Such a great movie. After watching this I completely understood why Angela Bassett is up for supporting actress at the Oscars. Her performances gave me chills all over. Even the moments when she's not speaking, her inner monologue is so powerful. I hope she wins. I found myself grieving for Chadwick at the start of the movie by the end of it I had processed my grief and was ready to move on. This film was everything I never thought it could be. B4 i saw the film, I was adamant i wanted a recast. After watching the film, I'm glad they never re-cast it. It helped me move on in more ways than one.
@@DRAMATICLEGS Will definitely do that thanks. Even though I understand why he didn't recast and I 100% agree it was the right decision, it would be interesting to hear his thoughts on it
"Vengeance has consumed you. It's consuming them...I am done letting it consume me." - T'Challa, the Black Panther Shuri needed to learn that lesson, T'Challa's first lesson as the Panther, before she could complete her taking of the mantle. Absolutely beautiful movie. 👏
Talokan is based on the Aztec mythological heaven called Tlalocan of Aztec mythology, and the Talokan people are called the Talokanils, not Atlanteans. Fun fact about Namor's wing sounds are rattlesnake or hummingbird sounds. The Talokanils and Namor are Mayan with Aztec or Incan cultures or influences. Namor's name in Spanish " El Nino Sin Amor" or " The child without love" takes the N and Amor, and that's how he got his name. The Talokanils salute was how the Aztecs salute each other. Remember, not Atlanteans, it is the Talokanils.
This is why I love your channel, you understand the heart of the film. There's a lot of people who feel this film is messy, and if we really distilled it down to basic filmic theory it is, but they neglect to understand that the story, and how tight it is, isn't the point, it's a very emotion driven film. This film is less about A to B story structure and more about an exploration of grief. Everything that happens is at the service of that base theme and it nails it.
Completely agree with this. Grief and mourning - and going on with life in spite of it - are at the heart of this film. It felt very true to my own experiences, and I empathized with Shuri. I loved the movie because of it.
exactly! people aren’t used to films that focuses and takes it time with story instead of jumping from point A to G within a matter of 30 minutes. this is the best MCU storytelling wise to date.
I found this movie to be cathartic. It starts off breaking your heart but by the end I felt like the grief I had over Chadwick’s passing going away. He was one of a kind
@@NewfieMovieReactions just curious. How do u find that honorable ? Imagine Brian from fast 7 dies off screen from a car crash and than had a whole funeral scene because Paul walker died from a car crash. Would u have said that’s honorable ? The best way to honor him is to continue what the person would have wanted, which Chadwick boseman own brother said that chad would’ve wanted a recast and also said “that character(tchalla) is a character that is bigger than 1 man”
Also Letitia Wright doesn't get enough credit. She never originally signed up for this, but due to unfortunate circumstance she had to become the emotional focal point of the film. Props to her for stepping up so spectacularly. She carried this fim so well
Such an incredible movie ! I must say though at the start when okoye stopped France stealing the vibranium it felt very like Captain America winter solider vibe to it, kinda wished for a little more of that in the terms of the fighting scenes, I absolutely LOVE the score of this one and also Okoye is best in the red robes hahahahha great movie
Como Mexicano siento que quedo espectacular la representación de la cultura Maya y Azteca en un pueblo tan Avanzado como Talookan reviviendo el lenguaje Maya es simplemente hermoso🌎🌊
I really enjoyed this film, and loved how they made Atlantean Mayans! I have no idea about the comics, but this was fun for me and the costumes were awesome
i loved this movie. i saw it again for the 4th time last week. i really liked that they explored the future of black panther through shuri’s eyes, and that shuri was angry and not accepting of her brother’s death or tradition of her country. i didn’t expect that at all or her understanding that her anger was really about her failure to save him. to save herself and her country she needed to accept all things she couldn’t understand. it was masterful.
Am I the only one who hated everything about her? Like, if Marvel has to pass on Ironman's legacy...her? Really? Not Peter Parker or Rhodey? Besides that I found her so annoying and shallow. Idk
This film is phenomenal, even though T'challa was taken from us. Shuri is a great successor as The Black Panther. Can't wait to see more Namor and Talokan! Líik’ik Talokan!! Líik’ik Talokan!! Líik’ik Talokan!!!
i love how we also get a quick subtle shot of queen ramonda with her grandkid. it’s when shes looking for nakia and the little boy who said “there she is” was her grandkid
Yeah, I totally forgot that, that's why I'm going back and rewatching the marvel movies for this channel soon as Movie Commentary/Reactions. I need to revisit them. I forget 90% of the details.
Yo, this my first time watching your reactions, man, it's a relief finding anyone that knows Marvel origin history, comic book history. Others in the last 10 years just hearing of black panther. Now they hearing about NAMOR. They have No idea of the real description of Sub Mariner aka Namor. It's great knowing someone that knows this. So what do you think about The Defenders Movie.
Loved watching your review! "Black Panther" gave me pride and empowerment.."Wakanda Forever" gave me hope and purpose to fight to live through a terrible illness I'm still suffering from. This time last year I was sending up prayers for the Lord to take me..but when I saw the teaser for the first time..11-11-2022 was the only thing I had left to look forward to last year. Regardless of criticism my experience at the theater was everything I needed..❤ from Louisiana
Wasn't attuma namors enemy 🤔🧐.....BTW I'm with Namor all the way, the surface world deserves a lesson, look at Val, the way she is and how the French broke into wakandan labs...
In The Comics ,Namor means "Avenging Son".In the Film, they made it short for "El Nino sin amor"("The boy without love") and also composited the Sub-Mariner with the Mayan deity Ah`au Ku`l'kul`kan to accomodate his actor Tenoch Huerta who is of mixed Mexican and indigenous heritage,as are the other Atlantean/Talokanil actors and actresses in The Film. It also fits with the first film`s themes of ancient cultures in the shadow of colonial white supremacist repression.
No amor is no love in Spanish....so there comes the name from. This movie is a beautyful made as tribute for chadwick boseman Nd was súper movie. Love your reactions♡
The Marvel guys took the sentence 'El niño sin amor' (the last N of siN + AMOR) to get the name's origin for the film. In English 'The kid withouT LOVE' would be Tlove=Namor
Overall, I loved the movie. Just like Black Panther (2018), it holds its own outside the MCU and the influence from ancient African and Aztec cultures is so fascinating and well done. Also, when Shuri was first introduced I honestly disliked her because she was just so arrogant, immature (I know she was just teen) and a little shallow. It is also what I thought about MCU's Spiderman but after this and NWH I love them both. However, I genuinely hate Ironheart. A bit is for the same reasons I didn't like Shuri at first, but besides the fact that she is so annoying, I hate that the writers tried to pass on Ironman's legacy to her. Not just the technology, but there were also so many scenes parallel to Ironman and I hate it as much as I hate that silly design of her suits. If someone MUST continue his legacy is either Spiderman or War Machine (that one is a little unlikely). Loved Namor too❤
Shuri sucks... all she had to do was speak up when Nakia got there to rescue her. "Hey wait don't shoot, I'm fine. We can figure this out." Instead she went mute and let war break out. She got so many people killed. Instead of one person, maybe.
I know marvel sets up the timeline way ahead so I wonder what this movie was supposed to be before his death. I still super enjoyed it and I guess they could’ve just recasted him but this meant a lot more!
Watching this in the theater, there wasn't a single sound during the opening scenes. Absolutely dead silent. With the opening and final scenes, I think Marvel did absolutely the best they could with handling Chadwick's death, honoring him, and continuing the character of the Black Panther. Yes she is going to be Iron Heart.
@@Berto2K movies don’t have to take place when the come out. Black Panther came out in 2018 but it took place after Civil War in 2016. I’m saying BP3 should’ve been after Infinity War Tchalla was dead for 5 years before Endgame. It would’ve been better than killing him AGAIN
@@tmac731 So you're saying he should not have been in End Game at all? It came out only 1 yr after Infinity war did which means they were nearly filmed back to back. I'm not talking about anything for taking place vs came out. The fact is he died well after End game and even What If were done being made. It would make no sense to have his death dealt with in this movie (if came from Infinity War) then to have him come back again for End Game which in the MCU timeline happens after it. If you are proposing the movie timelines be IW -> BP2 -> EG, it makes no sense at all because of when they were filmed. you can't undo movies that already came out.
@@Berto2K I know when he died and I’m not talking about changing Endgame. you’re not understanding it. Yes I’m saying Wakanda Forever should have taken place after Infinity War before Endgame. Marvel wanted to tell a story about T’Challa dying. Well Tchalla was dead for 5 years before endgame so I’m saying the movie should have been about that. We don’t have much stories about those 5 years so that would’ve been better than killing Tchalla off screen and killing hon for the 3rd time. They can honor Chadwick but have a post credit scene where he returns and then they can recast Tchalla later down the line instead of this kid Tchalla
I just happen to live in Chadwick’s hometown of Anderson, South Carolina. this man has done soo much for the local communities & kids down here. Wakanda Forever, My King 🤴🏿🙅🏼♂️🍻
T'challa isn't the first black panther he's just the one we knew. Remember his dad was black panther before him and there was more panther's before his dad too.
I agree, just watched it for the first time on Disney plus. Don’t get the hype tbh. It had its emotional moments but the movie at times felt dragged. Tbh I don’t feel connected with shuri the actor for sone reason. This movie was a female superhero movie, nothing against females being superhero but something about this movie didn’t hit the spot for me. Was average at best for me
Wrong,Shuri,M`Baku,Killmonger and T`Challa and Storm`s son Azari have all been Black Panther at some point in The Comics although it is usually very brief.
Stop hyping that actress. You’re one of those queers who bandwagons the “this movie was bad because they didn’t recast BP, it’s forced feminism, they changed namor into a Mexican so it’s gonna suck for those reasons “ opinion.
It's average movie. Shuri is a 2nd rate Black Panther isn't strong enough to carry a movie so no reason to make a 3rd one. Then there is their version of "Iron Man"
Such a missed opportunity for an MCU/DCU crossover. Imagine an Aquaman cameo where he watches the battle from a distance while kicking back and drinking some whiskey. 😉
This movie definately had its emotional moments but it’s not a top marvel movie . It just felt dragged majority of the movie . This is yet another very overrated movie . It was eh . Like I said it was emotional but overall , the movie was average at best . Also felt like a female superhero movie . Nothing against female superheroes but I didn’t enjoy it as much . That killmonger scene made me want more of him in this movie . The only actor I enjoyed was Angela bassett. The rest were eh. I just never felt connected with shuri. The actor . Something about this movie felt mehhh to me. It was a 6.5 out of 10 for me
@@PathOfDistrAction dude is a troll he’s been on a few reactions saying the same thing with nothing to back his claim. I mean I liked the mcu version even though I do wish he had more of Namor attitude.
Ok I did not go to the theatre to see this movie. And after watching it on Disney plus, I must say I was wrong about it. It did not suck as bad as I thought. IT SUCKED SO MUCH MORE THAN I COULD HAVE IMAGINED!!! This trash almost made that garbage movie the eternals look ok. That … that thing they called namor was so bad I almost throw up every time he came onto the screen. This movie was so bad it probably marked the very last 800 million dollar movie marvel will ever see. I guarantee it. This was long, boring and so far removed from the source material it was not even remotely recognizable as any of the characters they say they were trying to portray. It is trash, garbage, junk, crap and a complete waste of time and energy to sit through.
Yeah, I can see it must suck for you comic book fans. I had no prior knowledge of Namor so this film was awesome for me. Funny what a perspective can do for something
You said what country is this coming in and you know it's laughing at you you should already know it's the French because in the past in real life they would obviously do this And they're seeing the French commanders or special forces Detect a wakandan outreach center and it's ironic thatlly got body by the durmilange Showing how more skilled they are than the freakin guys of guns because they only need the point in the shoe that's not skill that's his Well with the spears yet the practice how to defend yourself and attack that's how elegant weapons should be not what bullets should do That's why I would actually have a spear as my left and not a gun
