There comes a time in any career when you get to a certain point, you take a look around, and you’re like, you know what? I think I’m done. I’ve accomplished a lot. Met some great people. Made some great connections. Felt like I’ve actually contributed something to the world. And I just kind of feeling like, I’ve got nothing left to prove-and there’s no further that I want to take this. So this is goodbye.

I had the feeling that it was going to be about your retirement from the army 😁 I completely agree with you on the success of the channel, it’s about being consistent in delivering core values and a message for your readers/audience. In the influencers sphere, these people actually deliver content for themselves but not necessary for the benefit of their audience and, of course, without being consistent. Just found your channel and I’ve enjoyed browsing old content. Saw this video pop up and thought “aww crap I just found this dude” … relieved to hear you’re retired from the Army and not HSS. I can 100% relate to the feeling of being ready to put down one adventure for another (prior USAF). Amazing how quickly other goals are achieved when you realize “mission accomplished - let’s move on”. Congrats on retirement.

Congratulations on your retirement! I've been a fan and member of the channel for some time. Last year I was sitting at the kitchen counter with my nine year old daughter who was watching a video on her school Chromebook and I heard a familiar voice. It was you and other members of the US Army Field Band talking about the instruments that each of you play. The video was provided by the school to help kids choose their instrument for the upcoming school year and I remember telling my daughter "hey, I know that guy!" Small world. Thank you for your service and I look forward to more HSS content in the future. BTW sorry....she chose trumpet.

Congratulations Brian and thank you for your service! I remember our conversation when you told me you were leaving bike racing. I was driving down to Williamsburg, Va for a running coaching clinic. "Bill, I feel as though I've slayed the dragon....I have nothing left to prove" And with that, your time with bike racing and last year with PTS Racing - Integrated Sports Medicine were over. We so enjoyed having you on the team! I found He Spoke Style by chance and there you were. I've been a fan, albeit a casual fan, ever since. That process appears to come natural to you which may make it tough to put into words, but I think many people would benefit if you elaborate on that in a future video. First, thank you for those kind words. It's interesting you say that because I think it's just that I get to a point where I feel like I've maxed the opportunity out and squeezed all the juice that I care to squeeze. Of course with the Army being a career and all--not just a hobby on the side--the calculations were a little different and I certainly would not have been entertaining the idea if I did not have HSS to jump to. In that respect, I'm very lucky. I know a lot of people thinking about making the jump who have no idea what they want to do.

I got into watches because of He Spoke Style. Back in 2017 I was trying to dress better for my mortgage job. I was only intersted in dressing the part and not really much of a watch guy, you slowly started to publish more watch focused content that intrigued me and I got the bug. Fast forward a few years and I quite that job to pursue my new found passion for watches. I now have my own watch boutique (Greenwich Time in Newport Beach) and I’m an authorized retailer for my favorite brand. Thank you for all you have done for me personally. I think you legitimately changed my life. I’m glad you can put your entire effort on HSS.

The infantry wouldn't allow my body and mind to serve 20 years, so I finished my contract and am now a Mechanical Engineer. Sometimes I wish my 17 year-old self wasn't so macho at the times and signed up for a cozy S-Shop job and retired by the time I'm 38 (8 years from now); but I look back on motorpool mondays, LT's "fun runs," getting hazed/smoked, getting mortared in Afghanistan, having my girlfriend cheat on me while I was deployed, leaving service with non-transferrable skills, etc. with a heartfelt smile and many regrets.

Hats off. This is a great channel and has really helped my own personal style. Your videos around 1-2 years ago e.g. how to style chinos, denim shirts, blazers etc. were fantastic. My personal favourite is, however, the ‘ultimate beginner’s wardrobe capsule’. I have to admit though that I am watching your channel a bit less recently - not a function of the frequency of the posts but more so that I have sensed a shift in the style of the content. There has been a pivot towards more sponsored material which I can understand. However, in my humble opinion the neutral style advice has tapered off as a consequence. I hope you have time to continue to drop in videos that were characteristic of a couple of years ago that resulted in avid followers such as myself. Keep up the good work!

Had a feeling this would be about the army. What I take away from this video is how successful one can be even if they want to do many things in life. I'm going into band directing, but I already know I don't want to do it for life. I want to try a lot of different things. Urban design, agribusiness, mom & pop retail, municipal leadership. You made me feel better about wanting to do so much and making it happen. No career has to be a life sentence.

A very wise longtime member of the Field Band always used to say, in reference to retirement, that “you’ll know when it’s time.” And now that time has come for you. It was the highest of honors to serve alongside of you for a number of years. Since 1964 there have only been a select few Soldiers who have served as Concert Narrators for the Band and Chorus; this distinct honor is something that you and I both share, and will always treasure. Thanks for truly making a difference in an organization that does so much for America’s Army, and Godspeed as you Turn The Page! “Here’s to us and those like us! Damned few left!”🫡🇺🇸🥃
