Wow you got a California Fan Palm! Washingtonia Fillifera is my favorite palm, I have a few, and one in the ground. The California Fan Palm you got, looks like it was greenhouse grown, and is used to humidity and perfect temperature. When they are greenhouse growned, they usually are grown in small pots, and dont have strong roots. The reason why I think its greenhouse growned is because the trunk is very skinny, and in nature, or outside, they will have a thicker trunk because they need it for wind protection and it holds water, and for strength. Also your palm has long thin fronds, witch is also a sign of greenhouse growed. I have bought 3 California Fan Palms from esty, from palmpay nursery, and they are greenhouse growed, and are not strong. The way to make it adapt and get strong is to water it good, but not to much, because that casues root rot, and also fertilize it, and give it little sun until it looks better, because the sun can burn the weak fronds. Also just keep a eye on it, make sure it doesn't die, if it gets worse, then make sure you give a little copper funguscide, and barely any sun. But yeah these are my tips, I would just recommend to just leave it alone until something happens. Also great video, 👍 good luck. From ABQ NM
You absolutely right! That is also where I got this palm from!! I’m bummed with the way it looks, I wish I could find one that is outside grown instead of greenhouse grown! Thank you for the tips as well! I’ll keep you posted.
i got one from the same nursery. i’m hoping it’ll be able to adapt to my 7b winters but tbh my winters have been 8a-8b the past few years. i’m surprised i didn’t go up to 8a
Wow !! Looks good 🌴 hope it survives the winter but the Californian fan palm looks sad i think it will make it good luck The Californian fan palm will need to get used the the Colorado weather 🌴 and no it’s not dying it’s stressed if it was dying it the fround will be yellow
