week later than expected. After opening it up I went to change the time by pulling the side crown out. The crown pulled out “too much” and wasn’t able to be put back in. The watch itself broke right there. Sent it in and never got a refund. Since then I’ve found better ways to blow $118.

My favorite Orient watch is living on the freeway now thanks to a quick release strap. Don't wear quick release straps while riding motorcycles.

I swear to god i have the same watch literally the exact same! it doesn't just look like it , it's literally the same copycat one but without the logo and i bought it for 4 dollars it an egyptian market here in egypt!

Anything over 43mm is not a watch it’s a clock.

What really makes me angry about these "watches" is that for many people $100 is a a lot of money that they can't afford to waste and it's disgusting that MVMT has the cheek to offer this garbage to the public. Buy a Casio, buy a Citizen, buy a Timex.

I was a part of the Watch of the Month Club for about 5 months. Basic membership. I received 3 MVMT watches out of 5. All the watches were crap. I did keep a Dive Watch from them for a couple years even though I knew it retailed on Amazon for $35 - Recommended Manufacturer's Retail Price $335. LOL! I tossed the other 4 immediately because they felt and looked like garbage. The whole experience is also why I stopped the waste of time Watch Club.

MVMT is basically the Ray Cons of watches. Most of the money goes into advertising and the look(the packaging looks and feels better then the thing itself.) rather then actual product

I remember looking at one online and then I randomly looked up cheapest watches on Amazon a few days later just to see, and lo and behold there's literally a 3 dollar watch that is exactly the same face as the MVMT one but only difference is that it has the MVMT logo on it.

I did not like this review, you were unfair to Mvmt. You should have been far more explicit about how thoroughly awful that piece of pig turd really is. An Inflicta is better. Yes, even an Inflicta.

So I've had my MVMT Revolver for almost 2 years now and I think it feels really high quality, the glass and the leather is still fine. The water resistance is great. I've had China watches before for half the price which were actually bad but this one is really nice. I love the design with the rounded glass and the watch face too.

Imagine spending 5 more dollars and getting an orient bambino, this thing is a joke!

In all fairness it's probably impossible to keep the lint or cat hair out when your assembling watches on a dirt floor with your hands and feet.

Back in university I bought a MVMT when they first came out, I bought it not knowing anything about watches, I threw it out after a year. A few years ago I wanted an affordable and professional watch. I bought a Timex, absolutely amazing watch for the price point.

I used to work for short time (1 year) in the watch production industry. We had a saying. If there is anything quality wise you can see from the outside, then don't bother with the inside. Through that piece to garbage directly.

While I agree completely with your assessment about MVMT, also remember that their marketing engine convinced Movado (why, I do not know), to write them a purchase check for $100M. Pretty amazing. Have got to give the guys props for that feat.

Before I got into watches, someone gave me a MVMT. I knew nothing about the hobby and could tell from the first moment I picked it up that it should've been a $5 watch at most.

This watch is almost as high level as my character in RAID: Shadow Legends.

Imagine if proper watch companies learnt how to market like MVMT, especially Seiko

I'm happy you actually bought the watch instead of taking a sponsor sample where they could have given you a more polished version. This shows a more accurate version of what an average consumer would get.

Hey I dig your videos! I've been into watches pretty hard since I was 7 because my grandpa collected watches and he would let me check them out. He knew I loved them so when I was 12 he gave me a vintage digital watch from his collection. Pretty cool. He also collected knives which rubbed off on me as well. fun fact: Mvmt is a private labeled dropshipping brand. the founder of mvmt is the middle man and orders the watches cheap from suppliers in china. Which would explain the quality.

My wife bought me one of these bc she knew I was into watches. Knowing what we know about MVMTH, I still love the watch bc she cared enough to get me one :) I save it for formal events.

This makes perfect sense. It feels like Movements as a brand is targeted at the "influencer" market. They like the "retro" fad, and the watch being as big as it is, its a nice "flex". I dont think a majority of that market will take the time to appreciate the watch most collectors do, so these flaws will go unnoticed for the most part.

As someone who repairs watches for a living, I appreciate videos like this. I said exactly what you said early on. They're a marketing company first, and a watch company last. Hilarious. My favorite part is when a fanboy seriously asks me what I think of his new watch. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I remember when Michael Kors watches were a must have. I sold a guy a really nice ladies Eco-Drive for his wife for Christmas. $300. All solid stainless. Rose tone and steel. Mother of pearl dial. He left. She came back to the store with him after Christmas.....and I QUOTE..."If I had known you were going to spend $300, I would've told you to get me a Michael Kors." Of course we had a discussion about Citizen vs Eco Drive, but honestly she already had the idea in her mind that Michael Kors was basically a luxury watch and the Eco-Drive was pure garbage. I'm so glad I'm not in retail anymore and just repair watches from home. 🤦🏻‍♂️

The comments on their social ads are getting hilarious! At least half are warning others about this junk, one or two people defending them (???) And a few naive folk tagging their even more naive friends who usually respond with 😍 or 😮. That last segment is definitely 95% of MVMT's sales.

To be fair, I have seen Tag and Tissot quartz watches where the seconds hand misses most indices.

TBH I was staring at the Rolex's secondhand in the beginning, it moves beautifully.

If you do happen to have a MVMT watch and the battery runs out, definitely DO NOT throw it away. Spend $2.00 for a new battery and continue using the watch.

I always thought these cheap watches were sold under the guide of semi-luxury and "fresh / cool / hip" brands. It's crazy that they are more overpriced than actual quality products.

I bought an Pulsar watch that has a Hattory VX 42 E. Work for a year. Upon inspection the circuit fried. Had a water damaged one and use the circuit board from it to fix it. A brand new movement for it cost it cost $ 11,67. The battery cost $ 2. So I'm happy fixing it instead throwing $ 100 for it. A Q $ Q uses M.Yota movement and thy are excellent, and a simple watch cost $ 5

I got a MVMT M02 waaaay back when they were still a new brand. I think I got it 2014? Genuine leather strap that's actually stamped with their logo, hits all the indexes fine, no dust under the glass, nice rose gold metal with a black face. So it's kinda weird seeing how in such a short amount of time they've went from "very clearly a form over function" watch, but still not a slap in the face, to a pure marketing exercise that really is a slap in the face. Back in 2014 I couldn't find a super minimal watch I liked except the MVMT, so I don't regret buying it, but I think any future purchases will be a Starking.

I bought my MVMT watch in 2015, by the look of this video it seams like they have gotten cheaper and worse quality control, my one did not / still doesn't have any dust below the glass, also no tooling marks on the metal, the strap was genuine leather and back then you also got a storage case for the watch, and back then I could not find another watch at in price range that matched that esthetics. But yeah I would not buy one today.

That dust on the dial is literally unacceptable, and this watch just looks cheap! $100? Hell no! After seeing this video I started to think DW is actually not that bad😂, I mean at least it doesn't look cheap, right?

I had this watch for exactly 2 days. Wore it in the gun range (I shoot with my left hand) and the recoil busted the movement. I normally remove my watches when shooting IF they're an automatic and not a quartz - didn't know I have to remove this one. edit: my duty watch is either a Luminox; or a TIMEX Expedition which is cheaper than this one and they're still up and running.

You can get those movements for 5 bucks on ali express right now, they're on sale. Regular price is $7.13, but you get a 10% discount if you buy 5 or more. That is a lot of marketing markup, damn.

this watch is perfect for me, i have a crappy quartz $30 kmart watch, almost identical measurement, and similar watch face design. Fits perfectly, feels a bit heavy but I love its looks. This is only $125 (sale) here in Aus, and perfect for my second nice watch (first being apple watch se 😂. Might get my parents to buy it for my 19th next year haha.
