This period when Scott Hamilton was producing & starring in these ice shows with skaters like this really was the golden age of pro skating. There just hasn't been another Browning.
It's this kind of ice-skating that I miss when watching the new competitors going for multiple quads disregarding the finer art of "figure skating". Kurt Browning's footwork is excellent and he is not embarrassed by hamming it up a bit. Reminds me of my younger days skating in the Rockefeller Center Ice rink and trying to show off to the crowd.
The only skater who could do a program without any elements and you could still easily call him a mastermind there is pretty well no other skater in the world who can do that
Pure Joy! this is my feeling when watching Kurt Browing's 'skating'. He is a magnificent performer, he interprets the music in a "special way" I love Him! He's the number one, I have never seen nobody skating with such "control" and it seems effortless. Wow!
I'd never seen the attraction of ice skating until I tried it last month and now I'm hooked. This guy is amazing - so, so skilled and a real all-round talent. Brilliant skater, actor, comic, dancer, clown... I'm in awe.
He is so amazing. The way he moves across the ice, the complicated steps ...he makes it look SO easy. And in his prime he was an extraordinary jumper. Fabulous personality. Perfect triples too. Truly gifted in many ways.
that's the kurt i know. i just had surgery two days ago and watching him while at home recovering, helps alot. he made me laugh; THANK GOD FOR KURT BROWNING.
still the sexiest skater out there. Men in general need to realize and sweet, funny, charming guy wins out over the toughest every day... Kurt Browning is a modern Prince Charming lol
From the golden age of amateur singles figure skating to a long career as a pro, an incredibly gifted athlete and entertainer. He and Scott Hamilton have that total mastery that makes their performances look effortless.
rewatching torvill and dean then scotty then kurt. moir and virtue just do not compare. i have not watched any of the new male skaters yet, but i can not see any way that they can be better than these guys . such a treat to revisit these extraordinary talents. glad they are still available to watch.
I know it's a bit late, but welcome to the skating world. I picked up the sport two years ago as an adult and love it. I've always enjoyed watching/listening to Scott Hamilton. He's such an entertainer, and you can't help but not smile while watching him skate. :)
I have to say that I'm shocked that he's kept up his jumping ability to this extent. 2 triples and multiple double axels in his early forties? Wow. Not to mention his bizarre attention to edging, which, in the manner he does them, is a lost art. I am, however, interested in his serious lack of spins. Was that the trade off?
he always had ugly spins lol footwork was his thing really. even his jumps were just okay despite his quad. he seems to have morphed into scott Hamilton lol
During his amateur career his spins were good and quite creative. He had problems with lutz, but did another difficult jumps and combinations (triple axel-triple toe, triple axel-double loop, triple salchov-triple loop combinations)
