thanks a lot! Came here for the title. However the most important thing for me was to see how you actually launch the script file. Seeing how easily you did it, it immediately made me look for it and I found the answer now also when not using visualstudio. Without you, I would have thought its wayyyyy more complicated to even get started before writing the first line of code Thanks a lot for your videos. Helps me out a lot rn
Thank you! This saved me ❤ I've never scripted (I use expressions a lot) before in AE and chatgpt helped me make a script to modify the Work Area endpoint based on the length of the topmost video file in another comp, and a StartTimeOffset slider. It also set up an expression to fade out the video elements automatically based on the newly calculated Work Area endpoint and a FadeOutDuration slider. Now there's near automatic render length in my template, just need to press a button to get the endpoint adjusted :)
So cool that you posted this. I did the same thing all day yesterday. You've got a ton of experience writing scripts, but I don't. So... I had to ask it a lot more before I got the results that I wanted!
This is incredible, but it still emphasizes that you need to know scripting works in the first place. You still need to know how to code to some degree to get the result you want from chatGPT
Damn! I just started learning how to script for AE. (Thanks for your videos. They are very helpful). Should I continue or is AI would make this unnecessary in the long run? ))
Personally, my attempt was to make an analog of Pathfinder from Adobe Illustrator. Of course, ChatGPT wouldn't understand what I want from it if I asked to write a script containing absolutely all Pathfinder functions, so I decided to make each function a separate script. By first asking ChatGPT to describe the "Divide" function in detail, and then write a script. After 25-30 attempts to write a script, it failed, and I did not get the expected result. The script always gave an error, ChatGPT updated its code, taking into account these errors, but it still didn't help. If someone suddenly reads this comment and manages to do something similar, let me know! Thanks for the video!
3:00 Wait, what happened here? How did you go from merely saving the script to opening AE and all of a sudden all the 100 squares are there? What did you do to run the script? What am I missing? Thanks everybody!
I struggle with chatgtp. When I want it to write an ae script, which shows the properties and attributes from a selected layer in the effects control panel it does not run it correctly. Can you help me out?
it is very cool i have a folder since 2015 with scripts that I have minor problem in the cod something did not work as I want and over 1 Night fixed most of them
Nice tutorial. I would like to make a script but, after did it, how can I have my jsxbin file. I mean, what is the procedure to have the script directly in Ae?
I've been trying to use ChatGTP to make working scripts but failing every time, even now i tried to use the same prompt as you in the video and the chat gives me a completely different code and it doesnt work. I have no knowlege in coding but im trying hard.
can you make a tutorial on how to make register serial number for your script because i've created a script and i want to make it for sale, thank you so much.
Thanks a lot, it’s awesome. May be the range color (0-255) give by chatgpt would works with 8bits composition? Your composition is in 32bpc with range 0 to 1
The bpc doesn't matter when applying to colour properties as far as I know. I haven't tested it thoroughly but they almost always require 0.0-1.0 values
Maybe it works better for After Effects. I tried to get it to write a Premiere Pro Script, but it seems like ChatGPT just invents stuff that doesn't exist. I asked it to write a script that extends a clip to the right, until its Out-Point is the same as the In-Point of the next clip and then joins the two. This was the result: var currentClip = app.project.activeSequence.getActiveClip(); var nextClip = currentClip.getNextClip(); currentClip.extendOutToInPoint(nextClip); app.project.activeSequence.joinClips(currentClip, nextClip); But none of these function actually exist. I really wonder where they come from.
Yes, I tried it with Premiere Pro, but I've also noticed it makes up functions. But this chat bot is actually very good, if you know what's wrong, just tell it and it will recognize the error and try to correct it.
