I have lived in California my entire life, 53 years and I have watched it change over the decades. California is a beautiful state as long as you stay out of the cities, beautiful mountains, oceans, deserts, etc. The problem as I see it is the politicians and progressivism has ruined a once great state. I recently retired and moved to Idaho and I don’t think many Californians realize how bad the state has become until you move away to a well ran state without all the craziness. I’m now living on 20 acres in a nice house and am loving it. I understand some people like the way California is ran, they vote in those politicians and that’s fine, they should stay there.....

I live in the bay area and I can assure that these people are some of the biggest hypocrites (also have a total lack of understanding of economics). @Michael S -- that's what I foresee happening -- people who have left for TX will look back and realize that they don't have access to the same lifestyle, culture, weather, and everything else that CA has to offer.

The grass is alot greener for the people leaving.. Its only a good place to live if you can afford to live there.. The more it takes to live there, the more people cannot afford it and move to get an improved lifestyle.. As some other poster said, eventual Californians will either be very well off or dirt poor with no one in between.

The idea of vacationing in California never crossed my mind. Only time I'm there is to catch midnight flight to Tahiti or Rarotonga.

That's ridiculous $5000 to rent a U-Haul, If you don't want to ditch all your possessions I would just buy a smaller box truck or even a running 10-15 year old retired school bus on gov deals for $3000-4000 and sell it at the other end when the move is done. Not a option for everyone especially if one is not mechanically inclined but I could never bring myself to pay $5000 to rent a U-Haul. Another option would be if you own a full-size pickup just buy a good used 15-30 foot enclosed trailer and then sell the trailer most likely for close to what was paid for it when the move is done.

My sister moved back to the midwest from vegas.. After you calculated the cost of moving.. It would have costed her more to move thanto just leave her stuff there and buy new.. SO she got New Furniture and made the move a breeze.

Agreed I’ve been in CA for 12 years Originally from upstate NY everything’s harder in CA I just found my first good job which is incredible due to the time that we’re in. I think about moving back to my little upstate hometown all the time. No traffic no lines at restaurants. I know everyone and all of my family is there. Sometimes nice weather is not worth it. CA has not been good to me. Maybe it’s time 2021

Just know that if you come to the valley, like so many are, this is NOT S.F. Be cool and kind and we're nice people, but just because we're close geographically speaking doesn't mean we're the same. @@dmurphy7951 No, I moved to Colorado Springs 6 years ago. Taxes are lower, no smog for vehicles, no RTD tax, and both the police chief and county sheriff declared the city and county to be a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary.
