I’ll always say that what he did with the Jets was one of the finest coaching jobs in NFL history. Took over a team that was 1-15, with things just about as bad as they could possibly get, and had a winning season his first year, and within one game of the Super Bowl his second year. One of the best coaches ever in any sport

Everyone talks about how tough Parcells was, but you can also see a lot of quieter moments in which he used his sense of humor and passion for teaching to connect with guys. That conversation with Larry Allen was a master class in calmly setting a boundary with a respected veteran player. I’m sure he did the same thing with Lawrence Taylor a lot. He knew how to adapt his communication to different situations - he didn’t just yell and scream all the time.

1990 is the year I’ll always remember. The 49ers were an unstoppable machine that entire season, going 14-2 and cruising into the playoffs. Joe Montana had arguably his best season ever statistically and was the NFL MVP for the second consecutive season. After watching the Niners dispatch Washington 28-10 in the divisional round in a game that wasn’t even that close, I just thought this team was destined to three-peat. Then they ran into the only team that could stop them, Parcells’ Giants. They not only put a stop to the 49ers potential three-peat, but ended the Joe Montana Era in San Francisco.

Simms seemed to blossom (I watched all 1980's NFL Sunday games, LOVED Mike Singletary), but when Simms argued back, he sounded like a teenager, with a Seinfeld-like shrill in his voice, like intelligence and immaturity at once.

Men are simple creatures. We thrive off discipline, structure, order and honesty. We might not think we like it, but we do, and if you want to lead men, you better have all 4 ... Bill had them, and that's why his resume is what it is. Love him or hate him, you knew where you stood, and you knew he meant what he said.

On behalf of Steve Sabol (RIP 2012), you are welcome. It is why he (and his dad) are legends.

Absolutely love Bill Parcells. My only wish was that he came back to the Giants. Truly was one of the greatest coaches of all time. I grew up in that era of the Giants in the 80s. Feel so blessed and fortunate that we were so competitive for championships then. Wish he could pay a visit to our coach now Joe Judge.

He was a missed phone call away from coming back in '97 but they already verbally offered Fassel the job so the story goes

Oh my gosh that when he said "you would be nervous if you was facing Michigan but not today because your facing Philadelphia, if you were facing Michigan State you would be really nervous." Was a Savage shot
