Nicely done. There seems to be some hope for that small town. I hope it can make a comeback one day. I seem to remember a small town not far from Wadsboro by the name of Polkton. Thanks for bringing us along.

Polkton is one town over. I plan on visiting it soon. Wadesboro has a lot great buildings and I think they could have an awesome arts district along Rutherford St where the theater is located.

Like so many other Southern towns, everyone who could moved away when all the textile mills closed down. Basically all you have left is the older retired generation who ran the mills, and the younger generation who are too poor to leave.

Saw your video today and just wanted to say The Award-Winning Ansonia Theatre is very much up and running…as a matter of fact our next production, directed by MTA’s Outstanding Director of the year, Tommy Wooten, is coming up August 5-14…GHOST: The Musical!! Why don’t You grab a few of your friends and come on out and enjoy the talent that Wadesboro and a few of these other small towns that you have filmed have to offer…I promise you won’t be disappointed…looking forward to seeing you there!!!

Yikes. It's a ghost town

A lot of town centers look that way and I’m hoping my videos bring shoppers back. Town centers are like the front door of a house. And first impressions are everything. Like you said, “it looks like a ghost town”. But they are working on it. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching 👍

Used to live in Wadesboro. The empty lot with the “stage” was the location of the last “Whites Only” businesses which mysteriously burned to the ground in the late ‘60s.

Thanks for the local history. Every town has interesting stories to tell.

@@TimothyFrench I lived there for a year in 2007. Was shocked to see the de facto segregation that still existed in the town. Basically the “lower” street was where all the black residents shopped, and the Main Street where you walked was the white area. Hopefully things have changed since I left.

@@robdisner They have not. If anything this has just gotten more extreme. The racism in this town is unreal. For better or for worse, Wadesboro seems to be somewhat stuck in the 1960's.
@robdisner
@robdisner 2 года назад
@@hunterjosey8027 Well I’m sad to hear that for sure. I only taught there for a year, but I really enjoyed my time there. But I also could see there was a big class divide, where the older generation seemed to being doing fine, but the younger generation in town was really struggling. And there just didn’t seem to be any middle ground.

@@hunterjosey8027 🤔 My dad just told me my family was from here. My grandma lived here as a kid. But they left Wadesboro in the 1950’s I believe. I feel like something dramatic happened and they didn’t just relocate. They moved to Albemarle and my grandma eventually moved to Concord.

Anson county could be a very wonderful place in North Carolina if they would clean up the crime and bring a good job market to the area it's sad to see how much crime has been allowed in this county says a lot about the police departments # BRING JOBS TO ANSON COUNTY

It's interesting how it's been a year since this video was posted and some of the things that have changed in town. Wadesboro, needs a lot of TLC and it may be too much for some to take on.
