I Quit My Job To Do YouTube Full-Time 

Edit: something I didn't mention in this video, I have other income streams (workshops & speaking) which helped me make this decision. However, with these things I do not need to show up each day, and therefore will have more time to create videos.

Hi, I stumbled across your channel when I was putting together my own ‘run 5k every day for 30 days’ video. I’m new to RU-vid to and don’t worry about being 38 and having to start again. Dear Laura, you found a style that got you noticed by serious partners/sponsors, and continuously seek out new things to present. The 'bad hair' comment was so elaborate, it made me think that some viewers might be under the influence of substances at the time of writing. Thankfully, most are genuinely interested! I totally get you. I've been thinking the past month or so how much I want to do and wanted to do and now I'm 60 years old working 40 hours a week with little time left to do what I really like to do which is art and things that I've collected physically and mentally to get back to eventually. Now I've started calling through all the things and tossing out the ideas that I know aren't going to come to fruition. Kudos to you for taking the leap. I'm trying to get up the nerve to leave my job and devote time to what I'd love to do. Hope your journey takes you where you want to go. I really enjoy your videos.

just found you Laura! To anyone thinking like this, it’s never too late. I worked as an under-paid, over-worked, over-qualified teaching assistant for years. Loved the kids, some horrible staff and parents. I was always tired and sick. Wasn’t using my degree. Started tutoring after school, was making equal to TA (laughable) pay within six months. Left after being unsupported by the toss pot I worked ‘for’.. I’ve never looked back. Started making and selling my teaching resources online. I can now earn in two days what I earned in a month. I’m 64, did it at 55. If you can do it, do it. Try and start something on the side first. It’s difficult to think and be creative when someone is using all your energy. Walk away and see how your mind opens to ideas. It’s life changing. Don’t be that good for anyone else. Good luck Laura and thanks for all the info on diet, which I’m going to follow.

Thx for making this video I just chose to leave my job of 17 years because they were going to lay me off in 3 months so I decide to take my severance pay and leave now because I have been doing RU-vid for 3 years and I’m ready to go all in. I only have 2k Subs on my channel called random reg tv. I was half doing RU-vid so now I have go Full time I am nervous too but I feel better after watching your video cuz I see you have 41k subs in only 7 months so thx again much more success to you .

LT, I am a recent subscriber and not really sure how the algorithm sent me your way :) Your message in every video I have watched has always been very personal and sincere. It reminds me of Abbie Barnes in a way. Anyhow, my message to you is that as long as you feel you have made the right choice and done your homework (so to speak) then there is no need to be apprehensive. Your track record speaks for itself and your ability to make wonderful things happen. I recently retired from the military reserves and quit my day job. Many people thought I was crazy or maybe just foolish. Yet within a few days I found things to keep me busy in a meaningful way. I don't have a lot of money, but I don't need or use a lot of money. So it is all about your lifestyle and what you "need" as opposed to what other people assume you need. I have watched many of your videos since you made this (as I seem to be watching them in no particular order...) and I look forward to next April when you give us your thoughts on this life change. I have closely watched two RU-vid channels from their inception: Cruising The Cut and Adventures of an Old Seadog. While the content speaks volumes to me, they aren't the only RU-vidrs making these type of videos. I watch their videos because of their personalities, their passion for what they do and, well, the fact they don't try to be anything special or authoritative in their field - they simply enjoy what they do and bring us along for the ride. That RU-vid video producer and RU-vid video watcher relationship is key (IMO). Training, ice baths (and now barefoot shenanigans!) and the like are things that I also follow so your content is already of interest and, like the two examples above, you have that human touch and likability from the off. Build your base slowly (not sure you'll have much control over that actually), stay true to your passions and content and enjoy the journey. If you're enjoying it then so will we. I'm 52 and still embarking on wild adventures and trying new things so at 38 you've plenty of time ahead of you 😊👍🏼. Out of interest, why a year and what what is the goal or factor that will help your decision to continue or quit: number of subscribers, amount of income, whether you like it or not? Keen to see where this goes so you now have another subscriber. Good luck.
