That reminds me of earlier in the 70s, when we welded rusty cars like this back together in Germany... but we had to go to the technical inspection with it... installing the rims the wrong way would have been an absolute absurdity... even though the colleague acted very brutally, but still he deserves a medal for welding with electrodes...all respect! 🥇🏆... we used acetylene and oxygen for welding, until the mig mag or the wire welders came up. he did a lot of work, disassembled everything... he could have worked a little nicer... but he's still a talent👌😎
You are very polite. I respect the time Mr.Hô engaged into this conversion/restoration BUT it is not a proper work. In the mad Europe, the German TÜV would NEVER APPROVE this car. To me the worst about this car is the suppresion of structure bars in the trunks.
@@alexandrhrouz666 Early in the 70's doesn't mean "today". Nowadays, it is not about the police but about the official check to allow your car on the roads.
I am just in awe of the skill this man has.. Eventho it’s not all flawless, he did convert and “rebuild” a whole car, just to be able to relocate his plant.. 😅 you have to be able to pull it all of in the end !! Awesome build❤❤
Welding sheet metal with a stick welder isn't easy. It looks great, however, I am concerned about the rear shock towers not being strong enough. How do you plan to get at the mounting nuts now that they are covered with fiberglass?
Good job Mr ho I weld and fabricate trailers myself and I much appreciate how you do your videos all the process at once as compared to seeing months worth of videos in real time it is better for me to see the entire process in a timelapse version
I appreciate the time to retrofit this vehicle and make the video. Yes there are things I would do differently, but well done, keep improving. Blessings from the Caribbean.
This is pretty amazing. And I say this as someone who worked around body shops selling PB&E for years. I've seen a few conversions of this type done, and the only thing I can say that I would do differently would be a little stronger material at the top of the rear shock/strut towers and a heavier box system to tie the two upper rear towers together (probably a u shaped box to go under the rear window, with a couple of pillars down to the floor "frame"). Without it, I see some flex issues on the body/chassis, but overall it's amazing. I see some rust I would have cut out replaced as well to make it structurally stronger, but overall, I get the "where do I stop" question on an old beater like this... Also, MAD PROPS for using the stick welder on your sheet metal!
If you had the hatch 4 door, or the tailgate from a Corolla FX, you could make a gate to extend the bed into the passenger compartment for larger items. My family had an 84 Corolla back when it was brand new. I had an 88 FX AE88.
As always, your work is nothing short of amazing. You put a great deal of hands on engineering into your work, and the level of ability & knowledge is simply priceless. I was hoping the rear doors would have been sealed up to look like a factory ute also, but if it was intended to identify a modified sedan, then i get it 😁well done bro, fantastic job. Here in Australia, unfortunately, it would never pass an engineers modification certificate. There is a big list of structural compliance and requirements that must be met before they even look at the project. But who cares, You're not in Australia 😂
this was an amazing build but someones gotta say it. you cut corners on the rust on that car and its gonna bite you in the rear. you left metal with surface rust and unfixed rust holes in the wheel wells. if you're rust mitigating phoshric acid works great but if you don't have access to it vineger, acidic toilet cleaner, or citric acid will also work.
I like the conversion a lot! Excellent planning, but I see that the turning is going to be an issue. Also the rear door handles and door gaps could have been filled at one point to where it would look like a factory offering.
@@franksanta-teresa971 also how does he adjust the rear shocks because it appears he fiberglassed over them, they should be covered but made a removable cover for repair
NO D.O.T (Department Of Transportation) regulations we love 3th World Countries.. Just paying for tags once..free rides for ever.. ahhhhhh.. Much love from USA United States of America ahhhhhh
I'd use the trunk lid and the piece of the roof to make a removable tonneau cover for the new bed. also since the bed seems to be water tight you might want to drill one or two small drain holes at the lowest end of it for rain and any spills.
Fantastic transformation and effort :) I just would have added some tie-down points in the back to secure loads safely. Also a drain hole somewhere with all the rain you get :)
Gorgeous! Really enjoyed the yellow color. Even though the black and white "dream" at the beginning showed the design, that yellow was a beautiful surprise when you started painting!
Awesome!! Love seeing stuff like this and your really the only one I've seen doing it. Maybe you should update along the way? Just do extra stuff to it and post videos. I know me and a lot of others would love to see it. But great jib man!! I'd drive it and use it all the time !!
great build....but... why leave on the rear door handles ? why not fill the shuts in ? the wheels are wrong on so many levels, turn them around. and the plant was still there ??
I like it alot man your work is amazing! If i might suggest weld that door full so there is no more door line, and remove handel and also make it smooth. That way it would look more like one panel. Its only my personal opinion, but like i said man great work!
not downing him in this video and (Imm not good at that stuff ) but the door handsfor the back and the back door outline i would of try to bondo all of it where it look more cooler like it was really made like that but thats cool little truck
Check out Merlin’s Old School Garage channel. He took a Volkswagen Jetta and made a ute. He used a kit. It’s pretty interesting. Here in the states, we don’t see that much. However, I would drive one. Cool looking trucks….
Nice idea 👍 Shame the rear towers didn't get reinforced, and then get completely covered with fibreglass! Lots of issues, with body, suspension, steering, even those rear lights are half done... Nice idea, just a bit rushed.
Don’t you recognize that all tool and equipment he have is : grinder , welder , antique hammer , and some very basis tool ? The point is he did an amazing job with what ever he has on hand which nothing .
love the work , love the ingenuity . But please anyone watching DO NOT copy this lug nut /spacer design for anything but slow off road use . Extremely dangerous and likely to fail at any moment . Anything over 20mph and this car will start to shake itself to pieces from those lug nut extensions .
Very cool but not sure why you did not weld the rear door and fill the handle. Also curious why you fiberglass over the rear shock tower. Overall a cool build.
My grandpa did basically the same thing to an old four-door sedan he had years ago when I was a kid. The main difference is he left the back doors where they opened. That way he could load stuff from the side without lifting it over if he had to.
Тачка металлолом, побыстрому решил продлить ей жизнь не на долго и просмотров срубить за одно, с их влажным климатом она за 5 лет в труху рассыпется после такого "ремонта".
I really like the way it came out, just be aware that running your wheels like that puts a lot more stress on your wheel bearings as well as some differences in handling.
@@nostreamavailable9090 or weld two rims together, have you seen the guy from russia building the cyper punk car, you should check that out its pretty cool.
I think he cut too many corners here compared with his previous video where he restored an engine from the bottom of the ocean. Things he can work on are.. 1) restore the engine bay 2) install a back up light 3) roll out the fenders to cover the wheels 4) cover up the rear door handles 5) lift the front of the car 6) clean the suspension parts.
Mr Ho, Needed An ... "El-Camino" .. Or.. An "El- CaminHO" ? (Lol.) To Move That Darn Tree! Ya Did An Excellent Job On This Project. I Would Definitely Drive The Bejeezez Out Of This.. Very Cool Concept ..Ty!
