as a lawncare worker, I can appreciate you grading that so a zero turn can safely mow around that pond. As someone who frequently mows around them, I wish that more people who do the grading around them would take the consideration that you did.
Chris, love the work you do. Any chance you could take us on a look back on ponds you've worked on (the then and now view)? We see these projects completed without water or landscaping and it would be neat to see what these places look like a year or two later.
Hey Chris you owe me a computer chair !! ,, I broke the arms off trying to keep you from drowning in the pond at 14:00 min mark, you took 20 years of my life off there hahaha But let me tell you, you have a right to be proud that is one hell of job you did there bet that guy is sorry he did not get you from the start.....Stay safe and God bless...
Yeah, flip one, the impact in that spot doesnt even have to kill you for it to be deadly.. if you get knocked unconscious and fall into the water, and nobody is around to try to help you, you're smoked.. and it happens.
Beautiful job, Chris! It's amazing what someone who knows what their doing can accomplish! When will people learn that you get what you pay for, or in your case much more than they pay for! I can't wait for the next project video!
Thanks for taking us along. Scared the crap out of me on the dozer...getting it stuck in the pond in that wet stuff looked like you were a gonner...nice work.
I use to fish a large pond, the overflow was in the center of the pond. At one time there was an iron bridge going over the pond on one end close to overflow. Before they put a grate over it, 2 guys in a Jon boat went down the overflow and came out at the bottom of the dam. I bet they had to change their shorts! We fished by the overflow and caught huge Crappies and lake was deeper than 30 feet.
On jobs like this it would be interesting to know how many hours you spend fixing other people’s messes vs if you would have done the job from the start
Well he dammed up a creek in a valley that was deeper than his excavator is tall in a older video so idk if he dug one out that deep but he definately made ponds that deep by building up dams in "valleys"
It's funny watching these older videos after watching you with the large articulating grading bucket you added. That large bucket really makes a huge difference in how you grade out ponds.
I think it would be really cool if you could do some before and after drone shots of the ponds and other projects with side by side shots or as close to possible as in same distance or area shot to show the drastic difference and all the good work you do keep up all the good work and videos and thank you for including us
I’m Glade you have plenty of opportunity to work ! And when you are young it’s easier to work eight days a week to get ahead , while the economy and weather is good .
I can definitely tell that you take Pride in your work and that you're the kind of guy that goes Over & Beyond what you're ask/paid to do just to make sure the Jobs to you're satisfaction & That's great, Great Job Man...
Looking good! I was wondering how deep it was going to be when you were done with it and was going to suggest digging a deeper part of the pond until you mentioned a water level of 7-8 foot, what did the final depth end up as?
Love your videos! Instead of only the finished project fly over at the end, it would be cool to see the before and after fly over at the end. Thanks for doing these videos! I enjoy them.
Hi Chris, I have been watching your channel for the last few years. I have come to the realization that there are so few people that can call themselves artists at what they can do. You doing your work is a very privileged thing to watch. I also like that you don't have to let your mouth do the talking for you. I can't imagine that anyone that's had you do work for them has ever not been totally satisfied with the outcome. You, Sir, are worth your weight in Gold. I could only dream of having you do work like that for me. So I'll just have to keep watching you do your fantastic work for others. I hope they appreciate you.
Nice work. Suggestion: hyperlapse some of the work because it's really satisfying to watch but it's so long at 1x speed. It can help with editing the video down to a palatable size. Thanks for the content either way!
@Shane Humphrey I'm Electrican in Al so we don't or won't do anything to crazy with our mini or backhoe.Folks that do..city, county ECT use counter weights
Turns out to be a nice pond for its intended purpose, If i were to want to have a Pond - i i can ever afford it , the dam id want would have a very shallow slope on the back side so its very sturdy and I can mow it, it should have at least 15 yards depth for at least 1/3 of its area , a concrete fabric lined spillway so no corrosion issues ever and rip rap for most of the bottom and all sides of the shore so I have no algee or mud when I go swimming and way clearer whater and bigger stones laid in like a giant staircase to walk in, also concrete pillars for a wooden bridge and pieces of concrete pipes for catfisch
Turned out Great Chris !! Call that one the "Boot Heel" Pond ....lolol... It's shaped like a boot heel....lolol.... Awesome work as always Man ! On to the Next ... Have a Great Evening !!
My dad and I take care of this one house and the guy was having a massive patio/outdoor kitchen put in around his pool and he got a quote from a good friend of ours, best guy around. And he was unhappy with it so he found some guys from the next town over (mexicans) who said they would do it for about half. Well they got it done and I couldn't believe how good it looks. Now just have to see how long it lasts... we know how that goes.
How deep do you try to have the deep water?? Up here in Mich any pond should have a spot at least 15' deep for water turn over. Up to 25' deep is better! Bud who used to move dirt!!
Chris just proved it's possible to polish a turd, lol. That's what he had to begin with, one giant and messy turd. It turned out great, nice and shiny. Actually looks like a pond now and not a crater. You did great Chris.
Great stuff. Just a recommendation, for some parts of your video you should speed up the footage . Not a whole lot but just enough so it looks productive
I bet the property owner wishes that he had hired you from the start. I thought we were going to get stuck on the slope when you slid down to the water. I was trying my best to turn the dozer to the right and go up the dam. Excellent job as always!
Not to get too personal, but.... how the hell do you get your pants zipped in the mornings with cahones that big? Chris, no, don’t go on that steep slope. No Chris’s, don’t do it! Is there anywhere you won’t drive that dozer?
what scares me is when Chris takes the excavator up and down steep slopes and onto the muck in some of those ponds. i swear he's gonna tip over and die.
It might be non-durable rock. It looks like powder when broken up but hardened when dry. Also it can be slick as snot in water. Has a fair specific gravity.
Great job 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 and a hell of a difference from the mess the first guy left behind - just shows it pays off to hire a professional in the first place.
I'd like to see followup, right now...not gonna lie, it looks like an industrial size puddle. smooth graded, but...bland, sterile. but...maybe with the dirt settled, and some cat tails and lili pads. But...I bet if you found some boulders, and added them around, as a "feature" that'd help too.
What we are missing is a camera shot from land to really show how that dozer is leaning. Of course that would slow things down for him. But do we care? 😉 Great finished product here.
Yeap..Cause Chris is the man for the job!!! Must an awesome bucket and thumb for your 220!! Keep up Chris!! NC dirt is tricky...especially with the red clay and grey clay...lol..nice vid Chris !!
CHRIS, I have a 3000 gallon pond in my backyard that was dug 25 years ago! Our ground is 2 feet of topsoil and then it’s sandy, do you think I could put clay in it and compact it to hold water! Right now it can rain and fill it up and within two days it’s almost dry, soaking into the ground! I would like to hear your input my brother! You’re the pond master and hey how thick should I put the clay if that would work? Thanks my friend!
I wonder just how good ol besty will do w new bkt??? Seems like 3' was not rippin so easy. Let alone 4' . I'm sure u got it all figured out though!!!! Dang that dirt was hard to have so much topsoil
OMG... Chris , you had me leaning to the right the whole time you were on the dozer making the slope better....Thanks for the rush so early in the morning, it went well with my coffee...
