The honest truth is that "the grind" is no longer considered acceptable by the community anymore. If you have to grind TOO much for something people hate it now. They expect to have "resets" to just get in play, and leave. Little to no long term progression.

Very true. MMOs are losing their edge and honestly any advantage they used to have when games like Elden Ring and other multiplayer titles that are actually good and fun to play exist. With MMOs you get maybe get a great game at the core, but then rampant p2w, nonsense design decisions like endless boring dailies in Lost Ark that only exist to pressure you into spending money, grinds because they have to pad out the gameplay somehow as an MMO, all ruin the experience. Most of your time is spent doing chores rather than having fun and it's tiresome.

Refreshing to see a content creator actually valuing their own and their audiences time. Great video, I'm sick of people who spent thousands of hours in a game and are to emotionally invested trying to convince others that it's a good game. Also the burger analogy is spot on, but the reality is that every game company today have the "do you guys not have phones" mentality. We are cash cows nothing else.

Man I went to gw2 and I know why I hate other mmos so much just to point out you can get best gear by doing raid , explore , crafting, arena and even 100 vs 100 vs 100 and when I say best gear those gears are for all so if you finished getting you legendary accessories they are for all the account so yeah I am so happy I went back

TBH i think Content creators play these games to much they ruin it for themselves. idk i think when its your job to play games( even on days you might not feel like ) you tend to start to decline in happiness and enjoyment. remember when you had work/school/chores then what you did for enjoyment/free time was play a game. when your enjoyment hobby is unlimited and non stop i think it will dull no matter how amazing the game. You have balls brother, I really liked your video, you say things that are totally real, like the fact that people have no standards, absolutely none, we can even take it to something tangible, on steam approximately 80% of people buy 5 games a year (I dare say that they probably don't play any of those games that they bought) and they spend their time playing the little free to play multiplayer game of the moment for thousands of hours until another game comes out and each one is worse than the last, and this generates that his perspective and his criteria are worth the same as a pile of shit, I don't know if you saw last year's game awards, many people nominated genshin impact as game of the year, brother it's crazy when I found it beyond ridiculousness it was the fact that stray got so far to the point of being nominated for the best indie game of that year with the indie gems that came out in 2022, a completely scripted game, boring in general... 0 game design. And now speaking of mmos, bdo is the only one that I really liked, but the game is completely broken, it doesn't make any sense to play it, there is nothing wrong with giving things to the new player, but they reached such a point of facilitating the game that in two days you already have your equipment "tuvala" in pen and that can be transformed into tet boss equipment which allows you to access almost all the content of the game without any problem, apart from the fact that the areas with less ap give more silver than those with more ap, in centaurs that do not ask for anything, you can get a billion an hour and in most 250+ spots you get about 200 million, it is a game in which you grind to improve equipment that you are not going to use, Not even casual pvp to win spot now practically exists, people enter the marnis realm and the problem is over and nobody fights spot, which was quite exciting, all multiplayer games are meaningless lately and it's because people basically don't ask for anything , as long as it looks pretty and the gameplay is visually attractive and you press several buttons is enough.

In regards to RMT-ing being socially accepted... I think it was more like resignation rather than people accepting it. Because people saw a lot of RMTers getting away with cheating, or getting some temporary bans and they will be back, retaining all of their stuff. I know guys that RMTed, got banned for like 3 months, and then they cam back and still have their full lv10 gems and other shit. Also, the in-game RMT system didn't help with people's perception of RMT either. Because IMO, I see no difference between the in-game RMT Bezos system and the RMT from Ugandan secret traders (bot farmers) other than the later selling gold 3-4 times cheaper.

Back to your roots bro. In my opinion you are a pvp player at heart. You could try out Eternal Return which just had it's Season 3 start. You could play Naraka Bladepoint which just went full F2P and had PS5 release. Baldur's Gate 3 also just released. Same as Remnant 2.What about Street Fighter 6? mmorpgs used to be the genre with big open worlds, pvp, co-op roleplaying, social interaction 20 yrs ago etc but other genres like single player rpgs, arpgs, monster hunter and BRs caught up in game size and features that mimic what mmos did in the past. with how risky it is to make a mmorpg i dont think the genre will innovate in any meaningful way

I agree with you. so what if a lot of games come out like most are secondary garbage based in 99% on ideas that have already been. mmo games have reached the wall. they did it to themselves. wanted to eat the cake and have it too. slow development, but not too slow. possible to speed up for money. the game is supposed to consume your time and engage you but not too much because you have a job and a life so everything was done to get around it. microtransactions and mechanics that are supposed to make you addicted, not fun, but addictive. constantly playing on emotions and the feeling that if you don't play, you lose something. society will change and bend and everyone will play these dopamine games or mmo games will die and we will wait 10 years again for the next wave/mode.

The main problem is just one.... treat videogames for what they made for.... FUN ! If isnt fun to play. just quit . RL are not videgames. Play old mmos because is there where all mmos lover want to have fun. And all of us are growing so maybe there s a time to stop playing and maybe someday coming back

Some games getting released and pple have to pay the full price for it but at the same time it isnt a full game/early access. MMO's before world of warcraft brought their own innovation to the growing genre and WoW in a sense mastered it and brought a lot of advancement. After that, no MMO game has advanced the genre in any significant way.

Man, its so funny to see haw ppl from other MMOs are being shitted on by the devs over and over again, and even if they do learn, they just cope. I guess I'll keep watching ppl get disappointed and sad that there is no good MMO and all the MMOs they invest their time and energy in, dont actually have any respect for their time so they end up wasting it. All this while Im actually enjoying what seems to be the only game left that respects its players and is not overly greedy. From my perspective, Gw2 has continued to become better and better, offering so much variety that its really impossible for me to get bored of it. And all this is bcz instead of doing what every other MMO did, by adding vertical progression and calling it content, gw2 added horizontal progression, which means they actually expanded the game mechanics, systems, combat features, game modes, QoL and so on (basically expanding WHAT your character can do and HAW, instead of giving it a bigger POWER NUMBER). All the content is this game feels handcrafted and made with actual passion (something you havent seen in a while by playing all those mainstream hype based cash grabs). So yeah, even tho all games have flaws and gw2 has its fair share of them. I think having the devs actually respect your time and see them put passion in their game, prioritising content quality over profit is the most important thing when it comes to any game not just MMOs. At least some ppl are starting to wake up about all the greed happening in the MMO space, and the abusive psychological strategies that MMOs are using to keep their players grinding and spending, so I guess thats a good thing.

MMOs have been like this since 1996 and even before, the only difference is the internet, you will probably be waiting for a good MMO until 2100.

Honestly IMO ppl wont care much about p2w if the system around it arent that stingy, for example early days of lost ark. But smilegate make every other aspect of lost ark as toxic as possible with insane degree of RNG and time needed to grind, and AGS keep pushing contents so fast is the best combination at making a toxic game.

Players' complacency with mediocrity is only half the issue. Devs are proud and arrogant as well and take feedback from their dedicated audience for granted. Case in point: D4 devs blocking people providing constructive, non-toxic criticism on Twitter. Can't wait to hear why we're all wrong during their next campfire chat this Friday :)

You will never get the same experience as your 1st mmo you played. When people do something repeatedly we our brain doesnt release as much dopamine to endure that, specialy when its a game and this not affect your real life.

If you want to fall in love with gaming again, play some single player ones, BG3 is a fine choice. The zelda game, elden ring, there's plenty to choose. MMOs are a dead dream now, feels good to have quit.

I have felt the same in recent times. Most MMORPG's out there are basically copy paste of one another, really the only two that have ever stand out for me were BDO and ArcheAge, everything else just feels like a WoW wannabee. If those are my options, i would just rather stick to WoW than starting a whole new MMORPG that is basically just a different skin. For years now most of these games have been all made on the same formula, one that worked quite well back in the day but honestly at this point it has gotten stale and most of us are looking for something completely new that would hold our attention for more than a few days to a month.

Agree with you, Neeko. I don't know why it seems there's no spectrum between cult-like following and doomer. Just recently quit Lost Ark myself, but I can't see any other MMO to come back to except maybe FFXIV (because of their very newbie -friendly community). Also, there was a video of Kanon asking content creators to rate Diablo4, and I vaguely remember barely anyone rated it 7/10 or lower. Ask them now: do they seriously believe that with the gameplay and the recent patch of D4?
