It's really cool seeing the learning process condensed into its most important bits. I have a hard time just playing against other people but seeing your dedication makes me want to try some online matches.
Mario has gotta be one of the most fun mid tiers out there, he's got sick combo game, good movement with wavedashes and solid fundies that make me love playing him. Doc is also fun, but on some maps you do love the walljump
Really enjoying this series. I find it entertaining as an experienced player and I think that newer players could stand to learn a lot about how to actually learn the game while playing it by watching these videos. Also 36:10 is a weird port-dependent quirk where due to the throw single frame skip, G&W will either immediately get knocked down from Mario and Dr Mario's dthrow or will bounce before being knocked down like normal. It's consistent behavior that depends on if your port is higher or lower than his.
As a Mario player, I'm always sad at how little representation he gets, especially considering how well he does against the top tiers and how much he actually has in his kit. His main issue is killing early, but a skilled Mario can beat any Fox I guess this video can also be titled "A Rookie A Rookie"
I'm loving this content. One of the best ones yet. Maybe some like, retrospectives at the end of each day might be good, as well as the voice over after all the games. Idk, just been watching a lot of survivor and love the little interviews they do.
ludvix, I have been watching your content since before I moved out of my parents place and Id just spend my nights watching your old melee vids of you and your friend, cant remember the name atm, having fun with somewhat casual/competitive melee. Anyways, I love this new style of content youre making and I look forward to each video you make. Ive watched the last few youve made. Im so proud of you for coming out of your shell and making bomb ass videos. I tell my friends, unironically, about your channel all the time. Its got content for everyone. Thank you for existing "luvdix".
Hope to see the mario return my guy. Started getting real crispy near the end. You should learn DK next since theres been a lotta hype with DKs recently.
ac backair into wavedash, late nair/upair into jabs, caping offstage, upair strings, fireballs to edge guard/recover, down b for mix ups, dthrow techchase
This was awesome! I watch a crap ton of melee content but have never really been inspired to play. For some reason this hit different, and I might give Slippi a try
Iirc in melee the mario up b walljump is more consistent when you start the up b touching the wall. On yoshi’s double jumping into the wall then starting up b touching wall normalizes the walljump timing, but very niche mario yoshis story tech. Great video!
I really think these could apply to even more fighting games. The way you detail your thought process in learning what works and doesn't is really good and likely helpful to people less familiar with smash or fighting games in general. Keep up the great content.
As a Doc player, this both feels very familiar (people respond to Doc in low tiers in a similar way, swapping characters and getting frustrated even though I'm just trying to play the game against them) and very alien, because Doc, while having more upsides than downsides vs. Mario, lacks specifically the F-Smash reach, and so many instances of improvement in this vid were learning how to F-Smash punish. Mostly commenting for visibility because this video was really cool to watch as a long time Melee player and recent Doc, but it's also interesting to watch someone else play against top tiers and have a very similar experience as they learn.
Nice video. It's nice to see the process of someone learning an under represented character. It was a little weird how I felt like the commentary was talking to me like I've never played Melee though.
I main mario specifically I prefer his up tilt up air cape and movement also fire ball/ pill is immaculate off stage I really love angling f smash upward to connect a kill after up air or short hop up air full hop up air onto platform into f smash
If Ludvix continues this ranked series with Melee characters I want him to do Kirby so he can take advice from that guy who mained him in that video from 2016
I would have never thought to get into competitive smash but this video makes it look like so much fun. Going to see how I fair, going to have to learn the fundamentals first!
ok, so at 30:36 you're giving that falco too much credit. you caped too early, and turned him around in the start up animation and he just held towards ledge like a normal recovery.
These videos are great but i really miss the videos of you getting bodied by low/high tier mains, you still have yet to fight bowser, pichu, zelda, sheik, roy, peach, samus, link and young link.
