As an inhabitant of the northern hemisphere I was like “What freezing how?” Then I remembered your in one of the southern parts of the southern hemisphere. Stay warm.
@@tiberiumnp8030 28c around here is barely warm lol. It blew my mind a while back when I read news articles about how the UK was "preparing for a heatwave" for a few days of 26c highs.
@@TheHereticalPainter Bear in mind sir that there is no central heating down here so it is bloody cold. I lived in Ottawa for five years and spent winters in Georgian Bay, so I know what real cold is, but at least in Canada your prepared for it. Australia and New Zealand are ill prepared for the cold and I imagine the shed in New Zealand is pretty dang frosty.
The new format with more progress shown is great! I like how each video wrapped up a large section of the build in a nice way. The time commitment you've put into this project is astounding. EXCELLENT work!
Sir, no matter if this get finished one day or not, it NEEDS to be preserved in a wargaming museum of some sort because you put a level of work, dedication and detail of absurd proportion. It is a splendid work of art and I really wish you the best for those projects!
I am so impressed with your energy, your skill, and your determination. However, something that I'm amazed that you missed: Put. Foam. Insulation. On. Your. Walls! Looking at the shots that show your shop walls, I see cinder blocks, studs, and of course the garage door. With all the work you've done with foam, I'm stunned that you haven't taken a day or two to insulate your shop! It will make working out there MUCH more comfortable and efficient. I would hate for you to get sick because you're working under such chilly conditions.
Ohhh, might be a bit much, but I'd love to see the underlevel get it's own 4x4 board (maybe have it so you can put it under the top level for display then pull it out for use in game play or something), would be really cool to get more use out of those bridges down there and such. Also, man, does feel like another big tower would be a good addition (although that's just me getting greedy haha). Looking great so far regardless, looking forward to seeing whatever battle reports are done on it!
Dude, amazing instalment!! Definitely loving the progress, the buttresses and extra detailing across the bridges and board edges added a lot visually imo. Great work once again mate, can't wait for the next one!!
WoW this is truly amazing. You should get some floor tiles for the trenches, with even deeper trenches painted onto them, so that it looks like those trenches extend down to the lowest levels of terra, the view only blocked by increasingly dense clouds of smoke and dust.
Battle Ideas For This Table 1. Legions Imperialis. Imperial Fists and Inwit Phalangite vs Iron Warriors and Selucid Thorakite. Solar Auxilia battling in the streets and the Astartes fighting on the walls perhaps? Should go without saying, but obviously with Titan Support 2. 40K. Adeptus Custodes vs. Genestealer Cults. Perhaps The Cult of the Four-Armed Emperor is sick of the of the pretender on the Golden Throne. They have begun their uprising and have laid full siege to the Imperial Palace. Most of the Guardsmen have been converted to the cult or destroyed. All that is left to protect the walls is the Brotherhood of Demigods. 3. Legions Imperialis. Perhaps an even larger scale game of Imperialis, focusing on multiple Legions, perhaps Blood Angels and White Scars holding off Sons of Horus and Death Guard? I don't know what Loyal Titan Legions were there, but I know Legio Mortis was there. Titans should be a no-brainer. 4. Legions Imperialis. A more focused game, not really on the whole board, but maybe the city section. The Astartes are fighting on the walls, and down in the city section, street to street combat is going on between the Solar Auxilia. Just a pure Guardsmen game, artillery, melee combat and chaotic battle in the city streets. 5. 40K. Guilliman has returned to Terra to meet the Emperor and the Ultramarines must hold off a massive Daemon Army in time for Guilliman to meet with Big E. Maybe the last turn could feature a big bad reutrning to battlefield along side Guilliman. Maybe Magnus, or Mortarion, or even Be'Lakor. Then they can slug it out in the final turn. 6. Adeptus Titanicus. An all titan battle in the city, Legio Mortis needs to breach the walls and get inside the main palace, but a loyalist Titan Legion will obviously be standing in their way.
I'm ngl I'm not a Warhammer guy but this project is so god damn good and I've loved seeing it come together plus seeing this dopeass imperial palace posted on my birthday even more a win for me
Definitely not finished yet haha, but it's reach the first playable checkpoint!! Now we'll have a few games and then it's time for a lot more towers and GOLDDDD woooooooooooooo
@@Zorpazorp Dude, get them some googly eyes, maybe a little hat each, make them famous, pay an artist to make art of them, slap on a t-shirt, I will 1000% buy.
It looks great. One thing you should do inside of your videos is have a scale miniature of a person, so we can better tell how massive the structures are.
Those fly through shots look incredible and really captured the evocative feel of the board. I hope for batreps you're able to get some more low shots to really show of the scale.
Finally been craving this next instalment of the series. Fantastic work as always. First video has surely gotta be inspired on the Siege itself. Blood Angels, Fists, Scars against the Traitors. LUPERCAL !!
@@Zorpazorp I'm forwarding this series to a friend of mine. He's working on a 40k board that he wants to have 'hive city' vibes. He's already got a bunch of foam tiles to start building with, but I think your techniques will be incredibly helpful for our (probably not as ambitious LOL) first build.
Absolutely loving the Imperial Palace build. You’re a living legend. It looks more and more amazing with each video so I can’t wait to see what it looks like on the day you call time. I particularly like the tutorial moments where you go into detail on a hobby technique and I love seeing the lingering beauty shots at the end of each video.
Looking good Zorp! Honestly love heresy (and middle Earth) the most due to the lore. Even if your videos don’t reach the titanic views of Middle Earth SBG content during its prime time (rerelease) your effort really pays off in my eyes!
Massive respect for making this. Texturing the foam looks so time consuming, could you invent a kind of giant texture roller that you could run whole foam sheets through. Kind of like a "mangle" but with foil wrapped around one of the rollers!
Awesome video, I think putting some black sheet or something under the board will make the bridges look a lot better as will make it look a lot taller and you cant see the bottom below.
Seeing underneath the city with the gates from each trench so close makes me almost wish there was a walkway connecting them even if it would be completely hidden lol. Awesome as always, I look forward to all of your uploads and that hobby dopamine which motivates me to work on my own projects.
Man there was something so satisfying about seeing a long strip of foam on the sped up footage going through like in a log mill. Can imagine that was tedious work 😅 well worth it though
every time i see this project i'm constantly going; "hell yeah." "heeeelll yesssssss" me and my friends have made a few boards in our time but this is hobbying on such a new level \o/ always an awesome watch man!
It be cool to see a video built around making objective scatter and landmark terrain from the AT sets like a crashed ThunderHawk, a mechanicum repair camp, a fallen titan or barricade of destroyed tanks. Something smaller and more in-depth so people at home can follow along
I'd most like to see an epic-scale battle report on this badass board, but I'll watch any no matter what scale or era. The board is really starting to look cohesive, and by Kord this has to be the most epic battle board on RU-vid!
It’s funny you kind of get used to the scale having followed its construction over a number of videos, but it really struck me in this one - this thing is bloody enormous!
Yeah one of my mates came over yesterday who hasn't seen it in person for months and he was like you really get a sense of how big it is when you literally have to tilt your head up to see the top🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic job mate. I am loving seeing how this is coming together. Although you know that when it's done you may need to build a true scale Imperator Titan.lol
Next project, 30k epic scale spaceship. one of those grim dark, killometer long cathedral space ships that can be suspendid over the palace. I did some maths and to be the correct scale the ship would need to be a little over 4m long
I'm curious if you will be playing with the rules for ranges for weapons due to the massive scale of the buildings. Like, do weapons up on the ramparts of the palace get a range bonus shooting down at the city sector so that there can be some interaction between forces in different sections of the board? And do stationary heavy weapons in the city scape get a "setup bonus" if they are stationary to overcome that height when fired the other direction? Just an idea to play with.
I imagine there is a patreon tier that gets you a statue, but I think it would be cool to have some big old great hall, with some patrons heraldry on much smaller banners. Just an idea!
I feel like ive seen bigger in early 2000's white dwarf but couldnt find my collection to tell for sure. Couldve quite easily been a bunch of boards with some hills and green felt tbh so not reLly comparable 😆
For the floor, it needs a valley floor type look with rocks etc. Then build a acrylic top on it to walk on, ha ha!. That would be a ton of work though.
Oh mate that's just a crazy idea in general. Raising up the whole board on more trenches, but having a clear floor so you can still stand at the right height hahahahah WHT WOULD YOU TELL ME THIS!!!
Wow that is looking amazing. Everywhere you look there are new vistas and details to absorb your attention. So much work has gone into this that it would be a shame not to play both Epic and Heresy era 28mm, both.
