Facenda and the Sabol's made pro football seem like mythology. I wouldn't love it without being a kid in the 80s watching all of the NFL Films footage on ESPN. It was history that was amazing to take in. It's too bad other sports didnt put their history on display like this.

The next year, the Packers missed the playoffs by only one game. Had Lombardi been coaching that year, they would have certainly made the playoff and even gotten to another Super Bowl -abd they would have done it it for "the old man" ... every Packer would have given everything to see that happen one more time.

A truly iconic individual that helped the NFL become what it is today. His players not only achieved excellence in football, but also became successful in their retired life as they became multi-million dollar business men. His story is the fabric of history and dreams. Truly a miracle! We will never see such an incredible individual again.

When they run that Packer Sweep at 2:33 how can you not love that? There is nothing tricky or even clever about what the Packers did. They just did it so good you couldn't stop it. For me as a German, that is what I think it means to be successful. When you can channel everything you are as a person into doing something right without breaking... that's good.

John Facenda was gifted with vocal chords from God!! Perfectly suited to narrate a tribute to the greatest coach to ever inhabit this earth. Every syllable he utters touches the very heart and soul of the listener. Just as Facenda was the symbol of vocal artistry in his craft, Vincent Thomas Lombardi transcended the sport of Professional Football. View every tribute to this legend and they all trumpet the same basic tenet. THERE NEVER WAS, NOR WILL THERE EVER BE ANOTHER VINCE LOMBARDI. The greatest symbol of dedication to excel that ever lived. In any field of endeavor. His mere presence physically and spiritually was enough to inspire others to achieve beyond their wildest dreams. Five NFL Championships in his last seven seasons. Including victory in the first two Super Bowls. The trophy every team aspires to win bears his name. While the only trophy that will bear Bill Belichicks moniker is the "James Bond Award" for the NFL's greatest spy network. Facendas golden description of how Lombardi stood for everything that was good and solid in America rings truer now than ever before. Here in a nation that has plumbed the depths of despair with Joe Biden as our leader!! Since the Revolutionary War, no American leader could stand toe to toe with the qualities Lombardi embodied. Lombardi played with an integrated roster in an era when blacks were nearly ostracized from the game. Lombardi coached two players that were openly gay and threatened to fire anyone who said a word against them. WHAT A SUPERB BLEND OF MANLY QUALITIES HE WAS. Completely intolerant of lack of dedication. Totally open to everyone that placed the team above themselves. That is why Vince Lombardi stands above all others. As a coach. And more importantly as a man.

Vince is a John Wooden-like motivator and mentor of the game. However, in the modern NFL today, when it comes to tactics, wit, deception, and execution, Bill has proven time and time again that he can outsmart this league, and for having done it so long for so well, I have to call him the GOAT.

Vincent Lombardi # 1 NFL Coach of all time, end of discussion. He was so great that he could coach the worst team in the NFL today and make them Super Bowl Champions within three years. I love and adore that man and what he was able to accomplish.
@dallasbrubaker6054
@dallasbrubaker6054 4 года назад
@@SuperPrince1007 I doubt his methods would work today. The game is different today and not just from an X's and O's standpoint. Rule changes, salary cap, parity, more teams, etc. He would probably have to do an entire different style. But maybe he could have done that and have been just as successful or maybe he could have done that and have been even more successful. Or maybe he couldn't have done that and been just as successful or maybe he couldn't have done that and have been even more successful. Or he may have been unsuccessful at adapting at fired after 3 seasons. Who knows?
