I definitely agree they are the perfect elite four! But before I build their team I wanna see a few of their theories. I really look forward to this new era of theorists!!!
Zoroark could fit for film theory because it’s the Pokémon that lines the most with matpat’s history as a theater kid. Plus Matpat is always adapting like Zoroark’s illusions.
Yeah, I think this is probably the best sub in if disallowing PokeStar Studios opponents. The other options fall too much into the pitfall of focusing in on specific film genres, but Zoroark is more of just sharing a thematic vibe with film theorizing and MatPat's background.
@Shalakor And Not To Mention The Obvious Fact Of Zoroark Getting Their Own Movie... So It Has More Of A Reason To Fit In. And It's Pre-evolution Was Shown To Be A Movie Star In One Of The Pokemon B/W Anime Episodes
Solid pick! I definitely agree Pokémon like inteleon, tyranitar, etc. are great to represent specific movies, but Really inteleon just fits one set of movies and not the whole concept of film itself.
@@muffledkerfuffle May be better fits on the eventual Film Theory themed Elite Four team when the new hosts have had time to develop a catalogue of their own videos. Hmm, Steph could have a GTLive themed team, but what kinda trainer/story role she'd have in this hypothetical game is harder to pin down. Gym Leader and such doesn't quite fit. Maybe the "professor" role?
Porygon-Z makes sense for game theory on paper, but its 3 main colours (red, blue and yellow) represent…every theory channel except the one it’s meant to represent.
@@muffledkerfuffle well, Inteleon kinda is that. The Galar starters all represent different forms of entertainment: Cinderace is Sports, Rillaboom is Music and Inteleon is Film. Sure it also draws inspired from a specific film compared to the more broad concepts of the other two, but in the context of this trio it still functions as the representative of film.
That’s definitely a fair point! But if I was going to make a Pokemon basketball team, I wouldn’t use a cinderace to represent basketball. Cinderace doesn’t represent all of sports, even if he belongs in the broad category of sports entertainment.
I definitely think inteleon is a fine choice though! I just felt the purpose of the pokestar studio Pokémon were meant to exist for the sole purpose of film. And end of the day, inteleon is a solid option!
I'm surprised that Alakazam wasn't used since it's supposed to ve really smart and MatPat came up with most of his insane theories which often times were spot on
Everyone forgets about Furfrou because it hasn’t even been in a game in over 6 years. Luckily it’s finally going to be in a game again next year with Legends Z-A.
Idk if it was said already, but Style Theory should’ve been furfrou, as its whole concept is different styles. Sure the styles are fur/hair, but I digress. Furfrou would’ve fit more (imo)
That would be a solid option! I wanted to make the team to represent the channels, but id also be open to making a team to represent matpat specifically! Maybe for a championship team
I would say pikachu for film do too the different costumes it could wear. The final pokemon could be one matpat made for Markiplier, or for an actual pokemon could be garidos as a reference to his first pokemon theory.
@@muffledkerfuffleIt's just a specific theory cause it was his first and the markiplier ones were his creations, but that is completely fair was just trying to think about how to have all actual pokemon. And this was a great video good job
As a fan of Pokémon and Mat Pat, this is well thought of throughout 👍. I would pick Lucario to represent film theory since it stars in a movie (Lucario and the Mystery of Mew but it was l used for he Brycen-Man series for Pokestar Studio) or Inteleon who is similar to James Bond.
Although, thinking of him as a Champion, Leavanny is the better choice to type diversity. Already has a couple Normal types. And it's not like MatPat himself did anywhere near as much experimenting with hair styling as with clothing styling over the course of the the videos he worked on in that area.
Honestly it would be awesome! Fan projects are always great, especially if the entire community gets involved. It would at least be amazing to see others make fanmade teams or their own fakemons.
Zoura and Zororark might have been good alternatives for the Film Theory spot.... It references an anime character that has one and dose film work (including being prevalent in the anime's Pokestar studio based episode), but it also debuted in a movie and you might be able to spin the Illusion ability to parallel how many Film Theories involve uncovering things the studios want to hide from you (dispelling Illusions, so to speak.... which I guess is kinda the opposite of what Zororark dose, but I like the 'mon).
For Gtlive I would have picked bellybolt because it is one of the Pokemon the electric gym leaders from scarlet and violet used and she is obviously based on being an streamer
For Film Theory, going out of people you can catch as a player, I would choose Iron Thorns and for the 6th pokemon, I would of personally went with Mew due to Mew's dna & also the playground rumor of Mew under the truck.
You can still have an actual Pokémon represent Film Theory. Others have mentioned Inteleon, but I think Iron Thorns is also a good choice. One of the PokéStar Studios mons is a robot Tyranitar, and Iron Thorns is based on that same concept.
I love Porygon Z! But I have an interest idea for film theory. I think Lucario would make the most sense. Lucario itself has a movie based around it AND, if we want to keep the PokéStar Studio reference, there is also Riolukid/Lucariokid.
Thank you!!! Regardless if he does see it, I definitely wanted to show my appreciation for game theory. I know Mat Pat and everyone on Team Theorists know how much the greater RU-vid community appreciates them.
I definitely want to! But I’m going to give the new theorists a chance to shine so I can make teams more personalized to them. I may also revisit MatPat’s team in the future and also give him a team more personalized to himself!
weird thing, but for style theory I would like to argue the cosplay pikachu from ORAS. It was used as a contest pokemon to show off its beauty in various different ways, with many unique outfits to go with it. oras were my favor games after XY (I really loved gen 5) and I think it would fit the best. The only issue is there’s already a detective pikachu on the team, and I don’t know how that would be replaced yet.
That’s definitely a great option! Detective pikachu can be replaced. I enjoyed it cus he is a detective so he’s perfect for theories, also cus matpat has done a lot of Deadpool theories
While I'm aware that Snorlax was a personal choice, we do have a Pokémon that's a gormond and fits the food tester idea a little more thematically: Lickilicky. Snorlax is less associated with cooking than it is the concept of a bear gorging before hibernation, while our resident cunning linguist is specifically designed to align better with what Food Theory stands for. That being said, yeah, I know it was a personal pick, but I like rambling.
Lickilicky is a great choice! I appreciate seeing all the awesome Pokemon people suggest in the comments! I might not see every comment, but it’s definitely great to hear everyone’s input!
This was a fun watch. I hope that MatPat sees this video at some point. I hope that one theme team idea that you'll consider is a theme team for the late Akira Toriyama as a tribute to him and his legacy. Each team member could reference as many contributions to anime, manga, and video games over his career as would be possible for a team of six.
I do want to do something for Akira Toriyama’s passing, but I am unsure of what that video will be at the moment. His show was one of the many shows that inspired me to want to make stories, and it’s a series that I have grown to love and share that appreciation with others who love it just as much as I do. I really wanna take some time to make something for Toriyama.
I probably would have chosen Alakazam for food theory because of it being smart representing the theory part and the spoons representing the eating and also the Logo.
You could have used Iron Thorns for the pokemon that represents film theory because many people think Iron Thorns looks like the Mecha-Tyranitar from Pokestar Studios.
Gotta Catch 'Em All! This was a creative and thoughtful homage to MatPat and the Theorists. I like the Pokémon you picked out to be representatives of the channels and theories in general. I was thinking of Espurr and its evolution Meowstic as a potential candidate, mainly because of the fact that Emma, Looker's assistant, had one since you went the Detective Pikachu route, though maybe one of her or Looker's other Pokémon might be a more fitting choice. Just food for thought. Awesome work!
6:25 I was thinking Furfrou because in the games you can actually change what Furfrou looks like by going to a hair salon (in sun & moon anyways) and dying the fur into different colours _changing furfrou's style_ . That wouldve been my first thought anyways, but leavanny is a far better pokemon for battle purposes.
unown for film theory (script) and furfrou for style theory as for 6th it is a toss up between Mew (theory ) or Alakazam (intel to solve or create theories ) the other 3 chosen I can agree with.
You know I honestly thought the last pokemon would be like Beheeyem cause I feel like the 1st thing that comes to a lot of peoples mind when hearing theory is like conspiracy theories and what better way to show that than an alien pokemon
for film theory, lucario or riolu would have been the best pick since riolu is the hero in the sidequest in B2W2 games. so in my opinion they are the best for MatPat
It’s definitely an interesting option! if I had to pick a genre of film for film theory, there are more general horror/sci-fi and super hero. So if the b2w2 films Lucario or the horror mons make sense.
Food theory either morpeko or lechonk Style theory oinkologne or mega gardevoir or furfrou Mega gardevoir works for film theory too because her trainer diantha is based on iconic actress Audrey hepburn For game theory matpat should get urshifu Also for gtlive give matpat oshawott because they always goofin off and oshawott was very goofy in the anime
the last pokemon should have been markepliers perfect pokemon because matpat made a whole series around markpliers pokemon smash or pass an ended up making a pokemon for him
It’s a fun option! I wanted more general mons to represent the larger theory channels or themes, but I’d definitely agree the Mon made for mark would be a great option
@@muffledkerfufflethanks I literally came up with it on the spot without even thinking about it for very long so I’m kinda surprised at myself for doing so.
@@muffledkerfuffle also a Pokémon for Style Theory (aside from furfrou cause I see that other people also suggested it) could be Oricorio cause sure its main thing is different dances but it also has different “Styles” associated with those dances for its different forms.
@@muffledkerfuffle and I think the detective Pikachu thing is a good reference, but for gameplay purposes I feel like they’d never actually do that for an in game Pokémon team so maybe make it Alolan Raichu, cause it’s the evolution and because it’s a different form and because they did a lot of theories related to the Alola season of the show, including how a lot of Pokémon in Alola would probably go extinct there.
I agree, Belibolt definitely could work! I just thought rotom already helped with live stream recording in the Pokemon universe. So it’s a really helpful Pokemon to have for any content creator.
When you said Pokéstar studios I was so sure you're gonna give Film Theory Iron Thorns to reference Mecha-T in Pokestar Studios that is obviously referencing Mecha Godzilla, arguably the second most popular form of Godzilla.
Nice video i would say porygon is his starter and i would personally give him a gmax Orbeetle because of that big brain or maybe a legendary and as for the other 4 hosts it would be cool if we can give each of them 1 of the 4 gimmicks from the games since it fits perfectly
Those are solid options. I always think of gumshoos as the meme lol. Blood moon Ursaluna works great as a ref to fnaf, tho I felt it was too specific to a specific theory than a general theme. Solid option though!!!
Would’ve been a cool option! I was making the team thinking more about each of the general channels and not specific theories. In the future if and when I make teams for The new Tom, Lee, Santi, and Amy, I am definitely going to redo matpat’s team and give him a more personalized team
There is technicly a pokemon that DOES represent film/movies. I present you: Lugia. Lugia was solely made to specificly appear in the movie Pokémon The Movie 2000, and was not originally planned to be in the Johto Pokédex. And for the fashion pokemon, I'm surprised you didn't pick Pikachu, as it has many outfits in its closet, or even Furfrou, who's a pokemon you could go to a parlor and change it's fur style and fur colours.
Well it is your choice, however I feel I would change the Film Theory-Based Pokémon and Detective Pikachu for two other Pokémon (Mostly since I feel "Humanoid" do not count as a real Pokémon and therefore not avalible as an option). But you are onto something. Here is my Pick for the 6 Pokémon: 1 Game-Theory: Porygon-Z (Still think you are having good points there) 2 Film-Theory: Mr. Rime (It is inspired by Charlie Chaplin and that is kind of inspired by an early Movie-Actor) 3 Food-Theory: Snorlax (I agree with you, But will also say Lickilicky COULD'VE been great too) 4 Style-Theory: Furfrou (I think the fact you can STYLE a Furfrou is quite clever, but Leavanny was a great pick too) 5 GTLive: Rotom (I agree that he would have a Rotom to help him out). 6 Last Pokémon: Slowking (If it is like the Slowking in the second Movie that can talk I think they would have cool converstaions)
I might use this team (replacing humanoid with Lucario. and maybe having the ability to evolve the Pikachu because I may be insane, but not *that* insane.) for a Pokémon Scarlet challenge run.
That’s okay!!! It’s still awesome to hear you’d wanna try out the team! I think the best part of the Pokemon community is when we can come together to enjoy and talk about Pokemon!
Ranking the Pokémon chosen Porygon for Game Theory: 10/10 it fits perfectly since one you get it at the game corner after playing the “games”, two it’s a digital Pokémon which most games are now played on, and three it evolves like an arg Humanoid/majin for film theory: 2/10, I get what you’re aiming for, but I think giving a non canon Pokémon is a bit off tbh. I would give him Mewtwo instead since it appeared in the most movies, is very intelligent like MatPat, and is even tied to the ditto theory, where it was said dittos were failed mew clones and Mewtwo was the only “successful” clone. Leavanny for fashion theory: 9/10 it is a very unique take and I don’t see people using it or suggesting such an underrated Pokémon. However I think there is one Pokémon that fits pretty good, mimikyu. Mimikyu fits the fashion aspect since it made its own pikachu costume to look less scary, it also implies that it repairs it’s costume after battle since it has the ability disguise. It also fits the theory aspect since no one knows how mimikyu looks under its disguise, with many saying that if you look at it you die, or mimikyu will kill you for doing so and leave room to theorize what it might look like. Still Leavanny is a solid choice Rotom for live: 10/10, can’t really think of a better Pokémon to choose for live than Rotom. As for the form, I see MatPat using the better competive version of Rotom (which was heat or wash I forget), but giving him base Rotom would be funny. Just imagine MatPat taking out his Rotom phone, saying I choose you, and Rotom comes out that’s funny. And finally Detective Pikachu: 6/10, I don’t think it fits MatPat too much. Here are some I think work Deyoxis the DNA Pokémon and can represent theory as a whole. Clefairy/Clefable was said to come from the moon and evolves from a moon stone so MatPat can study it’s origin. Ditto cause it can transform, breed with any Pokémon, and is a mysterious Pokémon on its own. However there’s one that is the best, Hitmochan, why MatPat said in a theory video that had a crush on Hitmochan, so do with what you will with the info and the choice 😐
I feel like the G Unown would be better than pikachu. A line of pokemon with scattered pasts and a main move literally called "Hidden Power" really hits the theory and mystery notes. If you wanted an actual pokemon for Film Theory, i guess Chatot? I dont know im stumped on this one aswell.
Unown can be a solid option. I just felt it was tied to much to Pokemon itself and not really the themes found throughout the theorist channels (maybe the ciphers used?) I think unown t would work better than g. G only references game theory and GT live. Unown t can reference all theorist channels and theories
I love Pokemon too! But that’s the fun part of theories I feel. We don’t all gotta agree with the theory but we can all have our different opinions which can lead to more discussions about the games and topics we love!
Yeah I didn’t want to represent individual franchises since the idea was to represent the larger channels and themes. I could possibly make a future team discussing specific theories or games/flilms etc. But that’s only if people want that
Yeah Tom, Lee, Santi, and Amy have been doing great! I am pretty sure MatPat is still around in the background, so I am looking forward to see what he does.
