Hi, how can I install extendscript? Is it possible to still use it with a late premiere pro 2020 version? Thanks in advance! I have a Creative Cloud subscription, but there is no way to found extendscript :(
In AE, just a keyboard shortcut. For PR, I use a streamdeck which executes a series of keys to open the extension menu, arrow down to my desired extension, and load it

Hmm, I'm still learning automation, plz correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the most important difference is that Expressions are limited to change only thisLayer's related stuff. So you cannot add expression to controller's layer slider value that will change opacity of text layer. You must reverse this, and read opacity value from slider inside in expression bound to text layer. So expressions are quite limited in usage if you want to really automate things outside current layer (or child/parent tree?).
Scripts are all the same, they use ScriptUI for the dialog or pallette. Its because all Adobe apps have different methods of how ScriptUI is run. Its kinda weird. Each app has also different amount of items availalbe for ExtendScript. Dialogs react different, its kinda of a mess. Havent looked much at UXP yet. For what ive seen, the amount of typing you need to do is massivly different

For any type of professional design work, I would avoid scaling text horizontally and vertically at different percentages. Font size is always something that changes depending on if it is body copy or a header, or if you are making a postcard versus a large sign, as examples. Yet stretching text is not good. There may be a few applications where this can work, but those are few and far between.
I got a newer versions, v2.0.3, but it shows much less debugging info. I when i set it line to layer and ran the code. I only see "undefined is not an object". Not all the info your video showed

I tinker around with scripting but honestly have no idea what I’m doing. I can look over the code and some of it sort of makes sense but I can’t write it myself. But I’m curious … if you already have the main file saved somewhere, is it possible to make the artboards save in the same place as the original file? So in other words: no matter where the original file is located, the artboards will always save to wherever the original file is located?
Do you have a guide for the updated 2.0 script that Adobe released? Sems like the launch.json file is different. Also the way you select the target application seems to be different. I have tried to do a simple alert in Illustrator and I don't get anything when I run the debug.
Does anyone happen to know if it is possible to create a script for AE 22.1.1 (that does not benefit from the CharacterRange capability) that allows the modification of the fill of individual words and characters with specific colors? Does it support such a script? I am trying to create it using chatGPT but can only manage to fill entire rows, not specific characters/words. Any advice is very helpful. Thank you

This saved me ❤ I've never scripted (I use expressions a lot) before in AE and chatgpt helped me make a script to modify the Work Area endpoint based on the length of the topmost video file in another comp, and a StartTimeOffset slider. It also set up an expression to fade out the video elements automatically based on the newly calculated Work Area endpoint and a FadeOutDuration slider. Now there's near automatic render length in my template, just need to press a button to get the endpoint adjusted :)
