Actually yes GoPro with ReelSteady way to go…. If your going this route it is hard to get rid of those vibrations given the size of the wheels

Try stabilizing that footage with the gyro data in catalyst browse. I think it could look even a lot better. Amazing video btw!

completely unusable footage, but i love the journey of experimentation and discovery. Better suspension on the rc car and an optically stabilized lens would help a lot though. Anything more performant will require Z axis smoothing like a spring arm. Great video.

Widened out his way, the wheels are so much in disbalance. That causes a huge vibration even without the offroad :)

I use a device that I 3d printed that removes z axis bounce that would be great for this. Amazon also makes one for the Osmo Pocket for a reference. I reviewed these devices and work very well. they use what looks like a automobile control arm with a spring. Very fun video loved your idea.

Very nice. Especially that you DIY’d a solution that works fairly well and even better with some additional tweaking .. Pro built RC vehicle platforms for serious camera rigs cost upwards of $3500 (US) ! B&H sell them but I think it’s more rewarding to build it yourself

That is Epic! Would love to try shooting at a higher shutter speed and then add some stabilization afterwards. More like how the action cameras do it. shooting at 120fps 4k, 1/500 or higher shutter speed and going full speed on the rc car, Playback at preferred framerate and motionblur added in software if needed. Great video as always :) Would love to see more of this project

True, we tested and just crank the shutter speed WAY up and stabilize with gyro data. Add some motion blur. Done.

my thoughts are you need a 2 stage shocks/suspension setup: 1 adjustable tensioned firmer stabilizer attached to the gimbal, and a 2nd more looser foam/dampening base attached to the car

Using an r5 with IBIS, a 16-35mm 2.8 is at 16mm, some lens stabilisation and some stabilisation in post would have looked wayyy better

NICE! Seen and driven a couple of camera rigs in the past. Very cool stuff. Love the build. Seen a few "wire" suspension builds do the trick too. I still feel the "action cameras" with stabilization do the "mounted to an RC car" job a little better but great stuff regardless.

looks nice but too much work.. Just use one small gopro with hyper smoth stability and have no shaking effect. No problems with overweight, braking it etc. I have an DSLR... i really can't watch how it was dirty after this trip.. DSLR are not action cameras they are made for making awesome quality photos, and nice smooth movies.

Why didn't you use the same shock absorber springs in a V-formation to dampen shocks across the tilt and pan axes? It would have probably been a simpler build. Great video though! I suggest maybe keeping the previous configuration and adding the ability to raise and lower the camera, so that it can get closer to the ground. Can't wait to see your next version.

You should try to suspend the gimbal with some elastic cord. Like how they suspend microphones with shock mounts to remove micro-jitters. In the end all the vibrations will be absorbed by the elastic cord. I should work if you suspend the handle between two of these shock mounts.

It was so fun to watch. I made similar but for motorbike, attaching to a custom waist and shoulder belt. I am using a6600 with sigma 16mm and zhiyun weebill s. The footage are useable but not very smooth on rough surface.

there is something called " rubber vibration absorber",I think if you use them it will be much better, they are the best to use for vibration absorption

Still amazes me that DJI never brought out a z-axis stabiliser for this gimbal. They did it for the old Osmo and it worked amazing!

3 things , 1 In English its hose clamp if you were curious.. 2 on freestyle drones we use flight controllers that log gyro data. Then in post you can apply that data to the video and stabilize it after the fact. Most of the flight controllers will work with rx cars as well. Just a thought for v3 😁. 3 awesome video, keep them coming

This will only make sense with a komodo since the jitter from the wheels make the shutter readout go jskfjaralrlajsljablajbljalrhasfasfla which might not be salvagable even with catalyst or warp

I put camera's on rc cars all the time have one internally mounted another externally mounted I'm working on one now to move with the car as it turns suspension isn't the answer it's conter balance is the best solution I've found love your channel huge fan 👊👍💯

Since you are using Sony Cameras, cant you use the Gyro Data and actually stabilise it in Catalyst Browse after Recording? It should be rocksolid then.

Cool - You need to mount a Panasonic or Olympus camera on there - Class-leading stabilisation. It should help a lot.

Use a gopro 8.9.10. Instago2. 360 cameras. Simple mount bar. Thats about it. If its for cinematic videos well ok. Nice rig. But make it so the person can see it through the camera and remotely

cool project. but, the microvibrations are steel there. they are better solutions. and you rc car is not progressiv, change the radio and put a esc programmable in speed, breaks, to be smooth no matter all programmed in the electronics.. so your car are much progressive and controlable... you have to change the base, the rc car, they are some solutions with shock absorber liike 1000% better (a crawler for example, dual suspension, etc.). and the suspesion on this cars are sooooooooo smooth shure no vibrations with the right car. ((this is my opinion, and ideas because I thought of making one precisely, and the "crawler" buggy are really very soft, and more progressive .. what I mean is that in programming the 'ESC, there would have been no wrong move ...)

bigger diameter wheels. not so wide on tyre, try widening the axels. the cable gauge is too stiff still..try smaller

The design is all wrong, you need to understand more about RCs than knowing about your video equipment. Listen to other comments below. Instead of using steel wires, replace it with softer oil dampening rc shocks, on the steel mounting plate.

the suspension of the RC car is not designed for the extra weight of gimble and camera. Plus with wired suspension you made there is no damper. Try to add something beneath wires which will damp its oscillations. That might give better results/

The added wheels seem to add a lot of the wobble. Footage would probably be stellar with gopro10 and reelsteady but I know that's not the point of this whole contraption. Looks and seems fun so I'm for it!

A lead plate above the wires should give an improvement. More weight in the camera-gibambal-system should result in less vibration.

Sick build. Looks like some kind of cop robot sent into hot scenes. Now that I mentioned it. Why not add a speaker with a voice of a count down and send it into the grocery store.
