This movie had me crying throughout, for Chadwick, for Queen Ramonda, & as a longtime Namor fan I got emotional finally seeing him, never thought we'd see him in live action without it seeming goofy & they pulled it off. He's the first mutant in Marvel comics & now in the MCU!

One other thing. Remember in Civil War, T’Chaka, the father was king, but no longer Black Panther. His son, T’Challa was Black Panther. So it is not always the case that the ruler of Wakanda is also the Black Panther.

As devastating it was losing Chadwick Boseman, I’m glad they still push through making this film without him. Wakanda Forever

Quick note on orcas: it’s not really that they kill for fun, it’s more like they play with their food. They are known to swat seals through the air back and forth to each other, but they always eat it.

Not many comic readers liked iron heart because of her depiction in the comics and the thought that she was replacing tony but I loved her and her recent solo series is so good really expanded the character and gave her a proper yet small fanbase

The thing that hit me the most was the fact that when the opening Marvel logo came up the background was purple instead of red. I think that's the only time it wasn't red and it made me cry even more

In the comics, Riri Williams builds an AI from Tony’s mind, basically creating a Tony Stark but in the 3D recordings Tony did with the Iron Man helmet in Endgame. Hopefully we get that in the show.

I’m also like 22 from Chicago so I really loved the way they depicted RiRi Williams in his movie we got to see how all Black people would be if we actually saw wakanda. Not to mention having another black female super genius is always appreciated

Some facts about the film: One particular thing that I like about this movie was that we got not one but TWO indigenous actresses from Guatemala. María Mercedes Coroy (Namor’s mom) and Doña María Telón (the elder Nakia spoke to) are both from Santa María de Jesús in the Sacatepéquez Deparment. My parents are from Quetzaltenango. The film’s score includes edited versions for some of the soundtracks’ songs, but they didn’t add the film’s version of Alone by Burna Boy which includes an excerpt of Stormzy’s Interlude at the start of the song. In the soundtrack, both songs are separate. Senegalese musician Baaba Maal who provided vocals for some of the background music in Black Panther 1 and 2 got to make a cameo singing at T’Challa’s funeral. Tenoch Huerta got to reprise his role for the Latin Spanish dub.

I had to break my pandemic "fast" and I saw this in theater and had a good cry. I saw it twice more after that (once with a friend). I needed it so much. I don't know how the other version of this movie would have landed by comparison now because it might have just been good, but not SOULFUL and deep and dark like this. So many people have lost someone since 2020 and I think this kind of movie was needed (along with Everything Everywhere All At Once).

They had suits in Talokan from the scientists they killed in their introduction. Letitia Wright proved previously she has comedic marvel acting chops, but here? she showed she can be a leading actress too because to hold her own against vets like Ms Angela, Danai and Lupita? that's TALENT

DID you know the song has a meaning with the movie I'm talking about Rhianna's song , when she says "burning in a hopeless dream" it refers to Shuri knowing she wouldn't see her mom or her brother in the dream so it was a hopeless dream where there she saw kilmongger

The start of this movie broke me. Then as the movie progressed I thought I would be okay, and then we saw Shuri’s memories of T’Challa and the movie broke me again, and I couldn’t stop crying through the credits. I’m glad I’m not the only one who cried.

I think the lighting underwater, along with being a good visual, is also based on how the deeper you go into the ocean there's actually some creatures (and plants I think) that actually give off some form of color lighting as well as being more transparent.

Fun fact, The idea of Namor creating the sun is a reference to how in the Mayan and Aztec mythology. Both cultures have a feather serpent God and both of them are said to be sun gods or associated with the sun. So I personally enjoyed seeing the mesoamerican influences and representation in this film becuase I'm happy to see my Latin roots being show in film. And to finally have a marvel character that is of my Latin ethic💕💕💕💕💕

Monica, don't apologize. Namor's ankle wings have always been the most funny thing about him and get made fun of to this day. We all laugh at it, but we also want him to keep it. He wouldn't be Namor without them. Still funny, though!

I really connected to shuri in this moive and while I don't relate to her on an ethical way because I'm a latina and she's black. But I relate to her struggles in this moive on a personal level. I lost my grandmother during coived. (She didn't die because of Covid) my grandma had Dementia and she was already slipping away. But because of how bad Coivd was the first year. I couldn't go visit her as much as I wanted to. And when she died. I felt like sure im the beginning of the moive. I felt like I was helpless. There was nothing I could have done. Her process to finally come to terms with her brothers death. Is just like me. I doubted God and myself. But what I love about how at the end when she met her nephew. This was a beautiful Symbolism how how love (especially the love we have for those we've lost) is like an engery. It never truly leaves us. Its always there and can come back to us. In another form. In a way I felt like this moive was kind of like a way for me to help me finally come to terms with my grandmother's death. And be ready to move on. This is why I love this moive. One top of my Latin roots being represented in a Marvel moive💕

One of my favourite things about this movie is that it is a movie of badass women being awesome without the marvel clichés of “girl power” that make a lot of people actually hate female heroes in these kinds of movies. I think this movie was incredibly empowering for young girls who watch it!

To answer some of your questions; yes, Namor has wings in the comics. He's from the 1930's (and is actually Marvel's first character) when those design choices were goofy on purpose. No, Valentina and Ross never dated in the comics. She was always known as Fury's girl, except for a brief time where she was in a love triangle with him and Captain America (Steve, not Sam or Bucky). The Midnight Angels were an elite squad of Dora Milaje. The best of the very best. Ayo (Okoye's second in command) and Aneka (the new Dora from this movie) were the Midnight Angels. Aneka killed a rapist and was sentenced to death by a reluctant Ramonda for it. Ayo stole the two Midnight Angel armors and freed Aneka with it.

I loved Riri in this. I only read two Iron Heart comics but I thought she was hilarious, and I loved every time she was in one of her suits. A lot of her scenes also parallel of Tony Stark when he first built his suit. Also they have scuba suits from the divers they killed in the beginning of the movie 😬 And yes M’Baku is King of Wakanda and Shuri is the Black Panther/protector of Wakanda

Namor dates back to the 1950s AKA the SubMairiner He had his own comic books. And team he was with was called The Defenders. Look it up.

From what i could find, Midnight Angels are actually like special subgroup of the Dora Milaje that use high tech equipment (and seem a bit black ops from what i can find) , and they started using armors at some point (honestly movie armors look a bit cooler) I really liked what they did with Namor, and tru, wings are silly but this is this brand of comic book silly that i love (and also make for iconic look). Only thing they shy away with him is his comic book nickmane Sub-Mariner (which honestly, comic book don't refer to him as Sub-Mariner too much). Riri was cool, tho i can say its more of a cameo that says "this character exists and we will tell more about her in future projects". In general, this is very solid movie, i think Ryan Coogler is really great (in this movie and previous one) at showing the grandeur of characters, places and moments (i have some problems with MCU and one of them is that those movies often seem to be kinda afraid of having scenes that take themself seriously)
