I'm NOT Playing the Game After This! The Last of Us 1x1 Reaction "When You're Lost in the Darkness" 

If it makes you feel any better, I've seen that scene literally 100 times in the game and it still made me cry. Incredibly acted in this version.

I absolutely LOVE that you've gotten into the exact same headspace as Joel: the loss of Sarah hurt so much that you're trying really hard to NOT start caring for someone new, no matter how likeable or cute she might be. :)

"Could be the biscuits" is a great theory. They didn't have pancakes in the morning, and Joel forgot to bring the cake.

You realized a small detail that most people didnt realize, they did not eat the pancakes cake nor the cookies, the cordyceps has been spreading through mass/pasta/doughs and that is revealed in a newspaper in the game that you can completely miss really easily.

I kind of love that a whole new audience is getting traumatized by the start of TLoU, join us in our pain!

Apparently the largest flour mill in the world is in jakarta, and that's why they mentioned jakarta. So the fungus probably came from the flour, and the mill/factory probably supply a lot of food manufacture around the world

The whole scene in the car at the beginning is almost 1 for 1 to the game. The whole thing seems super close and accurate and I can’t wait to see the rest of series. Be ready with a lot of tissues, you’ll need them 😬

Wow im actually impressed you rapidly figured out it was food made with flour that caused the infection at first. I didnt even picked up on that until they explained it in the show

At the end in the last scene you can actually one of the infected on top of the building roaring, as they are walking in the rain. It's on the left side

That start scene is as brutal in the game as it is in this episode and yes it is hard to watch no matter how many times to you see it. Humans can be such stupid ass-holes and I would absolutely believe this would happen in real life.

It's been a hobby for me to introduce people do this game and story for many years now 😁 first time i played it i was 9 and i remember every single minute of it and since then i've come to love and apreciate even more as the years has past... to now see people as yourself experience this story for the first time as a show is making me smile so much 😆 i do recomend trying as hard as you can to avoid spoilers in every way possible and just enjoy every moment of this journey... Being born in raised in Austin TX it was so cool seeing a main character coming from there, especially near Travis County which is in Del Valle TX. I did enjoy the games and I'm loving the show and the changes they made with it. Loved your reaction Sarah's scene get me everything.

Cordydeps does indeed keep it's victim alive, by, as the intro explained, preventing decomp by producing antimicrobials like penicillin. AS such, infected can stay mobile and a threat to people for a time. Eventually though decomp will set in after enough time has passed, and at this point, the fungus will merely continue growing and eating what remains of it's host. The body becomes a source of a new large fungal fruiting body, and will spread from that central point as far as it can.

What's crazy is that the game makes you cry in the first scene as well and it only builds the relationship with his daughter for about 13-15 mins... It's wild the chemistry they had in the game. Joel beating the guard down is to show what he is capable of.

Blw in the scene of the school classroom u can see someone of the kids twitching which is a sign of infection and the biscuits on both accounts as well as the cake they forgot plus the pancake mix all most likely had the infection in and joel and sarah narrowly missed eating it which is why they didn't get infected cool detail

The “zombies” in the last of us aren’t zombies. Zombies are reanimated dead people that feed on the living. The infected in tlou aren’t reanimated it’s a cordyceps (fungus) that attacks the host keeping it alive to spread and infect more people. This means the host is still alive and aware of what is happening without any control of what they do. So far this aspect hasn’t been explored in the show but in the game you can hear some of the runners (first stage of infection) crying because that’s pretty much all they have control over but even then it’s just a noise they make. Also 5:45 you we’re watching the backstory of the watch unfold.

A lotta Texans have a more midwestern-type accent than the classic Tyeaxan drawl, especially up north towards Austin. My dad is from Dallas/Ft Worth area and he sounds Midwestern, and Austin is what he considers "the weirdo non-Texas" part of Texas. To me the accent never stuck out as an issue

Joel has a side gig, but he's sort of laying low, doing odd jobs most people don't want to do. He doesn't want to join the military because of what happened to Sarah, and he wants nothing to do with the Fireflies either. He just wants to get by. 26:19 Yup! Joel said that Marlene "turned my own brother against me" and you speculated maybe that's why Tommy didn't respond. All during the same scene you get to "you guys have bad blood between you?". If you hear a lot of electronic synthesizer the song isn't pre-80s Because synthesizers became more readily accessible, they became part of most "mainstream hits" music in at least 1/2 of the 80s. and were basically unheard of in the music industry before.

In real life (and in the game) the Cordyceps fungus spreads via airborne spores. The game has areas where they’re visible in the air like a fog, and you automatically put on a full-face gas mask to traverse the area. They changed it in the show to have people infected by tendrils, direct physical contact, and ingesting contaminated food, because realistically if it spread via airborne spores we’d be screwed. They’re microscopic, they’d stick to your clothes, even in small concentrations they’d be lethal-we’d have no chance. It’s notable that in real life each species of cordyceps only targets a single species of insect. I suspect cordyceps in TLoU would only target humans.
