Fav has to be Tekken 3, for getting me to finally shelve Street Fighter and embrace 3d gaming - followed closely by Tekken Tag Tournament. Right now, after 2000 hours in Tekken 7, I should list it as well.
@@jonmoree116 agreed. Love the characters of Tekken 2, but of course prefer the gameplay of 3, so it’s the best of both worlds. And that soundtrack? Perfection. Tekken 2 would be 2nd for me because of Jun, and the ambience the soundtrack brings to the game.
You missed the Tekken Ball in T3 and the Theatre mode. In Tekken 2, there are secret modes where you can modify your characters like the Plump mode and Wireframe first person mode. You can also unlock the theatre mode by entering a secret code
Side note for Tekken 2 on why it's impressive for it's time is it was a year of development after the release of Tekken 1 where they made it smoother, add more moves, and ultimately everything you would want a sequel to be at the time.
It was basically the equivalent to a modern update but at the time they could only RE release It as a second game but at It really was ...was an update
I love your videos but a suggestion I would make for future games like this, when there are a lot of characters in every game, if you're going to list them all, try to do it while showing a picture of them or something. Because unless the viewer already knows who they are, listing them says nothing to the audience. Also I think it'll be fun to see them change from the first game to the last (the ones that appear in all of the games). Anyway, it's just a suggestion, love your videos! Keep it up because you're doing great.
@@Takahashi_Takeda then why watch a video on it if you don't even know the characters lmao. Not like this one is groundbreaking for helping people with the lore or characters
Honestly, I would love to see a full video on Death by Degrees. The game is so odd and fascinating, and doesn't really seem to get much coverage, even when it was new
There are some interesting elements to the controls, and with practice you can actually pull off some seriously cool shit. So many "action games" just take their combat from DMC, so I always appreciate it when a game takes a different approach. The Resident Evil style exploration and puzzles is gratifying too.
18:41 afaik, in tekken 7, they have "punishment training" in practice mode where the opponent does an attack and the game tells you which move is the best to punish the enemy with. in the harder mode, you have to remember which moves you can use to punish.
it is also my favourite in terms of story, soundtrack, stages, modes, ect,... But going back to it recently I realised that the gameplay isn't really good imo.
I’m someone who had played all the other tekken games but never got tekken 4. I played it this year and loved it, you can really see how it bridged the different tech between Tag and 5. The sound track is great and the stages are super cool, I love the airport
Started my journey with this series with T5 but I gotta say T4 has the best overall soundtrack. Authentic Sky is my personal favorite track from the series
Not sure how I missed this but growing up as a huge Tekken fan I’ve been waiting for this one! Your videos are pretty cozy and laidback, simply some dude revisiting some of gaming’s most iconic franchises. I love watching them for the informative yet non polished vibe these videos give off. Keep doing what you’re doing man, even if you stop doing the “I played every game” series, I know you’ll keep evolving your content and make something good.
Fun fact about the CPU in Tekken 6-7. I know TTT2 used to pull Ghost Data from the servers and had you play against Ghosts that represented actual players + VF4 and VF5's Kumite/Quest Mode actually had the AI opponents be based on real players, to where the highest ranked characters were folks like Chibata, Ohsu Akira, Bunbunmaru, etc.
This made me go download an emulator to play Tekken 3 again. It's my first gaming memory. My dad used to be a gamer back in the 90s, so when my parents split in '98, he started letting me watch, and eventually play with him. I can't even imagine seeing a 3 year old playing a 2D fighter but he probably needed the wins. Didn't take me too long to actually get better than him though, and that's when he didn't want to play with me anymore and started grabbing single-players instead. Great memories. It also made me tech-savvy as heck, so kudos to him.
24:03 the names came from the original arcades that the Tekken 5 arcade version was played on, they just ripped a bunch of ghost names from the arcade machines and put them in the disc.
The tekken 5 intro starts from the Jins ending in tekken 4 because you can see the hole in the roof with feathers floating around from devil Jin. Hwoarangs ending was my favorite with the music and devil jins intimidating walk. All the humor endings like Lee, Law, Paul and Panda/Kuma are also fun.
Nice video, I really enjoyed seeing your experience with this franchise. There are some things that I can nitpick about but overall, it's nothing major. To answer your question at 24:00, the names from the AI I believe are actually sampled from arcade users during playtesting and early access to the arcade version of the game.
Yeah for Tekken 4 Kazuya's remains were found and the lab at G corp decided to take him in and revive him with his Devil Gene, which is why he's all scarred up
Tekken 3 will always hold a special place in my heart because it’s the first fighting game I remember playing as a kid, my oldest brother put me onto it and as a kid alongside the first Mortal Kombat. The no voice dialogue gave it kind of a creepy/mysterious vibe especially both Jin and Hwoarang’s arcade endings, they always both intrigued and creeped me out as a kid seeing Devil Jin
Tekken Tag 1 was my first video game, ever. So I have a lot of nostalgia and love for this series. Music, characters, stories, UGH! Loved this video. Thanks!
I started playing competetive with Tekken 7 but played every Tekken since Tekken 1. I LOVE all of them but I can safely say that Tekken 5 DR is my most favorite Tekken of all time, maybe even my most favorite fighting game. I hope that Tekken 8 can surpass every game in the series!
AGREED! 24 year Tekken Vet here.. played competitively since TTT1 arcade days.... Tekken 5 DR is the truest, fairest, competitive Tekken to ever grace the series hands down!
@CYB3R2K30 Bryan, Feng if these two were removed or adjusted, the game would have been more balanced, thats why DR was better, due to good if not perfect game balance
That’s crazy! I have Tekken Dark resurrection I like it but not more than tekken 4 each stage on that had an a,b, or , c….the interaction with the stages on tekken 4 is unmatched Tekken DR just has better looking graphics, but it doesn’t have that 3D nostalgic feel ! Tekken 4 -9/10 Tekken DR8/10
Loved this vid! Avid Tekken player here, and it was cool to hear your opinion and experience of each game! I myself have never played Tekken Card Challenge, Tekken Advance, and Death By Degrees, so you definitely taught me something about those games as well! Looking forward to the follow-up to this! Definitely got me as a sub! Keep up the great work! 👍😃
Heihachi threw Kazuya off the cliff first when he was a child. Kazuya's ending in Tekken 1 is him getting his revenge by throwing off Heihachi. That was when he turned heel from good guy to bad guy. Shit was so dope when it came out.
I grew up with Tekken 3 and I must say, even then (in the 90s) going back to 1 or 2 felt like regressing an entire generation. Tekken 4 always felt like a big stylistic deviation from the series.
Yeah, I feel ya, but don't forget that after the 4th, we had the 5, which got back on the way (less stylistic deviation?). All Tekken on PS2 were lit, same as all of them on PS1, sales ain't lying. For me, shit happen from 6 when Xbox players discovered Tekken
what casual and competitive tekken fan's need to look out for now on is that when a character that has Leroy Smith level's of drip pray he or she isn't broken🤣 or a iconic 2d fighter comes in and fold everyone
Oh man, I was here waiting for you to talk about the Tekken Ball mode in Tekken 3 but it's not in the video... :( That mode was so freaking fun, the fact that you could play volleyball in Tekken was just... amazing.
If you like the environmental destruction in Tekken 5, you might enjoy the DOA series. It takes the concept of interactive stages and dials it up to 100 (in fact, I think it was the game that made interactive stages popular in 3D fighters)
They had most detail they added, is the mouth interior, adding polygons as their teeths and tongues. in Tekken 4. By the way you missed in tekken 3, In julia's ending, this is the first voice acting in a cutscene.
I want to get into this series thanks to Kazuya being in smash and my love for fighting games. So now I watch this video, I really want to play these games
This video gave me nice bits of nostalgia! Tekken was a big part of my childhood. Did you play these in each of their consoles? How did you get them all and played?
Tekken 5 ost also makes this game so good back at the time.. i really like the moonlight ost and cathedral theme, the stages also make the two ost fit so well where you can feel the vibe.
When you're talking about the characters in the roster, you should show who they are for any newcomers to understand and to show if they would have an interest in a certain character.
Yeah, I started doing that in part 2 after a few people suggested that. It's honestly a good idea and I should've been doing it the whole time. Thanks! :)
As someone who has played Tekken since the beginning in the 90’s, and STILL one of my favorite fighters, I love how you covered, and explored the games for yourself to gain the experiences. I have always been hooked since ‘95 playing Tekken 1 on PlayStation, then so many arcade plays of Tekken 2, and Tekken 3 for Christmas in ‘98 was all I begged for… I have played every one of these (except the card game). Glad you covered this series. You should go back and dive into the story for the fun of it! Lol
Btw for those that don't know, u need to know that hiyachi threw kazuya off a cliff as a kid, kazuyas story where has him throw he's dad off a cliff hahah, revenge and that smile hahahaha
I love Tekken 4. it was my first Tekken ever, and it still feels rare. It misses all these extraordinary Characters like Jack, Devil, Devil Jin ... It feels more "realistic". The Environment is real, it isn't just Background you are really there. This Tekken has many things, that are only in Tekken 4. I always wonder why Tekken 4 is so different. Also the Health Bars are really different in Style compared to any other Tekken Game.
I remember playing Tekken 3 for the first time when I was around 5-6, off a Playstation Underground demo disk. This was honestly where my love for video games bloomed, I was in awe. Now my Tekken collection is the biggest from all my other gaming collections and because of you I was able to expand it by ordering myself a copy of Tekken Card Challenge haha. I was surprised I never heard of it or the WonderSwan handheld system until today.
Great video Niosai ^^ ! Just found out about your channel and im loving every minute of it If it's possible, I'd love to see you tackle the Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct series
You don't need to be able to Korean backdash to understand the backwards movement and how to use it to make this video. It's really awesome to see new players taking a dive on the series , specially on the entertainment side of the games. Cool video !
tbh, my favourite Tekken is Tekken 5. It's probably because I have too much nostalgia for it because it was one of the first games I ever played. I still couldn't beat the Devil Within tho 🤣
I love this video. Thanks for posting it. I grew up with Tekken and it is an all time fav of mine. I think Tekken Tag Tournament is my favorite. I always liked playing that one.
I know everyone shits on tag 2 but man is my favourite in the series.and i know pros complained about it being unballanced, but for me as an casual fighting game player and a big tekken fan this is a superb game: huge rooster, fun gameplay,music,stages...everything is just superb!
Tekken 5 is my most favorite just because of the devil within mode I've played that game mode so many times I probably played it even more than the base Tech and 5 game itself I absolutely love The devil within mode I just wish they brought it back.
Tekken Card Tournament did come back, as a mobile game. Unfortunately it didn't last very long but it had physical cards you could buy for it to add into the game or play in person. I miss it dearly.
It still fascinates me how a cross between two of the greatest IPs in fighting games didn't work.Bandai namco even cancelled tekken x street fighter which was in development for quite a while. Also Akuma being in T7 pretty much confirms that the tekken and SF universe are interlinked somehow.(I don't know exactly how, possibly the multiverse). So there is a high possibility some tekken guest characters might come in SF6
I liked watching this. I grew up playing fighting games on the PS2 (specifically Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Soulcalibur 3) and I only played Tekken three times on the PS2 and a LOT of times on arcades. In fact, Tekken is one of the most popular arcade fighting games in Greece.
The Kazuya Tekken 1 ending may very well be the best fighting game ending may be the best way to start off any fighting game storyline ever. That smirk... What could make a man happier?
#4 & 5 definitely the most goated games of the series, from soundtrack to graphics and story. Very privileged to have been raised in arcades and having a PS2
I just played Tekken 3 (on PSP) and unlocked everyone up to True Ogre in one session. I feel like it's more fun to play Tekken 5DR - though that one is nice too. But every fighter in T3 feels well-built. The next addictive title for me would be Tag Tournament 2. Really beafy and rich gameplay. I missed this feeling.
I really enjoyed watching your video as a Tekken fan myself, and even I had never heard of Death by Degrees before watching this! Definitely subbed! 👍😎😄
Tekken was awesome from PS1 to PS2. We ain't needed all that Rage Art shirt or Power Crush, or to juggle to a wall, we were free! For me, true Tekken was on Sony consoles, I might sound old, but at that time, each Tekken game was a must-have on their respective console. Don't you remember the orgasm when: _You don't know who to choose or you wanted to improve your skill with anyone, so you picked Mokujin? _You mastered your favourite fighter in Time Attack or Survival? _You had to unlock all the "❔" slots by playing the game, and not by purchasing them online like a lazy/rich bum? _All characters, or at least some of them, had their own stages, with legendary soundtracks? _When all the stages, or at least some of them, were infinite? Juggle as you want, flee as you want, explore that 3D open-world fighting game? I played EVERY Tekken game, and the only time I had pleasure on it, was from 1 to 5, canonical or not. Everything else was an insult to my face, a loss of time and money
I started with tekken 5 so long fucking time ago. I remember that for a whole summer my scedule was waking up> power on my ps2> play tekken 5> sleep. I played the shit out of Asuka and Steve Fox. I even bought Asuka third alternative costume. Also Tekken 5 was the game made me start martial arts. (especially kickboxing and Muay thai) so tekken 5 is the best and for me will be the best fighting game
@@Niosai Also you didnt notice but there was another feature in Tag 2 which was "Tag Assault" I think or whatever, its where both of your characters team up to kinda do a combo at the same time. And also in tekken 7 there's a feature called rage drive, which is just like rage art, but you can continue the combo and adds like a fun gimmick to the characters.
Tekken 5 was my first Tekken game and I absolutely love it. I remember playing it with my dad when I was very young, and seeing gameplay of 5 and comparing it to 7, kinda hits me with a sense of "damn, I'm starting to get old", and I'm not sure how to feel about that lmao
Tekken 4 is very underrated. It’s not perfect, such as easily getting cheap shotted into walls, but it’s changes are almost exclusively good ones. The clearer storytelling and great graphics are just the icing on the cake.
