The dress is gorgeous and we need more Layton original designs!! The series has such a strong visual style and colour palette that’s perfect for fashion design and I’m so glad people are beginning to recognise it!
That looks so good!! Those patterns were perfect! Such luck with using the leftover fabric too :D I love hats and especially mini ones. Now I want to make one like that too ^.^
Ahhhh I love how this came out! The puzzle pieces are such a great idea, they really give the cosplay that extra pop! 🥰 Couple of tips on the sewing (though feel free to ignore me, haha!), deffo press your fabric before you cut it, but also give your pattern pieces a gentle press with the iron on a low heat too! It makes it much easier to cut around them and the sizing will be more accurate 🥰 Also worth understitching your facing/lining as well as sewing it back as you did to help stop it poking out from under the main fabric! Love your cosplays, excited to see what you do next! 🥰❤
No way!! I struggle to find other Layton fans. I’ve been in love with the series since I was a kid. I was literally in love with Descole ahaha - I’ve played all the games and watched the movie. It’s a comfort series for me.
Okay, but I love this so much?! I'm a huge fan of Professor Layton's aesthetic and music (I'm horrible at the puzzles tho!) and this cosplay hit me really hard in the nostalgia! You look great! 😊
This cosplay is everything!! Huge respect for adding all those puzzle pieces… that seems exhausting! I think it definitely reads as Professor Layton, you look like such a lovely, “proper lady” as he might say! I’m looking forward to the top hat if you ever wind up making it. Great video 🫶
Fabric glue and fabric paint are my best friends when I make costumes. Gluing the puzzle pieces down would've saved you a lot of time and headaches. I use gorilla fabric glue. (Just don't do what I did and use it in a well-ventilated area. lol) As for the hat, if you have a stiff article of clothing that isn't the right color: Paint it! I do this for cosplay shoes and accessories all the time. 🥰 It still looks great though!
It turned out cute. I like the fascinator but I can see why you'd rather have the top hat. For the hat I would either paint it or use felt. You won't have to worry about rough edges with felt
Yeah but like where the edges come together still needs to be covered, otherwise there will be a big enough gap between the two pieces for you to see the glue.
@@AnyaPanda it should be noted I'm referring to the really stiff felt that can stand up on it's own, not the floppy kind. I've made a hat for a Mami (Madoka Magica) cosplay with no base in this way. I figure you could cover a base top hat in the same way. I hope this makes sense 😅
You can't even imagine how happy you made me with this upload. Always love when you fangirl about PL on your Instagram as well 😆 Cosplay looks so cute! ❤ I always wanted to do a Layton Cos as well and repurpose one of my old winter coats fot it :D
This is an awesome design for your Fem Professor Layton cosplay. Loved the "making of" video with the voice over as to why you performed certain steps (completely understand the lack of material either from running out or the cost & having to make it LOOK as though you've used more material). Another excellent video, Anya of a great Cosplay x
This cosplay looks so great!! As a novice sewist interested in cosplay, I really appreciate these walkthroughs to see what the process of putting together a cosplay is like.
My brain also doesn't save any footage when it comes to sewing sleeves 🤌 I also once covered a hat with fabric and I hope I don't have to do it again 🫠 But the cosplay turned out so good, I love the colours and all the details you made 💖✨️
