My names Clark and I am 23. I started www.kbblacktop.com and made well over 100k with only $1000 in my pocket! This is how I was able to get started in the Sealcoat Industry and stand out!
Awesome info brother! Looking to get into seal coating this season. Want to do it the right way & your video gave me loads of info. Probably will reach out with some questions 👊🏼
I dont like on the east coast, but its wild to me that some industries just arent working year round which makes sense. Glad im nowhere near snow, or frequent rain. Work in concrete was looking to get into the sealing game too.
Hell good video homie! Keep it up. Would love to see more videos on the tax side of this business like write offs ect. And also what to invest into first as you get more money.
Careful with talking about hiding cash income. IRS can audit your books 3 years later and you are confessing to hiding cash income on video which is very illegal.
I had to chime in when he said it becomes very hard to teach yourself to save money.. this is so true. I ran a few online stores and was doing SMMA as well. I started making decent money but at the time it was totally new.. yea I ran those stores and my SMMA company into the ground due to over spending and having too much fun when I technically didn't have that money. I'm restarting now with a new venture but point is.. he's SO right about spending more money and needing to realize that and stop yourself bc you WILL run your business into the ground
@@XPLAINMYNAME at first I started out mainly focusing on real estate agents and agencies doing online and social media marketing such as ads and what not. This was mainly when covid hit and the initial hit on the market took place and slowed a bit before the big ramp up. And also for small restaurants. That was all for the SMMA. All the advertising and what not I learned through courses and running my own stores and online platforms and growing them for about 3 years before moving to SMMA
First time seeing the channel nice vid. I’m about your age and in my second season this year. Our numbers are pretty similar which is crazy. Hopefully your 3rd year was even better man. One thing that was different is the insurance. I’m paying about $700 a month for 12 f*cking months bro. I’m gonna cancel the policy after this season. I’ve been getting absolutely bent i guess. Keep up the good work man
Great thoughts and ability to help newbies see the importance of all the aspects you touched on. Thanks bro! This will help with my other services I plan to offer as well!
When you were using the trash pump, were you using sealer with sand ? I wanted to get into this part time but don’t want to invest big money till i see it’s moving. I don’t care if I run through a pump or 2. So will it work with a trash pump?
Ive been using the trash pump, and already ready to upgrade to a diaphragm pump. What size pump can i get away with? Ive noticed the GPM on alot of them are only like 40 or 50. What do i need/ good starter diaphragm pump?
Where are you getting your sealer from? When you get a sprayer? Where are you buying it from her you going to Asphalt plants somebody needs to do a video on this because nobody’s doing a video on this.
I just watched this whole video before I realized we're friends on Facebook, lol. My IR business is slow to start and I want to add Sealcoating into it to help me through that transition.
When you started out, did you have to get a contractor license with the state? I’m considering starting a seal coating business, and just focusing on jobs under $500, simply to build some experience.
Where do you store everything? Do you have off size storage, your garage? I’m limited on space where I currently live and industrial space is very hard to come by. I don’t want to park my equipment on the road.
Did you clean the totes out at the end of each day? Or were you able to add product to the tote without having to clean it. Thanks very good info here.
Can you start out with a squeegy and buckets until you make the money for pump?, And from what ive heard Spraying Lasts Alot shorter than using a bucket and squigee from what ive researched people only spray parking lots
I spent 15 years as a Manager At Tmobile, Very Good With Sales. And Have owned my own Remodeling Business For like 10 Years .So I am not worried about that aspect, I Live In Nothern Maine Alot of people have seasonal Houses up here, And A very Small Town, I know I could Make Alot of Money. And what are the advantages from A pump are there from pouring out of a bucket? is it just time? i have alot to ask ill have to email ya lol but Ya spring is here in the north and I need some Extra Income 3 kids is Expensive Nowadays, I would definatly Love to grow The Business But need to get a foot hold in first,, Ive sealed My driveway and My Sisters, I do remodeling so its like Painting sort of Lol So i get the Gist of it
Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge. Your content is spot on. I just subscribed to your channel. I would to get in touch and collaborate with more on the business side of things to be more efficient and productive. Thanks again, I’ll be in touch.
Was toying Round with the idea of doing this part time for some extra cash and something to get my kids into when they're older. Was checking out asphaltkingdom but not 100% sold on the quality. The budget isn't the issue just wondering if you have any experience with them if so I'd love to hear some pros and cons.
I agree with everything you said ,where I have a bone to pick is you using Gypsy to describe the other guy or inferior work. It’s a race of people not a term you should use in a derogatory nonchalant way you are doing. Please educate yourself a little bit and stop using it. Best of luck to you.
He didn't say anything wrong when he said gypsies. Gypsies come thru Richmond, VA every sealcoating season and like clockwork there will be a news report where someone will get ripped off by some out of towner/gypsy that they paid too much (in some cases thousands) for sealcoating or paving that's shitt work and afterwards when the person has paid the gypsy (sorry dude don't be soft about it) they are nowhere to be found and won't return phone calls. It is what it is. This guy talks like a seasoned vet of sealcoating that's only been in the business for 2 years. I've personally been in it longer than that and I'm learning stuff from him that I should have been doing loooooooonnnnngggggg ago. Keep it up you and you company will go far.
@@804video5 basically proves my point. You have no proof that the person doing work is Roma/Gypsy. Just every year people roll through your town, and they must be that ethnicity, listen to what you’re saying it’s ridiculous. Dollars to donuts it’s another ethnicity, but the Roma people always get the blame up and down the East Coast. This has been going on for generations. . I’m not saying that gypsies haven’t committed some of these acts, I know they have but to get the blame on all of it is wrong when it could be done by travelers, Irish, Italian, Jewish, African, whatever you want to say.
Love that fake commercial. DIY is much better. Spray coating is basically watered down garbage paint that lucky to last 2 months. A true pro does not spray it on.
Hey when you use the term gypsy and start talking bad about them I’m a gypsy and I find that very discriminating to say you can use words like people do bad jobs stop bad mouthing Gypsies to make yourself look better because there are good gypsies and I myself am one and I own a very large paving company that does very well that’s a racist word
Thanks a lot man I’m trying to start a company not far away in Harrisburg pa if you could reply to this with your email it’d be much appreciated I do have a few questions for you.
