Great video! I love how you made 100h about the real game and not the first 100 do nothing hours. I personally love just turning my brain off, grind and see numbers go up, but i agree the game is really mid but the combat and the classes simple outshine any other mmo like this for me. I wonder what games you gonna review like this. Some of them really just a torture to play for 100h...

Fair take.. and yeah BDO is a nightmare for new players especially the impatient once.. theres so many systems, items that needs to be simplified though surprisingly this last few updates it focuses on those problems. And if people still want to try it out.. I suggest to join a guild that actively do dungeons, guild boss rush and maybe a little bit of pvp.. that way you won't feel alone.. and always start on season server.

I tried a seasonal server recently on a fresh class and there are SO many pointless quests... I don't know how you got through them all. I gave up after a few hours of running back and forth to quest objectives and skipping through dialogue.

Whats the point of "the best MMO combat in the genre" when there is that much desync it ruins everything? I am so glad you mentioned it. Not saying the combat isn't fantastic to some extent but the desync ruins PvP so much. And then for PvE the game has no endgame content besides running around in circles killing mindless mobs on repeat. It was a fun world to get lost in for a while but the magic died real quick once I got to "endgame".

I know it's an old video, but not so old, so i want to give my 2 cent about it. I 100% agree with the free rewards, passes, and so on. Also with the hundreds of buffs and scrolls you need to pop before going for PVP/PVE. At some point when you are at early/mid game, it may feel nice, but after some time, this is just like a chore, and it's 100% needless and should have never exist. I hate this, and you also feel obligated to pop and go straight up, and not even get 5 minutes off the PC, as you will miss your AP/DP buff or Item drop buff. Same for the Item Collection and so on. They should just buff the drop rates, and remove all of this garbage. The only thing left, needs to be the Agris. Church buff, Tent buff, Scrolls buffs, Food buff, Furniture buff, Horse Buff, Elixir one, Draught one, etc, etc. After you do this for thousand time, you don't want to even start the game to go to grind, as there is so much chore to do before going. The only buff you should have is the Draught with 15 min. that you should keep an eye, nothing else. Now as far as the free rewards and all the login stuffs, they are doing this to force people mind to go into the game and to hang for 1-2 hours to get the rewards. This is garbage design that is f**** people mind and is making you addictive, as you feel you lost so much if you not log every single day. Nothing should be given for free, and instead you should earn that reward by actually playing the game. And events are not real events, just more of the same with better rewards, it's nothing new really. Again the only reward should be if you do a certain achievements in the game, not just log in for 2 hours, you get this for free. Next post will be on to the combat and other stuffs in the game i like don't like.

Might sound odd but for me the one singular thing that keeps pushing me away is the numerous buffs I need to have to be on the efficient range along with the need for a value pack to be on an acceptable level for making some silver properly, otherwise the game is pretty much virtually perfect and for some the rng gearing system may be also a thing to push you back from the game but the direction is certainly getting somewhere and yeah the game is bloated with a lot of items that we have no idea about when we log back in.

I agree, Maybe they think giving endgame stuff easily will attract new player, But new player wont last long with overwheming item and boring quest.

Every single game stinks when you reduce them to how efficient the grind or farming is. And I believe these concepts were largely born from streaming. The solution? Just play the game. You don’t really need to grind or farm if you just play the game. I noticed a lot of BDO players claim there is no lore or interesting quests in this game. Well, if you’re just focused on spamming through the dialogue and skip reading anything, you are correct. But, again, if you actually play the game for the journey; you’ll find meaning in the quests and a wealth of interesting lore. In short, stop playing these games like streamers and min-maxer’s; and you’ll start having fun again.

The problem is players that grinded for 10000 of hours in this game want that they can do pvp with their gear but the problem is , that it is really unbalanced for newer players and they will complain. Yes its frustrating but you will not always face higher geared players and there is still season servers. I got beaten so many times when i was new but after a while i also killed some other players.

What a pain in the ass to even begin playing. You won’t even understand the heck is in your inventory. And no, old MMOs do _not_ “shower you with items” you know nothing about. That is a relatively recent thing by MMO ages and mostly part of asian MMOs.

I think the buff management isn't bad and also it isn't necessary as a new player to min-max. I like that there is some complexity which can be rewarding if done properly. As an experienced player it takes very little time to get all the buffs on. I completely agree that all the daily rewards and other free stuff are just nonsense. People should actually play the game to earn their currency/items not just get handed things without doing anything. And for sure one of the worst one is free t9 horse, because not only training skill is already pointless after T8 horses, but now new players have no reason to capture any horses anymore so unless you go for the ranks, training is just dead. And they should get rid of 12h a day marni realm, because it just makes the world more empty. And I do also think that they should upgrade/improve their engine. Btw fishing isnt exactly dead, people are just doing it full afk all the time. Main fishing spots always have people fishing and it is decent money for a completely afk activity. But despite its flaws, the game is still very good. I play it daily and at least for now there is no competition :)

I played bdo for Such a long time, easily 2000 hours. Amazing game, getting progress on your gear after 280 AP, is amazingly bullshit. Even if you manage to Do 200 mil per hour, (Not many can Do that?) that would be 5 hours for 1 bil. For a PEN Belt (ogre Ring) thats 70 bil usualy (its cheaper now because silver basicly crashed for everything) that would be 350 hours for 50 bil, just to have the item safe, without gambling. Thats hardcore. Wasting 350 hours for 1 item, and you would still need other items too.i Iove Grindy games, but this is just straight up mental.

As a veteran of the game, I will say that the fun and thrill factor of PvP has declined significantly. There hasn't been any major refresh of Node War/Siege besides an increase in the rewards and open-world PvP (e.g GvGs) has been stagnant. I was hoping that War of the Roses would be something similar to Elder Scrolls Online's Cyrodiil, however it turned out to be an extremely limited (participants and schedule) and watered down version of Cyrodiil. PvE in the end-game has become somewhat meaningless while the dungeon content doesn't live up to MMORPG standards. Black Desert primarily excels in its visuals, combat system and the gear system (your gear never becomes completely useless).

What you said in the first 4 min is what so many bdo vets cant explain in 30+ min. Open world pvp players have been sabotaged and the game is just not the same anymore. Back then open world PvP WAS the endgame, now without it, there is no endgame. I can see a new player coming in with no knowledge of this and thinking its an 8/10 and I couldn't blame them. But for anyone who was around since the start knows the game is a sad shell of what it once was.

HI neeko as a lost ark player burned out from daily routine (chaos ,guardian,weekly raid on 6 char) and pvp enjoyer; i feel like BDO is the only mmo worth playing at the moment and the only one with potential + there is not much pay to win u can max pets and get good fairy for free, tent is a must buy 30 euros with discounts then u can shop weight limit if u want,value pack once in while with loyalties and u are good to go + seems that pearl abyss is listening player base for pvp and already moving inn the right directions on simplyfing the game.

Saw this video thanks to BlueSquadron reviewing it on stream, and I have to say as a 4 year bdo gamer now, your takes are on point. The game went from a thriving pvp heaven to a boring instanced pve circle simulator, no thanks to the lost ark refugees a few months ago. Sadly there just isn't a better mmo right now to replace it even in its current state. There are plans for new bosses for land of the morning light part 2 later this year (which will be done in groups and requires high gear instead of the "equalized" current bosses) but other than that there is sadly still no reason to gear up, be it for endgame pvp (since most of it is fucking capped now) or endgame raids. I know you get roasted by Stoopzz a lot for your other mmo reviews but honestly good job on this one.

I used to play BDO ( your points about too much crap are soo true :)), BUT i think it's the best combat engine existing in any current MMO... You keep mentioning that people should play a different mmo if they are PVP focused, can you please suggest which one? I would love to play a game that is better at it than BDO as it is IMO the best game for PVP and no other game comes close ( you dont even have to grind, just do trial mode practice and Arena of solaire and it's awesome fun )... You need to actually learn the mechanics of other classes, their strengths weakneses, what animation is CCable and from where etc... For example, i recently tried T&L(supposedly a decent pvp game) On korea and the combat there seems basic/boring. Equal gears as a bow/dagger all you do is, root/bind, press 1, 2, 3, 3(if 3 crits) and the oponent is probably dead... The only reactive gameplay comes with the Q(block/evade) and even that is just a guessing game most of the time. In bdo, you need to learn to cycle your super armor/invincibility/frontal block, watch for your opponent's animations, try to bait a reaction from the other player to make him vulnerable, faint ccs, etc etc IMO nothing comes close to BDO combat, even if you do desync sometimes which is normal in any mmo/online game outside of lan

I agree to most of your takes besides your take on meaning to progress, although I do understand that feeling very well. I think meaning to progress in BDO isn't so much weaker than any other games if you don't think too much about it. Yes, it used to have more meaning way back then and we all miss the good ol' days. However, games like POE or any single player games have basically zero meaning to progress if you seek meaning too much. I really try not to think too much about it anymore. I think that the feeling of the lack of meaning is a sign of you getting older. I'm 37 years old, and my love to gaming has changed from "I love gaming" to "I want to love gaming like I used to". Sometimes I buy games on steam but I'll just get satisfied after making purchase and don't play it immediately lol. Is it because new games are not good enough? I honestly don't know any more. Perhaps you already have felt that too at some point lol Despite all that, I keep coming back to BDO and this game hooks me right in like magic for some reason. Yes, it has very distinct "rough edges" here and there and it makes me face palm how bad some contents are, but I can say BDO is arguably still the best mmo out there that's still worth playing ;) Maybe you should extend your revisit to BDO longer and see if it gives you more motivation like it did to me. BDO community needs more OG streamers back xD

Well yeah, for new players bdo can be overwhelming, BUT they re in the change progress. Means, they will do a lot of stuff and things easier. I love and hate bdo, this rng thing sucks rly often 😅 But I play bdo for 4 years now and I will stay there ❤ Its a nice game, with a lot of content ♡

Looking for a meaningful endgame to use your gear progression in pvp and proceeds on saying he stopped doing NW and Sieges. O_O I'm so confused with this logic.

BDO before Kamasylvia was definitely in the outstanding 9/10 category for me, I was so invested back in the day. PvP and the fights over territories were a huge deal and basically every PEN item had a story ppl could share. Obviously it had so many bugs, bad UI, desync etc. but the world felt magical, getting gear upgrades felt insanely meaningful and the fact that they still tried to keep everything truely open world, gave it that special thing over all the other instanced MMOs. Ah well Im getting carried away again, but I guess that just shows, how special Pre-Kamasylvia BDO was back then. Current devs lack vision and sadly implement the "easy" game design choices with instancing content more and more. Balancing the open world pvp, fighting for resources and make ppl interact with each other are all much harder to make good, so I guess they just scrapped that.

Whos gonna tell this dude he doesn't have to hold LITTERALLY everything that drops in his inventory. Towns have storage, you don't need to carry all the latent auras and boss crystals from every boss you kill. Especially now that we have universal storage, you can just chuck shit you are never gonna use in the LoML towns and not care about it until you need it. you have 55 sharps 14 hards and 26 flawless blacksones in your inventory, pick one city and leave your enchanting shit there. You exaggerate how bad it is, but you just have horrible inventory management, and when that is your first topic it scuffs your credibility for the rest of the video. Also you dont need all the buffs, but it helps if you want to get the most out of your time. If a 9 elixir rotation is too much for you to remember, just use draughts, litterally better than nothing. I love how this popped up in my recommended. You left BDO for Lost Ark, and now that Lost Ark is dying you jump back on BDO (or maybe you just did it for content, cause your channel is dying without you bashing games people like) and complain how it isnt perfect or what you remember. then after 100 hours you think you an enlightened take on the game, when withing the last year half your videos have been shitting on games and you even quit MMOS. this video title should be "doomer content creator picks at straws cause for views"

I totally agree with your point, that there is really nothing to work towards in the game. You just grind faster, make more money, thats it. I was thinking about the same thing for weeks. I came back to the game after 2 years, and yeah, its infinitely better nowadays, but i dont know why I'm playing it. I made it to 670gs within 3 months and I'm kinda bored. Yeah, I can work on a lot of stuff, on a lot of gear, journals, quests, treasures, but for what... BDO's endgame goal is what you said: to progress. But for what? Nothing really, just simply progress. This is why I will leave it again. But don't get me wrong. It's still an amazing game. Great combat, a massive world with good immersion, the guilds and the community is by far in the top 3 in the genre, you can tell the devs and the staff care about the community too, lots of variety in content (but after a while all of them is extremely repetitive), still the best looking MMO (nothing even compares) with the best PvP. A solid 7-8/10 game for me still. But yeah, you are also right about the engine. Holy-moly its baaad. And they cant change it, no chance, so this is how it will always be like. Yikes.

BDO could be amazing mmorpg if devs reinvested something back into the game by making new engine for example. Sadly exploiting and milking mmorpg player base is way easier and dont require any effort since we are all beaten dogs desperate for any mmorpg to play. BDO even lost its identity by trying to apeal to wider PVE audience by focusing on pve carebear content as time went on. Such wasted potential, please someone save this dead genre and us from medicore games Prayge

thanks for going thought this pain and saving us the time xD can't actually tell, but i don't think i'll ever be convinced any mmo has a better pvp combat system than wow(at least what it used to be in wotlk). it just feels so well thought out. the amount of shit u can do with macros is crazy, certain classes only being able to dispell certain kinda buffs, partly only on mates, partly only on enemys(instead of all healers being able to dispell magic as they could from cata on), entering and leaving combat, faking/kicking/SWDing, and so on...

ppl think bdo is lacking/nerfing pvp but the truth is they're just balancing it. Now it feels better, pvp and pve. Nothing is more or less. The difference of pvp back then was that its very toxic, if u think the pvp now is bad. 100% you're a toxic player and should never ever play the game.

after playing bdo I found that the pvp is absolutely horrid they made all these beautiful attacks etc to souly rely on the person your attacking to be on the ground grappled the pvp is just not what I expected tried to get into it but the barrier to entry to the gameplay is just not worth running around avoiding grapples trying to grab and then on top of that the better computer = more dps just made me shelf the game and never come back dont see the love the game gets for its pvp

BDO for a new player is an absolute mess of an experience. It asks so much of the player with its shoddy UI, constant pop-ups, its combat which is just thrown at you, and seeing this video and hearing about the buff system and i'm just like.. wtf happened. Also, unpopular opinion here, but the movement in this game is terrible. Feels like I am in a constant battle with my character, the camera, the jumping, it's all so sluggish. If I were to go by your tier list and where you've rated your other games, the game would absolutely be in painful tier since I believe it's at least two tiers below NW and D4. It's just not a good experience, actually the literal opposite of NW and D4 in fact, which are both very beginner friendly. Really enjoyed the video o/

I have a few stuffs and comments for you even if near the end your video got a bit too ~extended and scrambled my brain/thoughts (I probably can`t even spell that word, to it`s similar and vice verca). Where to start... where to start... Yeah Put Diablo 2 in 10 Masterpiece :P. Also I can see you are on the EU server... You probably were very ahead of me for quite a while, but after you've parked I now have ~more stats than your character... (Not that they are within the actually hard to acquire realm, for those that actually actively pursue them). Now back to where I were gonna originally start and I kind of did... so it`s kind of funny thing and the "stat comparison" above is part of it. So you see I like you for the BDO video you've made... Ooh I've forgotten, the funny chain of events that brought me here... I were/am real time watching a Throne and Liberty Streamer... and someone linked him your video, 34 minutes fresh out of the oven. So the thing is... My more than yours stats... You've still beaten C7 LoML boss before me o_0... now I dislike you for that... it balances out but... erm... Damn you... You come back from who knows how long pause and there goes the C7 I haven`t done yet. Admittedly I were doing it on "abysmal" alt to torture myself and C5 is still 1 time per boss thing for me... When I tried to repeat C5 I ended up removing my alt from LoML and stopped interacting with that content... The reason however is not >Desync< Now I have 2 Stories specially for you... one of them is story... because you picked on the engine so much, the other one is recent (for me and in general PvP story). I wouldn`t like to see the current engine replaced with Unreal 5 any time soon (in fact my brain might be completely fried, but that might be a blasphemy) and here`s why... See earlier on I were playing BDO on a very old PC (I probably am playing on +1 year of your start since today, if you have started in the very beginning) It was very bad for me after remastered, yet I insisted to play it on remastered, because it were more or less equally bad either way... Around short of an Year ago I fully replaced my Old PC with entirely new (or even bellow accounted for today) PC and stepping on it... as it is (I will however not share the exact specs, except 1 measurement under certain parameters)... On remastered, high textures, all everything (players, effects, pets, fairy - Camera effects, not the blurry Anti Aliasing) on admittedly 1080p (that is 1920x1080 on 21` display - native) do you know how my BDO gameplay looks and feels (for my in game current power accounted for) on everything bellow Garmoth and Sieges (which admittedly as willing non guild member I do not do)... It feels as if I have grabbed >the Lord< for the balls... that is how it feels (and because of my specified mid PC and 1080p I am sure that can go ~way up) also there is another thing, because I afk a lot and other reasons I also V Sync (that is GPU caps on as many frames your monitor can display and my 1080p potato also happens to be TV grade 60hz). However if I uncap I go in between 120 ~ 160 on solitary grind or medium amount of more than grind stuffs happening (that is for now a bit of an assumption, I am yet to explore fully that limit) and what is weird it does not Tear... I know it does not displays me 1/2 what happens in theory... but the speed is there and I can pretty much still make use of it (if we assume your claim about FPS = Speed is true... which unfortunately ~unfortunately probably is true) Also this ~variation in between 120 ~ 160 still is butter smooth on omg wtf fast (it`s hard to describe). That is how we reach the PvP story... at this point it is not even really that interesting, I just kind of wanted to share it with you... I were grinding my shamefully low by all standarts spot, and the guy grinding on the slightly harder nearby variation of the same spot, apparently became bored of what he or she were doing. He also happened to be the success spec of my awake choice. So he came, he flagged and playfully swapped me, did not jump PKed me... I kind of were like ~whatever at that point so I touched him for me also "flagging on him" (I did not flag myself thou)... So a fight started and it was a bit messy and unsightly (btw I also were Uncapped at that point, I sometimes try to "feel the difference" between 60 and 140 average, let`s say... if once again we are 100% sure there is one). I won that one... Than he respawned on the spot and I decided to be mean and establish my superiority... however did not work out my way... he played his success to it`s strong points and I became a victim of that, maybe 1 x mess up of me, because I am on Marni Copy paste (if that means anything for you) (But Also my main would have probably been owned more, even if I am more experienced on him). I also got up on the spot but lost again... Than maybe ~again... Respawned on the node this time. I remembered I am on my PvE crystals and food and draughts and artifacts... Because he or she were grinding on the harder variation I assume maybe a bit better equip... + He also obviously knew how to use his toon. So I decided it`s a good time to test my all out... But actually at first I swapped just the crystals and the artifacts... I went to him, because he continued his or hers activity and flagged but I also got intimidated by the mob cluster and had to V (now it`s getting slightly not cool this story). Anyways than I PvP food buffed, PvP draught (same perfume, because I don`t like spending on that more than the cheapest usable). Also gained 100% Rage... Went to him flagged, he moved away from the mobs... and I properly 2 shot him :P 1 Initiation with some CC into 100% he dead... Now he might have thought I am underaged for my 2 previous deaths and 1 V escape and put an armor piece of in before stepped away from the mobs, but ~maybe not. Anyways For me it felt very proper and how it should have been going :P Maybe I should have tried without the 100%... But honestly after my Initiation I lost him visually and I 100% "blind" or ~into the nothingness I just saw the Kill MSG which was enough of proper result :P. I couldn`t see or your remember your nick of the video, but for doing C7 LoML boss in before me, I wanna 2 shot you on sight as a salute now :P (But if you manage to fight back and grab me on that pesky striker and somehow combo my double to yours HP on still even more defensive stats... that would in return make me pretty sadge :P) The Moral of this entire story... or the tl.dr. is... BDO with it`s current engine can and will make use of even 5000 RTX series when they come out and appropriate CPU + RAM + SSD on appropriately sized Monitor and with good refresh rate. I personally wouldn`t be too eager with the swap. I can also testify that PvP have always in any game been very hardware reliant... come on... in the 4 buttons game of LoL... Haven`t you sometimes thought when you clicked your button and the skill did not come out and the opponent parked you flat on your face... is because in the direct comparison his Faster, Newer, Higher Grade CPU told yours to .!. itself? o_0 (more or less) now the Server >is< (hopefully) and be Arbiter in that... or there could be nothing like this to begin with... Also also... That Drakania Grabbed you fare and square... the end.
