I should imagine there are people out there who have watched this video and assumed the latency was introduced by using HDZero, when in actual fact, it's due to the digital to analogue conversion in that little magic box, added to the latency on DJI's analogue input. I feel this should have been made clear in the video...

I wondered about this, so it's cool to see that someone went through the hassle of finding out. I sold my dji stuff and got 04Xs recently, and pre ordered HdZ. I gotta say, I wish i had started with the skyzone goggles.

This is still perfectly acceptable for my long range wings. swapped over to dji recently and its been a life changer and actually got me back into flying planes and quads again. But sometimes that dji range limit still becomes an issue, although its still mighty impressive. This would mean i can still kit out a long range setup with hdzero gear. Just need some cheaper hdzero VRX/VTX

one year later . is it good idea to wire the hdmi from the hdzero to the new hdmi board (instead of the cam) on the dji air unit 😅 this would work as rang extender also . 😂😅 it's funny experiment to do

Is it the RU-vid compression or is the DVR from DJI sharper? I like the colour/saturation of DJI DVR. May be it is just a setting.

Compression. DVR and video feed on DJI was worse

There are things like retro scaler that offer zero latency at 576p. I know thats far from 1080p but 720p would be an acceptable trade off even if the latency was an additional 10ms or so. Just seems like nobody wants to make the adapter. I'd be willing to pay $50+ for a 720p version with low latency as it would allow me to run a single set of goggles.

Does this work with V1 google ? The only input I see on the google seems to be a mic input? Also any chance that this could be used to spectate a flight in using DJI google while the pilot is using HDzero ?

That is not a mic input, but an analog input. Yes, works with the V1 Goggle, however the video kind of shows that you dont really want to do it. Yes that could work to spectate HDZERO with the DJI Goggles using this, but it would be a bit of a work around to make it happen.

If I change my throttle settings in my goggles would that work on every quad?

No, because what you change through the goggles sends a signal to the flight controller of your drone. So the changes only apply to that drone.

I guess I am just confused. It still looks better than analog and the guy is clearly flying very fast successfully. Why is this not a good option for people with the dji goggles? It looks great.

You have a Pro Class racing pilot flying, he can make a stick with motors look good. The latency is too much for FPV which is the issue

@@andyhoughtaling6319 because it’s going through the AV In, the typical DJI variable latency doesn’t happen. What causes the latency is the AV box which converts the HDMI to analog, and it measures around +100ms, while HDZero natively is 6ms and DJI is 25ms

You’ve completely missed the point. This isn’t Analog on DJI goggles. The Digital to Analog converter is what adds the latency. The latency isn’t added in the DJI goggles.

Hd zero is a shit now compared to Dji. Maybe 1 or 2 years later it will have the same or better quality but not now. Penetration test shows the main difference, but the overall quality is also nowhere to Dji. Sorry.

To give you some perspective, DJI can’t match HDZero for glass to glass latency, which is what HDZero is designed for.. you are comparing a sports car to a luxury car. Different purposes all together.
