I'm visiting every town in NC - Tabor City, North Carolina 

So Betty & Buddy’s opens at 11:00 am and Mama’s is open 6:00 am to 1:00pm but was closed when I visited. I think I called it Mamies, then Momma’s, but it is Mama’s

Im a life long resident of Tabor City. This was once a bustling little town growing up. The town is trying hard to make a comeback, but I must say that we still have a long row to hoe as they say lol. This city is located on a major highway that regardless of the season is always busy with all sorts of traffic to and from Myrtle Beach for vacation and fun. I cant understand for the life of me why our city has not decided to build up more business operations along that border, i mean seriously the traffic flow is non stop and all that money is passing our little town right on buy and its stopping right before us in towns like Chadbourn and right after us like Loris Sc. For example look at Whiteville Nc our sister town and how they are building up and out and bringing in the new, and look over at Chadbourn following suit. Even Loris Sc our sister town to the south just across the state line in SC, they are building and expanding and bringing in the new. The only new thing we got in Tabor City are these huge 2 story size street decorations for Christmas holiday, which is money spent on things that is not helping the city grow whatsoever. People take there money and will drive and hour or better for food, social, and entertainment and have to drive right pass our little town each time to get there, including our own citizens because there is nothing here and it dosent look like no one is making any real efforts on making any changes. Dont get me wrong as you see in the video there are a few attempts in process of opening new oppurtunities in the city, but lets keep it real and let me remind you that most of these projects has been in works for 5 years or better, all with no real deadlines or finished products in the near future. so you tell me the real progress you see now? Progress and change does take time and I get that but lets be real for the past 20 years or better about a good 90% of the working class are employeed in either parts of N. Myrtle to Myrtle Beach, Whiteville because Taboe City has done nothing to promote the city since after the decline of farming and tabacco in the late 70s. I think its time that little towns like ours should look into ushering in jobs like call centers ect , or something that can pull us back into the main stream so that our city wont get lost in time. Trying to hold on to the past farming empire's is just that THE PAST and it is gone forever because the big farming corps has been taken over that, so its time to give the label of small farming town up and evolve with the current times if we think there is any chance of our Tabor City surviving the next turn of the century. So this town was known for it's tobacco production OR tobacco transportation?

Man, there's alot of potential in that town! Especially being close to Myrtle. They could capitalize on that!

Hey Timothy French! How are you doing? You can tell that Tabor City, NC, is an up and coming place primarily due to the growth happening in other jurisdictions in close proximity to the town. The town is known as the “Yam Capital of the World” and hosts the annual North Carolina Yam Festival. It was not until the mid-1930s that Tabor City became known as the “Yam Capitol of the World”. The first annual festival was held in 1948 to pay tribute to the sweet potato. Today, this festival, known as the “North Carolina Yam Festival”, is always held on the fourth Saturday in the month of October and draws a large crowd of sweet potato loving people. Yes if they definitely had people buying the closed down buildings, this town would definitely be booming a lot more! Also, I’m a true crime fanatic on a show called Forensic Files and there was a wrongful conviction case about this woman who was wrongfully accused of her baby son dying in a fire caused by a diaper warmer it was very sad - took place in 1996 I believe. She has since passed but the woman’s name was Terri Hinson. The case happened in Tabor City too

The population of Tabor City actually increased by more than 50 percent from 2010 to 2020 according to Wikipedia that's ideally situated and close to Myrtle Beach and not that far from Wilmington.

The town yes l see that is very comfort , it looks like as if was very happy a town . I.loved here's sweet and cute . Small shops and grocers x the grocer kind aswell markets have been existing . ❤❤❤❤greetings where from turkey my country
