Springsteen should be honored. This guy is a legend on his own. Only Canadian to win blues challenge in Memphis Tennessee. Outplays his venues every time
He's a blues player. The only Canadian to win the blues challenge in Memphis Tennessee. Those old timers should be honored he's doing their cover. This is coming from someone who grew up with an old man who made us appreciate the classics. ACDC, Zeppelin, The Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Dylan, the Band, the list is endless. You probably grew up in the music age. Kids of the late 80s and further grew up in the video then internet age. You had the best music we had the best videos. Music is so manufactured now it's the same 3 choruses, same 3 mins length, and same songs repeated over and over again. Take away the electronics and give em a mic and see how well their voice sounds. Matt Andwrsen is pure talent
@@TheMasterblaster32 damn man, blows my mind that people haven't heard Matt before. The number of times I've seen this guy live...makes me wonder what music I haven't discovered yet
eminem tried to tell the kids, he knows, it is the moment, JUST loose it, BTW i am closer to 50 then 40, I love all good music, when the musician lets their soul bare and lets me in to their love and communication.
My favorite example of this is the classical pianist Daniil Trifonov. Before he starts a piece his body relaxes and it looks like he becomes possessed. There is a recording where he plays all Op. 25 Etüden of Chopin in one sitting where you can see what I mean. And nobody plays those pieces better in my opinion. It sounds like his entire soul is captured in his playing.
Drop D Tuning Start - D - Bm7 - D (Repeat how ever many times you want) First 2 Verses - D - G - Bm7 - G - A - D (x2) Last 2 Verses - G - Bm7 - D - G - Bm7 - G - {A - D}-repeat 2X Fill in how ever you wish with cross-picking or strumming. It all sounds good on this song.
I saw him perform about a year ago. He did a set with the New Brunswick Symphony Orchestra. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck and tears were running down my cheeks. He was that incredible. The only way I could describe his performance was that he CONSUMED the guitar. Strings were breaking and he still kept ripping the notes from it. PLEASE go see him if you get a chance.
I would consider myself pretty tough. I am a big Navajo/Cholo who has been around. I stumbled upon this song just barely and I hate to admit it, but I started to cry when I heard this. I don't know why. I have never really done that. I stopped what I was doing and listened. Tears just began to stream down. I was a little shocked. Great job man. You have a new fan.
That's the incredible power of music. I've heard this song a million times by many different artists, including myself, and also myself whilst jamming with other folks, and every single time it wets my cheeks and down my shirt.
Someone might not be that tough after all…but even the hardest need to let off some pressure at some point. Takes a real person to be open about it though. Perhaps youre tougher than you think.
Ye man ah’ a pa Huele……just when you think you’re the biggest and baddest…….something a gentle as a song can bring you to your knees. Strength is knowing our weakness and being able to know tenderness can become our strength.
Yes agree true beauty really does come from the soul appealing to us on an emotional level, bringing tears in its presence; the physical pleasures seeming mute and shallow in comparison. Makes me think singing and music is a great gift to mankind to be experienced and felt. I love his voice, the range the emotion; he takes us on a different journey in each song.
I’ve followed Matt since Stainers Warf, when he was grinding away in Halifax and the Maritimes. Its 2019 and I am sitting by the camp fire watching this video proudly. He is worth every penny if you get the chance to watch him live!
Man your my most favorite ever im only 18 an have been listening to you since I was 9 I look up to you your my hero you deserve more respect than what you get big man
Saw him in Vancouver a few months ago and still can't get his voice and presence out of my mind. He owned that stage, every one is the audience came alive when he was performing - but he has an incredibly humble spirit and generosity. I was like "holy shit - who is this guy" - he is like a superhero, he's incognito, he is so many things it is hard to put into words...
well never in a million years would i have thought anyone could make this song better than the original....but whew he took it and made it absolutely even more incredible! was already a fav song of mine, but now........wowwwwwwwww! wowwww! this man has such a huge career ahead of him!absolutely loved this far more than i could even begin to find words for! anybody that has not heard this man sure should!!
You Goooo Matt....Show them what us Atlantic Canadians can do. I remember the day i 1st saw you on Breakfast Television,,,i missed my drive to work cus i had to watch you....well worth it. BRAVO!!!!!!!
Been lucky enough to see this guy 3 times in my local vlllage hall here in north east Scotland only because his cousin lives here and he plays when he’s over from Canada or wherever he’s touring..... you have to see him play to experience how good he is. I’ve reluctantly dragged a few non blues fans with us on the last two occasions and watched their jaws hit the deck in awe . He’s so humble when you speak to him as well!
just came on to listen to Bruce sing this song. and what do you know. Here is Matt Andersen. I"m sitting in the house of the people that promote him. ... random... What a voice. This guy will be a true legend.
This guy noodles on his guitar and throws his head back for eight minutes to disguise the fact he’s remade I’m On Fire into a country song. A great, transformative cover.
saw him twice in 2010 and he just sold me totally... a weekend at the Mariposa folk festival in Orillia and he wowed the audience all three days... the man just stirs my soul
Hey listen, never ever be ashamed to get emotional over a song. Artists such as Matt put so much emotion into a song you can't help but to get caught up in it and get taken to a different place in your soul. Let the tears fall man, it's free therapy! Haha.
Met Matt last night at a concert in town. Was working merch for the show in the front lobby. Great performer...great person..... He basically stole the show. His new Christmas CD was a big seller....
the man does not need to be on any CBC show except the Juno`s, he is an award winner, and blows you out of your chair in concert, you are crying and dying and screaming inside
@Max Joseph I have to disagree, sure he had hits such as Dancing In The Dark and Born To Run that are played on radio stations every day, but it only takes listening to tracks such as The River and Thunder Road to get that "depth" you're looking for. He was never the best singer or guitarist but his lyrics and the way he delivers them are believable and soulful.
I will simply say this about u Mr Anderson, U are a wonderful singer. I am sooooo glad I searched for wagon wheel n came across u!!!! An amazing talent my darlin. Loved your performance. and just a great sing for sure.
Bro'....I gotta say. I absolutely hate Springstein like a pimple on a hemorrhoid but my God brother, you can sing!! That is absolutely haunting and you ARE the music! WOW!!! How are you not on the big screen bro??? I've never in my life seen or witnessed ANYBODY who was so much the entire thing....your pipes, your passion, your emotion, your music, your story, your song...YOU'RE A SUPERSTAR!!! A great friend of mine, Clint introduced me to your music a couple weeks back when he saw you in Kingston. My wife and I are definitely coming to see you next time Matt, you're a real treat to listen to, THANKS!
SO wonderful to see 'that grin' on a musician's face.. when every note is just perfect and he knows he puts a spell on his audience! Not at all uncommon for Matt :)
I was stunned when I played this the first time, just absolutely damned stunned. Hit my soul like nothing I've heard in a long long time. Somebody get this guy in a studio!
