So that "elk, rabbit, etc." James was saying was all they had left were those people hanging up in the freezer...

Joel is at about 5 percent health and is ripping through multiple fully armed men like they are wet noodles.

This episode had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Bella deserves an Emmy for her incredible performance

Fun fact if you didn’t know - the guy Ellie kills at the table with the cleaver is the guy who plays and voices Joel in the game. Must’ve been hard for him to be in the role of the enemy to Ellie, when he played her father figure before.

James was really adamant about killing Ellie before they brought her back, but he didn’t seem very violent or malicious… which makes me think that maybe he was trying to have her go the easier way versus being with David and/or the human butcher shop

David really is the most disgusting character in the game and the show. Almost every other character we meet has at least some shades of gray to their character. There really aren't any true bad guys or good guys for that matter. Except David. He's truly a monster. The way he uses religion to dominate and control his people. The way he manipulates people's insecurities to make them feel powerless and make them feel like they have to rely on him completely. The out of control ego and God complex. He's horrifying. Notice how when he's talking to Ellie he tells her that without him she's truly alone. I think he picks up on how ending up alone is one of her greatest fears and tries to use it against her by saying only he can fix that. He wants to make her dependent on him. Classic cult leader stuff. He's so disgusting.

I was also worried about ellie talking back to david and hurting his finger while still locked up. I thought she was being dumb. She’s lucky she had the scar to use as a reason to get them to not kill her.

David is _so much scarier_ in the show. In the game he's a weasely creepy guy; but here he's fucking real.

David's intentions with Ellie always seems so obvious to me, so when I watch reactors miss the clues and get to the flaming boss battle with a surprised Pikachu face, I remember that CPTSD has generously provided me a finely tuned creep radar system that not everyone shares.

You play as both Ellie and Joel during this part of the game, you switch between them back and forth.

Honestly? What makes it more terrifying is that the only reason she was able to get free is because he didn't notice the cleaver and he released her hand to open his pants... Like...bits horrifying because there are no clickers but there are a lot of David's in the real world.

I absolutely loved Troy Baker haha for a moment I was rooting for him cuz I kept hearing Joel's voice. Now I will be entirely honest about the episode, this has been one arc that I kinda liked better in the game, I can't really put my finger around what it is that I feel was missing. I still liked it of course and that last part was great but also something about the game is that Joel is the one who stops her when she's stabbing David and it kinda made her look more vulnerable

While the deer is huge for her to carry or drag back, no idea how far from Joel she is at this point, but if she bagged the deer and had it to "drag back" she carries a knife. While it would be a waste of resources (Frank to Bill Ep 3, "if you say resource management...") she could cut the deer open, possibly skin it, take as much meat as she could realistically carry and leave the rest. It's not like it's going to rot quickly in sub-freezing temperatures, but once it freezes, it would be harder to carve off more. But even 20 or so pounds of deer would feed Ellie and Joel for a number of days. Trek back to Joel, cut the meat into more cookable portions, hang them upstairs to be frozen. Extra few minutes to cook from frozen, might not be able to achieve medium well, or well done, without burning the outside, but food for at least several days. 6:08-6:12 "If he's a true preacher he will" (please define "true preacher" He found religion and faith, and became a preacher; when his calling as a teacher became effectively defunct.) 6:17-6:19 _assuming_ as would be the case for a drug such as Penicillin, it's in its original vial/bottle, once out of the vial, it's contaminated if placed in another container, the vial/bottle would have the "general dosage guidelines" which are intended to be safe for a human, but a doctor may call for a lesser (uncommon) or higher (more common than lesser) dosage for a specific situation. I'm not a doctor, I have no medical training, but I've been worked on in several hospitals, I've worked in several hospitals, and spent time discussing a lot of medical matters with nurses and doctors, as well as delivered a breech birth set of twin sheep, extracting a bullet from a ram and successfully tending the wound (initial extraction assisted by a friend who was to take her CNA exam soon) identified and treated (treatment under a veterinarian's "here is what you need to do" insight) a pinkeye outbreak among a flock of sheep and goats, calculated dosages of de-worming medicine based on weight of each animal, when a scale wasn't feasible. Ellie would need to "guess Joel's weight" and base dosages off that. but if she's within 80 pounds of his weight she has zero chance of overdosing him, and if she's within 20 pounds of his weight has zero chance of significantly underdosing him, if she just goes by the label.

I reacted to this episode just like u! I thought i was slow bc other reactors were getting the cannibalism and pedophilia before I did. It took the ear for me to get the former, and it took the hand on hand on the cell bars for me to get the latter. Even when he is on top of ellie and says ‘the fighting is the part I like the most’, I said ‘the part of what?’. Im naive lol. I thought maybe he just meant he likes when people he is trying to kill, fight back.

Everyone seems to agree that this episode is a tough one to watch. But it hits way different when you lived through sexual assault and the related trauma. Especially while very young. Sadly, I haven't been able to watch this full episode and probably never will (or any reactions to the last part). I couldn't play this part of the game either. My dad had to play through it for me so I could finish the rest of the game afterward. I suffer from PTSD among other mental illnesses, and any depiction of sexual assault or any type of serious violence against children gives me flashbacks. The actor playing Creepy McGee did an excellent job in his role in the parts I saw. He managed to give off a disturbing feel even when he was being "nice." When he's grooming Ellie in her cell, it was horrific enough that I almost shut off the show there for my own sanity. Instead, I've stopped watching the episode itself and every reaction since when Ellie kills Troy Baker. The rest of the story I know only from having been told what happens. This show has had plenty of dark moments, but this one takes all the cakes. The grooming behavior toward children, the fact that Creepy McGee mentioned he used to be a teacher (and the implications of that), the cannibalism, the attempted sexual assault... They really went dark here. Especially the part where Creepy McGee is watching the girl eat a stew that was presumably made from her own father. I could be wrong about that, but he seemed very fascinated by watching her shovel that down. Just ick. I've enjoyed this show and the game before it. Both had a little bit I had to skip, but the show is the only one that had me feeling somewhat nauseous through the majority of this part. I think that speaks to some excellent writing and acting. Even if it wasn't as pleasant or comfortable to watch as the rest of the series. The scariest part of this episode is that disgusting monsters like Creepy McGee actually exist. I know. And it's a sad note that in every apocalyptic show I've seen, somehow, it's the humans that are always the worst antagonists of all.
