congrats and good luck. The only thing i can say is don't ignore your weaknesses. If you suck at recordkeeping, get quickbooks. There should be plenty of reading of small retail success strategies. I'd never think to put do-dads and accessories at the point of purchase. i want you to succeed.
Congrats on opening a dream lab...best of luck! I miss my Zone VI enlarger darkroom days for sure. I still have and use my 120 film cameras although not as often these days.
Bless a new photo lab that actually has reasonable prices!!🙏🏻 Tired of seeing these ads of new labs on insta and elsewhere and then it’s like $15 for just development
You’re gonna do great! Mike had told me about the talks you had and I know you’re gonna do it the right way. I just joined a community spot where I can go develop my film, imacon scan etc and having a community space is so important. You’re gonna kill it!
Yo this is sick. Just got recommended this video and I’m in Wauwatosa. This is great! No more driving to over priced Brookfield store. Very exited for you and for this idea!
Super stoked for you man. I can't wait to see how the community aspect comes into play. I loved building micro communities when I was bartending and found it to be the most rewarding part of the job while making drinks just helped facilitate conversation. I think you're going to crush it
That would be my favourite thing ever if you brought your Coffee Shop/Film Lab to Oxford! A photo lab is literally the only thing this wonderful city is missing. Next time I’m in the US, I may send some film your way :)
Very cool! It is great to see a film lab in Milwaukee again. I've worked at a few pro labs over the years, It would be cool to see your space when you are set up.
I just gathered up a handful of rolls from around my house that are shot and about to send them out, then I saw this video. Will be sending these to you!
Are you processing all by hand or do you have some machines? I work at a lab and if you are getting machines you better set up a connection to get parts and you better know that machine inside and out. Best of luck.
@@ThePhotoDept Thanks:) Crazy, that you do it all with paterson tanks :D With the jobo machine you can do 8 rolls in one go. I have one, its really cool :)
i considered it, but the up front investment was too large and I heard a lot about them leaking chemistry. i might consider an automatic Jobo in the future, but I’m mostly focused on upgrading to dip and dunk.
