Yea, fr fr. Back in the day RU-vid was this platform were video creators could get creative and upload their stuff. But now it kinda feels like a news channel were the main focus is straight up drama. Crazy.
It's always just a question about time before something gets too popular and changes as a result. More times than not for the worse. Just look at Instagram, I deleted that garbage 3 years ago because it went from being a nice place you could share little bits and pieces about your life to a commercialized news outlet and business fueled by gossip and sex. But, in the end we are products of our environment. It's in our hands to make RU-vid and these other platforms what it once was, but the sad truth is that the majority of people don't want that anymore.
@@MrNinjafreak Exactly. RU-vid has definitely made some improvements over the years, but there is too much outside involvement from big corporations and brands that now have more influence on the platform rather than the everyday users. I remember when everyone had a equal chance of getting views and subscribers but now it seems that you can only grow on RU-vid if RU-vid thinks you should.
he's wrong. I find content all the time reminiscent of old youtube styled content and I genuinely like it more than todays content. even going back and looking at very old videos from people i never even watched before is better than todays content. yeah part of it is how you felt but its mostly how it was back in the day rather than just how we felt back then. it isn't just nostalgia.
@@Crewsi3 He was a great You-Tuber I'm not sure about now but what I meant was Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye, and Markiplier use to be at trio and they were a really great trio.
It's strange to think about sometimes and you look at the children being annoying little shits and go 'man this generation is going to hell, I was never like that when I was younger' when in fact you probably were, obviously in some cases that's not true such as the amount of children i see vaping or just going up to people and being cunts like i was never like that, but the ones that are just a bit annoying and just being children will grow up and think the exact same things we did and the cycle will repeat, while i do think the newer generation is a tad bit more... 'eccentric', likely due to tiktok brainrot they will grow out of it and even be embarrassed about it like we get embarrassed thinking of how we used to be.
@@FlakeRabbit Yet, this is the one point in history you can say that, we're sorry for you new generations. In 2000-2010s, our videogames are fueled by passion, when corporates still haven't figured out the yearly-formula and buying out all the good franchises and marketing, and our influencers are fueled by the needs to entertain, not by sponsorship or trying to start drama. Social media existed purely to communicate (and maybe playing some Facebook pet game), but it wasn't made to grab every inch of our attention span and get us addicted. We have the internet, yet we weren't terminally online, and the stupidity of our younger selves haven't got immortally digitalized, and kids haven't figured out what the hell 'chasing clout' even mean. And now, these new kids will grow up trying to compete with all these new AIs, and surviving in a world that gets more and more expensive, and less and less hospitable. And then those covid kids who couldn't even socialize for few years during one their most crucial development time. It'll never get that simple and comfortable again. We were at the times that we really felt connected, and our world was smaller for all of us. It will never be like that again for our children. They will have to find their own way to cope, while the competition just keep getting tougher. I really feel bad for them, honestly.
@@FlakeRabbitnah but I didn’t have TikTok and unlimited internet access when I was 5. I did something called going outside and using my imagination which these modern 5 year olds are steering clear of. They probably can’t even watch a full 20 minute episode of a show.
@@Skikoplyou used to be able to personalize your entire channel page like a MySpace account, before 2012-2013 where you could only change the backdrop..
It’s nice to know that Felix, Mark, and Jack are all still genuinely good people Edit: Felix is still in my opinion a great person. He has donated to multiple charities and has been nothing but respectful during his controversies. Just because you say the n word DOES NOT MEAN YOU HATE BLACK PEOPLE! The n word literally only means an ignorant person.
Sometimes I wish it was 2016 all over again. Watching Jackscepticeye play Mirrors edge, Markiplier was playing fnaf clones, Fran Bow letsplays, Don't Starve together, Kubzscouts was playing yandere simulator. Those were the good days. Yeah there were bad eggs there always were, but there was more good than bad back then. Unlike today.
I noticed I think internet culture has changed in more ways than we think. People just don't connect with creators like they used to, because there's so many clones and everyone is so used to short form content:( not just that, it just feels more like a time killer rather than what helps people connect.
Not only a drama battlefield but a place filled with greedy people making creepy and brain numbing content, yeah there was brain numbing content back then but it isn't as bad as what we have right now since we weren't born during the pandemic back then
I was expecting a parody of I miss the old kanye, so I wrote it. I miss the old RU-vid, "where shall we go" RU-vid, straight from the soul RU-vid, so many goals for RU-vid. I hate the new RU-vid, the bad mood RU-vid, the always rude RU-vid, "drama is news" RU-vid. I miss the sweet RU-vid, the "No Defeat" RU-vid. I gotta to say, at that time I'd like to be on RU-vid.
No that was when youtubers started from making fun videos to thunkimg tbey are god because they won a boxing match against a tiktoker also and the decline of people reacting to home videos and rise of tiktok comps drama started having a profit
The fact that most of these clips are considered “old RU-vid” but I remember clips WAAAY before any of these people existed as RU-vidrs. I remember actual “old RU-vid” being so damn different, it makes me feel HELLA OLD lol
I loved the era of RU-vid where channels were still trying to figure out the best way to make videos, and how to get paid for it. There wasent any monetization programs back in the day. It was a complete Wild West and we made it up as we went along. I think a lot of the old charm of the internet wore off when Twitter and Facebook took over and made RU-vid a very corporate entity.
RU-vid didn't really pop off until I'd say like 2010. The only creators people really knew back then were Smosh. 2011 to I'd say like 2017 was the peak of RU-vid before they started fucking with people's content.
Yep that’s exactly what I’m saying all people care about today is making money on RU-vid these days and i just miss when people called videos just videos instead of calling them “content” it just sounds nerdy and dumb lol and also it’s just dumb how people always complain when their videos get “demonetized” when they do realize they can just not make money and curse all they want in their videos that’s what i do lol people are just greedy and only care about views and money watch people get mad at me because I’m just telling the truth 🤣
and I just miss when people just called people RU-vidrs instead of “content creators” well I still call people RU-vidrs but everyone else just calls them content creators now it just sounds all corporate and boring your right todays RU-vid is just boring
@@TravisTheMaximus yeah they sold the "fun" of it for some more cash and when I say this I don't mean the RU-vidrs, I mean RU-vid in general. They forced them into this shit show. It's getting worse by the day with all the "woke" garbage and how feelings are the most important thing in the universe 😂
@@EWOKakaDOOM yep and now look at it now mostly everyone on here who makes videos is just greedy where they treat making videos as a job instead of just doing it for fun lol like I see countless videos here on RU-vid of people quitting their "job" of making youtube videos because youtube demonitized them like you can still make videos you just won't be getting paid anymore lol the Greed of some people like nobody is forcing them to make videos I just do it for the hell of it and I think everyone should to but nope everyone wants to be better than everyone and see who can make the most money on youtube like it's some big accomplishment its not just youtube I feel like that about the world to like why do we have celebrities they're just normal people like us but the world knows them and people get shocked when some celebrity passes away people pass away every single day and I don't see anyone else cry when some random person passes away except for their families so I don't think celebrities exist I think everyone is just there own person and nobody is really famous were all just the same but back to what I was saying about youtube and everything yeah all people care about is money I just wish it wasn't that way
Ah the old golden days of RU-vid from 2010-2016. When people use to respect each other and collab instead of going into dramas and influencer boxing matches
For me youtube before 2015 was just pure gold, Then everything changed when the drama alert attack, but one day the avatar I mean filthy frank will return
Honestly, the RU-vid when 100k subs was deemed almost an impossible target was the most fun. People were still figuring out sketches, commentaries, walkthroughs and shit like that on their own. Now everyone is so set in the same 'working' formula. It lost a lot of its charm.
The new kind of youtubers were brought about by viners looking for new media and the extreme change in youtube's policies. Still, Its nice to see that some of the OG Tubers are still here.
@@naenae2350quit being such a sourpuss. life is full of sunshine and rainbows. go claim the day and quit watching videos about what used to be. all we have is the present make the most out of it.
@@naenae2350 Eating some nice food or the first sip of coffee of the day is honestly the most enjoyable experience I get out of an average day now. I used to be full of joy as a kid, now there is none left.
@@Skumtomten1 I feel you, try to find fun in new things and dont compare it to how it used to be. Its fine having the past as a beautiful memory to visit from time to time
Not going to lie, as a 2016 Veteran, even though it is part of growing up, I feel like the more the years gone by, the more RU-vid becomes more corporate and soulless the more it holds its mainstream appeal
Did you really just use the word veteran and 2016 in the same sentence? I thought “no way this dude is this delusional, he must have server” only to realize…
Remembering back in 2005 and as years progressed, there were fun amazing moments but times have changed and the past 6-7 years it’s just like any other streaming platform. I lost enjoyment with doing gmvs in 2008-2010 when google bought YT and cracked down on music, making it difficult to do amvs, gmvs, etc. just like Tik Tok did few months ago. Sigh. Yes, I miss the old YT as well but I also miss the 00s in ways.
Amazing video, seeing how much things have changed brings a tear to my face, well done, thank you. Really appreciate a brief moment for Etika in the video, may his soul rest in peace.
Sadly I agree. I've only watch youtube for 10 years, but it makes me sad seeing how downhill its gone. I'm glad a lot of classic content creators have stayed and tried to keep doing their thing.
this is too much emotion and nostalgia for me to handle, i used to watch these guys when I was THREE. these guys built up my childhood through happy wheels and amnesia, sure they kind of awkward and were finding their footing through their first years of yt, but there wont be an era that's like 2008 - 2016, best years of my life. and now those years are gone.
Felix is really different from the biggest youtubers during that era, I really can't say the same thing about Jack and Mark, Pewds gave a different vibe and aura..
I'm tired of nowadays contents so I went back to all of those old YT videos from the legends... It felt so nostalgic & I even really miss them so much❤
I remember those golden days. 2015-2016 were the best RU-vid years. Filthy Frank and Jontron at their peak. Everything was so real and sincere. I liked the authenticity and sheer joy they felt from what they're doing.
i used to watch youtube back in 2008 and man has times changed. if i could give everything to experience it again i would do it no doubt. lately thinking of ending it because i dont see a bright future
@@Kaz-sg1ih well, it was mainly consisting of a bunch of gameplays, gamer houses and challenges, pretty much like the old English RU-vid but in Arabic and a little bit more extreme since most of us have anger issues
As a person who grew up with RU-vid and watched this era of RU-vid I just wanna say that these are the types of channels that have made me want to make videos, and it’s absolutely cool to see that other people also agree with this!
been watching youtube from 2007 and onwards and i loved watching youtube the most in the 2010s Rip the old youtube and the content that was lost due to google today
I miss the old youtube profiles. They were so customizable. Everyone’s had their own color scheme, backgrounds, banners, etc. There were friends lists and people could leave channel comments and stuff, all on the same page where you could watch their videos. It was so convenient, versatile and expressive. Now so much function and personality is gone
It's hard to grasp the concept that some of that was 6 to 8 years ago. Back then I was just a teen worried about getting into college who had just met my husband. How I wish to go back and tell myself to enjoy that time a little more...
