This is a bit unfair, you and death battle are using a composite Lora Croft from different media and different timelines, either stick with the classic or legend timeline. And if you do then it’s clear who the winner is. Strength and speed is actually equal, but stamina and durability win drake this one not to mention all of the greater artefacts he has. Lara has high stamina and wall level durability, while Nathan has superhuman levels of stamina. Despite getting shot and losing a lot of blood, he still managed to defeat a group of mercenaries. Later, he would power through a Himalayan blizzard while still bleeding out and not wearing the appropriate gear and clothing. Defeated groups of mercenaries in an abandoned village after roaming the Rub' Al Khali desert or two straight days without any food or water. The only and yeah Nathan could definitely survive being impaled like she did, she immediately got her self out of that and then healed. Nathan had to keep his injures while in temperatures that would kill Lara and he did this for days. The bullet stayed in his body the spike left her almost immediately. And when Lara goes to the snowy mountains she has to wear a coat. As for his durability she survived a few minor explosions and helicopter crashes that were wall level but Nathan has survived small building level attacks. He was blown up alongside Charlie Cutter by an RPG, which yielded this much energy. Was blown up by a tank shell but was only knocked back. Has tanked multiple RPG explosions on several occasions. Has taken blows from Lazarević, Talbot and Nadine). His luck makes him somewhat difficult to kill. Also yes he has supernatural luck so it’s not just gonna run out gun fire and hits on a fight literally miss him because of his luck. He’s also fought and held his own against Nadine who was a much better martial artist.

The Nadine fights were absolute bullcrap. Nathan was downgraded so hard for her to win and it was laughably obvious. I mean, what the hell happened to his reflexes? They were insanely advanced in Uncharted 3 whereas in the Nadine fights they were literally nowhere to be seen. But that’s just one of the many issues with those fights. Also, Nathan’s style of fighting is far from street arts. Name me 1 street fighter that fights anything like Nathan. ‘Cuz if there were any, then how come Nate can effortlessly defeated trained ex-military personnel, yet average street thugs can’t?

You guys never play the original tomb raiders OG Lara was basically Batman. Trained in all forms of hand-to-hand combat weapons training acrobatics and genius level intellect. As much as I love Nathan (literally Platinum trophies in every game) I knew Lara was take it

DB chose that lethal event for irony and spectacle; but if it hadn't been that it would have been some other attack from Lara, sooner or later. Nate just didn't have the physical ability or skills to keep up with her. Lara didn't win because a helicopter rotor pierced Nathan; she won because the analysis said she should. The rotor is just how they chose to play out that outcome.

Which is precisely why its fitting to have him die by bad luck.

Yeah Lara would always win in my book too. Admittedly that' s mostly because Lara's available on all platforms whereas Nathan is a PS exclusive I mainly game on PC not on Playstation so I'm more familiar with Lara. Also playing games like these with my disability I find it easier on mouse and keyboard than on controller and seeing as I can play TR on PC but not Uncharted for me means Lara wins again. Not sayin that Nathan's a ba dcharacter but with Uncharted being a PS exclousive it's unlikely I'll ever play it. Must admi talso that I've got a bit of a crush on the reboot Lara based on how well Camilla portrayd her.

They explained that the reason they had Nathan die the way he did was to show that no matter how lucky you are, you still have to be comparable to your opponent skillwise and fact of the matter is is that Lara was just too skilled and to show that even with somebody with as much luck as Nathan, luck will eventually run out

Keep in mind that Drake didn't die from being pierced by a propeller. He died because the helicopter exploded, and it exploded because of Croft's badass axe throw. It was her skill and strength that ended the fight.

While any NORMAL person would eventually run out of luck, Nathan Drake doesn't. At the very least, it should have been a stalemate because Drake's Luck cancels out Croft's Skill.

@@danieldickson8591 Yes. Lara is way more Skill than Luck. She's accomplished everything she has because she's smarter and better than those she's "competing" against. Nathan Drake is mostly Luck. He's smart, sure. But he's not a trained fighter or shooter like Lara. He's not a seasoned adventurer like Lara. He's some punk kid who just happens to be pretty good at climbing and parkour. He's highly intelligent and learns quickly (he learned how to fight from Sully and experience). He's also a pretty damned good thief. But he's no fighter. He gets out of his scrapes mostly due to Luck. The biggest difference is that Lara (outside of the modern reboot) always knows what she's doing. She always has a plan. She's the Batman of Archaeology and Adventure. Nathan Drake never has a plan beyond, "We're going here to look for this." He makes it up as he goes and, literally, Lucks into a solution for every situation.

@@TheBadassTonberry An old rule of writing a fight scene is to throw out the first five endings that come to mind. This forces you to think outside the box regarding fight progression and make the battle memorable with a creative end. I feel like some of the writers of Death Battle are following that rule a little too strictly. Though it did likely give us some of the most satisfying deaths in the show (who would've predicted Yang's neck-snapping double recoil blasts, for example?).

Dude. Nathan has fought Smoke Gods, Djinn’s, Guardians, and Zombies. He doesn’t JUST fight soldiers and pirates… Also, yes, luck does run out. But oh my God, can everyone stop assuming for 2 goddamn seconds that Nathan’s entirely reliant on luck?! His luck ONLY kicks in throughout the games when he’s placed into situations where he’s literally mere seconds away from DYING and has no means of avoiding it. That’s it. Everything else (his shooting accuracy, his climbing and fighting techniques, his encyclopaedic historical knowledge, etc.) are all genuine skill that make up most of Uncharted’s runtime. Jesus Christ.

They stated in their podcast that they heavily considered that, but this was a far more popular request, and at the time hype was surrounding the new Tomb Raider movie and game, so it seemed to be the right time to put in a character from the series (just like they put Megazord vs. Voltron around the Power Rangers movie, and Thor vs. Wonder Woman around Thor: Ragnarok).

But Nathan's a human (/ superhuman protagonist)... all the abnormal stuff in the world doesn't make you better than another human.

Way to downgrade Nathan yet wank off Lara. She’s not tougher; Nathan has shrugged off tank rockets, RPG explosions, and near-direct grenade blasts effortlessly (none of which DEATH BATTLE decided to list in the fight). He’s survived attacks from beasts capable of shattering ~30 ton boulders just by throwing them at him and casually gets up after falling tremendous heights into his gut. Even if Lara outclasses Nathan in every category, it’s only by a very slight edge that her advantages aren’t terribly significant. Plus, Nathan throughout the games has fought opponents that outclass him yet still ends up winning anyway (she’s faster? Well, Nathan has fought foes that can teleport long distances anytime and monsters that can phase into walls as shadows, so that’s not much of an advantage at all). What Lara lacks is Nathan’s luck, which is also something she’s never faced once. His luck is the very thing that intercepts bullet trajectories (hence why he’s only ever been shot once in canon) and breaks him out of situations where he should’ve really died in.

That isnt true, superior training yes, more strength? No. Nate casually beating whole militias, Lara is getting kidnapped and knocked out(at least in the new ones)

Name 1 time Nathan has ever willingly placed his reliance on blind luck alone. His greatest feats come from him using his intelligence, determination, and genuine skill set to succeed. Him surviving the bullet wound in Uncharted 2 has almost nothing to do with luck. Luck didn’t just carry him through the train, give him a boost in strength to push through everything, etc. That was all Nathan’s genuine tenacity and skill set. His luck only kicked in once he passed out and just so happened to wander into Tenzin by pure coincidence alone, THAT’S luck. Everything else? The climbing, the fighting, the shooting? That was all him. Nathan isn’t 100% reliant on luck contrary to popular belief. He’s still very capable without it, and in fact, Lara doesn’t hold a significant edge over Nathan in terms of stats. All advantages she does hold aren’t terribly greater than Nathan’s, they’re actually very similar in feats. Nathan’s luck only ever tends to kick in on situations where he’s practically doomed for failure and has no ways of surviving. For instance if he’s blown out of a plane flying over a desert or if he’s shot by someone and has no means of dodging it. Those are only ever really the moments where Nathan’s luck bails him out. Otherwise, I guess Nathan doesn’t know anything about history and is just making lucky guesses that so happen to be correct. He can’t speak several languages such as 16th century Latin and Spanish, he’s just guessing what they’re saying and so happens to move his tongue in the correct positions that he mimics the language accordingly. I guess he doesn’t know how to climb, all of the techniques he uses such as dynoing, buildering, etc. are just him winging it but it so happens to look like real climbing techniques. You see why that argument falls so goddamn flat? Nathan isn’t 100% reliant on luck. He’s a very capable individual on his own and there’s a great reason he’s pulled off impressive feats that can’t be attributed to ‘good luck’.

TBH, Screwattack did Nathan very dirty when actually factoring the feats into the results. They overlooked circumstances, downplayed Nathan, and moreso gave us the smaller picture with Nate while sticking purely to the upsides of Lara. For instance, they stated that Lara is capable of keeping a cooler head than Nathan in more tense situations and they used Nathan’s rational behaviour in Uncharted 2 as an example. Even though Lara has also blindly lashed out of emotion before (such as in the Reboot games where she accidentally flooded a town and was blindly trying to pursue the villain instead of help the people, which is fairly valid since DEATH BATTLE was literally using feats from reboot Lara). There was also the fact that Nathan has managed to keep a cool head when in tense situations (in Eye of Indra, when he was cornered and down to his last clip of his gun, his plan was to hide it, intentionally get caught and tortured, and then snag the gun at the right opportunity and kill them, which ended up working perfectly). TBH, Death Battle really failed hard in this video in so many categories it’s laughable.

That doesn’t excuse the quality of the fight being so bad however. That’s like saying a bad movie is just for entertainment and its quality shouldn’t be taken into consideration. They make the fights for us, so if we dislike it due to the characters they’re pitting against each other being a bit unfaithful to their original source material, then that’s an issue on the animator’s parts, not ours.

Also, OK, if Nathan’s ‘luck’ ran out at the end of the fight (hence why the helicopter propellor impales him instead of landing next to him or impaling Lara instead, which would’ve happened if Nathan’s luck was actually portrayed accurately in this fight), then name me 1 other instance of Nathan’s luck being present in this whole damn fight. Not once does it actually kick in under any circumstances, which is odd for the guy that DEATH BATTLE chalked up as purely reliant on blind luck. Lara throughout the fight was the lucky one (I mean, Nathan, who never once flew a helicopter in the series, flies off in a conveniently stationed helicopter that just so happened to be resting in a pad in the middle of the desert and Lara knows how to blow them up with her climbing axe? THAT’S luck right there).

I should tell you that Link vs. Cloud was very early on in the show, and has been an episode they specifically have mentioned dozens of times in the podcast as an episode they either wish to redo and should have done differently. Of course, they aren't specifically saying Cloud would win, but they've cited certain pieces of the episode (e.g. Cloud not being able to summon) as things that should be fixed. But, you know, Link has bested creatures that can move moons and destroy countries, so it'd still be a good fight.
