I decided it's time to sell off a guitar I've owned and loved for a long time. Not because I don't like it anymore though... I like it a lot! I walk you through my process for making the decision in this video!
I have way too many guitars and have been trying to get rid of some but it's definitely hard. I need to for sure become a bit more minimalist. This helps a little.
Glad it's helpful. Doesn't have to happen overnight thats for sure. You could always just take what you don't use and tuck it away for a bit to see if you miss it at all. That's what I do when I'm debating selling something.
Completely get where this is coming from. Currently selling the final 2 electrics that are holding me over my magic number of 5 (1 in UK, 4 in Bucharest). I want the guitars to go to people who value them more than I do. I want all my guitars to be crying out for my attention. Also selling 3 basses out of 7. All great instruments but surplus to my needs.
I still have the ‘62ri we traded for. I did put Kinman Mayer style pickups in it and jumbo frets. Ordered my Silver Sky the day after I borrowed yours.
Good on you. I've been going through a rough time re minimalism. I've got way more than I need (which for my hobbyist purposes is like one or two of Im honest) so it's good to see someone who actually uses these tools professionally say "nah I will MAKE myself sell this one". I'm not even sure which of my eleven I would sell =/
No rule says you have to. If you use them all and they bring you joy there's nothing wrong with that at all. I just go with what works for my circumstance and understand that that will likely change over time and just try to make sure that its music first and gear second. The best thing to come of this one year no gear is the time I've gained back that I would have spent researching gear that I have been able to use for things like playing music and working on these videos.
