Over the past few years I have been off and on with my ukulele. It was so difficult in the beginning and I thought I would never be able to master it. The more I keep doing it, the easier it becomes. I haven't played in about two years and I was able to pick up where I started and get this strumming pattern down. Keep practicing everyone, trust me!
i know this is 9 months too late but i do have a tip. I struggle with this as well, so what i do is when i play C i also have my 2nd finger 2nd fret first string, it makes no difference when playing c and makes it easier to jump from C to G
Wow! Thank you so much for all of your tutorials! You are AMAZING!!! I got a ukulele for Christmas and thanks to you, I have been able to learn Oh, Ms. Believer, March to the Sea, The Judge, Forest, Can't Help Falling in Love, Photograph and now this!! Thank you for using your talent to help others - I truly appreciate it
Thankyou so much. I’m a beginner and I really really struggle with strumming. The “fancy strumming “ you taught helped me a lot. I’ll try to get better. Thankyou again ❤️
elise: *”so the strumming patron is UDU-mute”* me: okay i think i got this.. wOw i got this- *~elise start playing it 100times smoother than i did~* o okay uh nvm
I love your tutorials they're so easy to comprehend and follow got my first uke for Christmas yesterday and already playing the second way to play this song love ya
YOUR VIDEOS HELP ME SO MUCH!!! I learned my first song on ukulele thanks to you, Sweater Weather, and now I am going to learn this! Thank you for these videos!
Your palm should rest on the strings so that when you swipe against them, they are not capable of producing a vibration, which is why they create noise in the first place. Just getting practicing to make sure your getting the motion of it, and sound of it( or lack thereof), right should help you improve
Because of depth perception you're not seeing that that mute stroke is actually just a mute. It looks like she's stroking because her hand goes down but her hand is not strumming the strings it's only going down to keep the rhythm. She's actually muting the strings that's where you get the mute sound from its the strings hitting the fret board and your hand hitting the instrument really
Hi Elise! My 9 year old daughter and I just picked up our very first Ukuleles a few days ago and we are so excited to learn this beautiful instrument!!! We've been watching your tutorial videos and I gotta say you are great teacher and have a beautiful voice!!! Thank you so much for sharing your skills and making learning easy for us beginners!!! I would very much love to request a tutorial for Bubbly by Colby Caillat from you...it's one of my favorites and think you would do it beautifully!!! Thank so much ❤️
I just bought a ukelele and this is the first song I have learnt thanks to you Elise! Thank you! It is such a simple tutorial to follow; it has made my day :)
Amazing....the UDU MUTE is the reggae beat, and it's perfect for this song. I have been trying to understand the reggae strum, and there it was explained in a way that's so straight forward and easy to understand
Elise Ecklund Lol omg I’m shook!!! I can’t BELIVE you actually replied to this!! Lol sorry I’m just such a big fan 😂! Anyway thanks and sorry that this is so long lol. You’re an amazing singer!
This is literally the only tutorial that's helped me actually manage to START singing the first god damn note on time. No one ever does tutorials right
For those who found the strumming pattern for this one a tad difficult, you can just DUDU and accenting the 2nd down strum. You also don't need the D7 chord. You just need C, Am, F, and G in that same pattern I gave you. I love Elise but I find that this way is much easier.
Love it! You are such a great teacher! I got my ukulele a little more than a week ago and I can play 4-5 songs already (and I’m 40 so it takes me a while to learn)
You are a good teacher. I started ukelele 1 week ago and i like your strumming patterns. Your voice is pretty. I dont get the mute so i just bang my palm against the fretboard instead of what you are doing cause I dont get it.
This is the second song I’m learning (the first one is you are my sunshine). I’m good on playing ddu udu. but now I feel I like udu mute more. It feels swift and I love it. I’m learning ukulele less than one month ...maybe three weeks. I found it’s hard to sing and play the same time. I also forget the lyrics all the time... sigh when can I just sing and play this song just as easy as like a piece of cake
Well you done done me and you bet I felt it I tried to be chill but you're so hot I melted I fell right through the cracks And now I'm trying to get back Before the cool done run out I'll be giving it my best-est And nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention I reckon it's again my turn, To win some or learn some But I won't hesitate no more, no more It cannot wait, I'm yours Well open up your mind and see like me Open up your plans and damn you're free Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love Listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing We are just one big family And it's our God-forsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved
Thank you so much! I heard it in the radio and got a deja vu from my childhood. So I ran home, grabbed my ukulele and searched up your name! Luckily you had this video! And now, 10 minutes later I can play the whole song 😄🎸
Elise! I just impulse bought a Uke because I loved your tutorials so much! Thank you so much for your helpful videos, you really inspire so many people!
I just got my ukulele this week and practicing songs with your video. Love your ukulele and omg... your voice! Now I’m looking for voice training video so that I can sing with my ukulele♡
I know I've been like 2 years late, but the pinkie is no problem *when you've been playing in the orchestra for 2 years.* Also, I'm learning this for music class so woOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Ella Blue I’m easiest way is when she has the letters in the screen and it says D that means down and U means up. Just do that. Ehhh sorry I’m not the best explainer. Just search for a RU-vid video I’m no help
Omg this really really helps, thank you Elise really like it and also I been doing ukulele in my school and we’re also praticing this so real thank you
hey elise my name is emily and i have just gotten my first ukulele for christmas and i would really like to learn the song bonfire heart by james blunt
Thank you very very much for this video. I learned so quick, your tutorial is easy and quick. My boyfriend was amazed that I learned within just a day. thank you !!!
Thanks for this! I haven't figured out how to do the mute yet... but until then I think I'll just practice til I get this song down with island strum and revisit that later! I like how close it sounds to the actual song
As a total beginner, this video was such a good first song. In fact, I didn't want to do the single strumming so I practiced the actual one real hard and in 3 days, I could do it! I love you, you're awesome! (:❤️
I've only had my ukalele for 2 days and thanks to u I can now play this song completely off by heart I could never play cos my hands are small I couldn't play cords well so I always fingerpicked on my guitar so thankyou so much for this ❤❤❤❤❤
