I love the sound of the final version. I haven’t personally been able to connect with paper thin rides but with your touch and those sticks it sounds phenomenal in the recording. Btw I was super interested in the discussion about sticks and how they affect cymbal sound. If you’re ever looking for topics for future videos, I bet a lot us would learn a lot from your thoughts on how stick variables elicit different sounds from the same cymbal. Thanks!
The modification helped a lot. It took out the hollow fundamental hum that was present. It seems that the mod took out some tension away, opened it up, and brighten the cymbal. Bravo, Tim! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love the depth and silences between the lower and higher frequencies. The mid tones are still there but more mysterious than mid tones usually are. I’m proud to say I got my first TR cymbal. I’ve been keeping my out for something here in Australia. It’s a 20 inch 1720 g labyrinth September 2021. So yeah, light. Yes, light sticks give so much more control and broaden the application within a given musical spectrum There is a brashness that sold me on this cymbal. I have a great sense of there being ong explorative hours ahead with this cymbal.
Hell yes bopworks, those sticks are in a league all of their own, I started using the art blakey models about 6 months ago and they're the best sticks I've ever used.
I like them for different reasons. The original would be so useful and versatile, I feel (as a non jazz guy). But the second version has so much character and is a lot of fun to listen to.
