For some reason, everyone expects you to have your life perfectly laid out when you're 30 and that's not the reality for most people now. At 30 years old, I decided to quit my six figure law firm job and abandon the plan that society likes to lay out for your life. And with that decision, I've learned some important life lessons... so let's talk about them, starting with lesson 1: you're on nobody's time but your own.

You're not alone, at 30 I went to visit my parents and my dad told me he's so disappointed in me(not married, no stable career, total failure in he's eyes) that he wished he could produce another child to replace me 😄 I made 31 few days ago, I still don't have anything figured out but I'm a believer knowing everyone's timing is different, and all will be well. I will keep following your channel.

I was born when my dad was 33 and recently I turned 33, jokingly I said to him that I was a failure because I don't have kids, a house or a car like he did at my age, hi told me that I have achieved so much more (I have a degree in CS, a stable job, speak 4 languages and I'm finishing my second year in Anthropology). Also he once told me that I have a nice life, I go out with friends, have hobbies that enrich me intellectually as well as relaxing. Everytime I see this type of videos I appreciate even more how my parents raised me and don't judge me.

You’re not alone. I’m 30 and was making over 100K as an executive assistant in the bay area. I recently lost my job, was behind on bills, stressed the hell out. God recently gave me a job as a security to keep things that float but it’s nowhere near the money I’m used to making. I felt like a failure, especially after watching a lot of my friends successes. That feeling has thankfully surpassed, although I do have moments of doubt or when I’m just hard on myself. Ive decided I’m about to enroll in the Air Force, with the hopes of pursuing a nursing career, and eventually a CRNA career. We have to remember that, although we may be 30 we’re still young …REALLY young. We have our whole lives ahead of us. And everyone’s path to success and happiness is unique and special to them. Let’s all enjoy this crazy journey we call life. Great video enjoyed it!

I’m 25 and I hear sooo many people in their 30’s that just become wiser and are now figuring out their lives. Society pressures us to have this cookie cutter life from the age of 18 and having to know what career you want, if you’ve met your soul mate, etc. I also have immigrated parents and definitely feel the pressure of being “successful “ professionally. But the truth is I’ve changed my mind like 3 time in the past 5 years and I’m just trying to figure out life as I go! Awesome video ❤

Girl I’m 28, first child of immigrant parents and left my 6 figure medical job, might have to move back in with my mom in a few months, and just recently went on the worst date of my entire life so no prospects for marriage or kids anytime soon LOL! We are living the same life, I was more depressed and anxious at that job than ever before. This is a crazy transitional period for me as I explore new career paths and get to know myself and God even deeper, but I know it’ll be a beautiful journey full of lessons. You are still young. I got married at 19 and still is. I am 39 years old now and wish I had waited until I was 25 or 30 to do so. Furthermore, I regret getting married young and giving up my life to become a wife to what I learned now to be a Christian narcissist. Likewise, I didn’t know what I was getting into because I was raised sheltered all my life, so wasn’t aware of the dangers. Don’t be bad for not having those things because you accomplished more than many people older than you. Be proud of the blessings you have achieved in your life.

But if you look around you, look at the ppl working in the places we all shop & eat daily etc, you realize some people at 37, 40, even 50 do not have this life shit “all figured out”. All in stride. Run your own race Great vid appreciate you sharing ✌🏾

Been there. I had to quit because I was having panic attacks. Then I felt like shit for quitting and having no job. Then when I got a new job I felt even more anxious that I made the wrong decision. It wasn’t until I learned how to disconnect from my job and just view it was a paycheck that things changed.

OMG you sound like me right now. Been at my full time job for 11 months and am starting to not give af anymore. I hate coming home from work after an 8.5 hour Mon-Fri workday and not having any time/energy for my own goals and projects outside of work. I feel bad though because a couple of my co workers put so much effort into training me and getting me acclimated with how they do things. I feel like I'd be kicking them in the face by quitting now.

THANK YOU FOR THIS. I feel so seen. I just turned 26 and resonate with everything you said. I left my last company for the same reasons. I was getting so sick all the time, crazy headaches, anxiety attacks, not wanting to do anything after work, fell off building my community and side hustles because I never had any energy. I was always irritable and mean to loved ones, I just wasn't myself and I hated how much I left this job take over my wellbeing. I decided in July 2022 that I know I couldn't stay and by June 2023 I had given my notice. It wasn't easy and I missed the steady paycheque but no job is ever worth your peace and overall wellbeing! Congrats to you and I hope we both can find better, more aligned opportunities!!!

Also I think forgiving ourselves for any any past mistakes or time we think we’ve wasted. Otherwise we will sabotage ourselves. a lot can change in 6 months/1 year when you focus on being present, meditate, read books, exercise, journal, connect with nature communicate with God. Imagine your passion as the core of an orange and every step in your journey your peeling a new layer of the orange until you reach its core.

Videos like yours are so important. I have had conversations like this since the beginning of the Covid lockdown, I knew that some people were going to reflect on the type of work they do and the life they lead. For me, as an immigrant, I feel like the work culture in the US is toxic so I managed to find ways early on in my career to have my own healthy balance (I'm a licensed social worker) such as taking my sick days for rest/self-care, always taking my vacation days, taking unpaid days if I feel not in the mood and also quitting any role that may not be good for me. I just gave myself three months of a sabbatical as I needed it so I applaud you for choosing You over a Job. You're young, you'll figure it out. My own advice to anyone reading this: Live within your means, save as much as you and go out there and Live!

Hi girl, I am 24 years old and in the beginning of october, I moved to Chicago from SD for my 100,00+ job. (same job, but travel work in Chicago). Long story short, I realized I was NOT happy. It was contract work, yes it was good money but the position I had in SD was only 60 hrs a week compared to 84 in Chi. I betrayed my health and hapiness for a job far away from my friends and family, and it took its toll on me. So I just quit. Bought a flight back home, came back to the room in house I was still paying rent for, and have been unemployed. But, there is always the rainbow after the storm. You will figure it out, and I believe we will be okay. I took this time to deep dive into myself, realized I wanted to switch careers, and now attending school full time. I wont make 6 figs for a while out into the future because of school, but thats okay. I am happy and feeling better, sometimes it takes events in life such as losing your current life as you know it to find yourself and grounding again. Sending good vibes and a hug, everything will be okay, and do what makes YOU happy!

That's how I felt when I became a corporate trainer. The role literally fell into my lap and at first I appreciated the challenge - created a curriculum/presentation from scratch, had to adjust to rapid/sudden changes and educate on them, had to be "ON" for the full shift while facilitating training with no assistant. Whenever I got off, I was depleted.. THEN it didn't help that I was going through relationship issues so things got depressive for me and I still had to wear a mask bc Training must go on. I left back in May and working at a job that doesn't pay half as much but so much at peace mentally.

Wow… it felt like you were directly speaking with me. I withdrew from my graduate program in September and felt this feeling of grief and loss. I spent most of my 20s doing academics and trying to make my mom proud because she gave me the entire world with what little she had. Now here I am working at a job that sucks my soul out of me everyday. I literally feel the exact same way you did, the dread, the devastation, the not looking forward to coming back. But since leaving the program, I’ve learned that life isn’t all about school and trying to make others happy. It’s not about trying to have the best salary or trying to be the best employee when you know you can be replaced in a heartbeat. I am scared of my leap of faith, but deep down in my spirit, something is telling me to leave this job. To go forward and to do the next best thing. My hope right now is to get into a CNA program next year. The end goal is to become a travel RN and go all around the US (and eventually world) and just live the life I’ve been wanting to live. Thank you for this great video. I hope you continue to thrive and glow on this beautiful journey we call life 💕

I don’t usually comment, but I just wanted to say how grateful I am to have just stumbled across your video. I’m a college student turning 20 in two days, and thinking about that has stressed me out so much over the last year. In my head, turning 20 meant that I have to be a “real” adult and have everything figured out. Seeing my cousins getting married young and beginning promising careers doesn’t help. I feel like I’m falling behind because I don’t really know what I want. But hearing you talk about your experiences and reading about the paths of so many others in the comments reminded me that there is no “one size fits all” format for life. We’re all figuring things out as we go, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

I'm in front of such a decision as well. At 35, I'm thinking of quitting my job by mid 2024 and going on a 3-month, unadulterated "discovery trip" to find myself. Something that I don't think I've ever been given the chance to since my early 20's. I've been grinding for student loans (which I've paid off recently) and am making 6-figures... but now, for what am I doing this grind for exactly? I don't think I've convinced myself of this plan of attack yet. About 8 months more to figure it out. But if nothing else, I definitely am hearing God's knocking loud and clear.

Thank you for sharing your story. I am from Puerto Rico as well, professional corporate America senior leader and your story is very relatable. I like to watch other people stories. As a Puerto Rican and USA citizens, the people of Puerto Rico can move throughout the 50 states just as any other Americans can-legally, this is considered internal migration, not immigration. Just a small clarification. I won't love to learn more about your personal journey. Saludos and Bendiciones, Yana.

This is literally SOO WELL PUT! I truly feel that people just do not get it. If you ‘have it good’ in any way shape or form, its so easy/too easy for family friends etc to assume that “you should be happy you have _____ going for you” it’s so very true how much something like that can literally strip you of all you are and want to be. Love this!❤

I resonate with you 100%. I was actually so done with the job for almost like 10 months, was about to quit in the beginning of the year bc I was also relocating to be with my bf. They offered to keep me as remote worker without changes in salary (normally for non-remote work), so I kept it. Work wasn't too stressful but I was NOT fulfilled, so decided give 2weeks. I did buy my own house though this year when I turned 30, but thinking about paying the mortgage over 30 years really makes me stressed out when I hit the pillow every night. Anyhow, we are all trying to fake it until making it.

I just quit my music education job a few weeks ago and I had these same feelings! I am 25 but the pressure is still on to have my life together. I’m tired of working to meet the expectations of others. I prayed and fasted before leaving and God gave me clear and direct signs that it was time to go. The job got chaotic and work life balance didn’t exist so I left. I’m glad I followed The Lord’s path. I am still working to create the life of my dreams, but I have more peace and joy than I’ve had in years. 💜

I'm a 30 year old latina too and I don't mean to sound controversial but I literally do not care that my parents immigrated here. I don't have or want kids, they chose this life. I didn't. I am sure you want/wanted a different life too. It's not our fault the job environment in the US and the current issues for the workforce is happening, we are not stronger than the economy lol All I know is, I see exactly why people disappear for months to a year to go backpacking because omg I don't think I would've tolerated working my office job anymore.

It’s always good to leave a job as long as you plan it out and don’t let it drag out too long. I left mine after a while longer than I should have. Doing something else now that’s much better and allows me to pursue some other business ventures. You seem like an intelligent person. Good luck ❤

You're not alone, girl! I'm an immigrant and I worked in a place for a year that literally drained all my energy. I hated the job but I was new in the country, new in the society, and I wanted my money and to begin being part of the nyc life. But I got to a point where I was mad and sad all the time. And like you say, you stop even doing the things that you like because of how bad you feel about your job. So I decided to quit. Now I'm struggling to find a new job and thank God that my husband has a good job, but when I think about my decision I still think it was for the better, even if right now I'm unemployed. I know something is gonna come and it's gonna be better!

Love the content. I salute the millennials. You're fearless, bold and revolutionary. You should be proud of yourselves. Us Gen Xers are the middle children between generations. Our only options were college or a dead end job. Our spirits wanted more but we didn't have the tools like present times. We do now. I think 20 and 30 somethings have changed and shifted the worker bee system and it'll be remembered in history. I'm taking notes mi amiga. Peace. P.o.p.

College and dead-end jobs are not the only options available to you. You could start your own business, or go into the military and fight for your country, or go into a career requiring certification and not a degree such as HVAC or welding or electrical or carpentry or any of the other many trade industries out there in the world. Jeez, man, it’s not so bad. Get out there and make something of yourself.

Thank you for sharing your experience and story! I’m 30 as well and last year I worked in a very similar position as you but as a graphic designer for a legal consulting firm. I too was behaving the same way as you. Mentally exhausted from the long hours, working long weekends and holidays and to top it off with traveling for month long work trips. I have to quit because I as well as emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted. I got sick out of nowhere towards the end of me working there. Eventually I quit and had to take a full year off in order to get myself back into the right mindset. I grateful that my relationship with God and my parents are where they were because I wouldn’t know what I would have done without them. I’m not currently employed and looking for work but I’m not stressing because I know that what’s for me is for me. I hope that you find exactly what you’re looking in your journey. 😊

Been seeing a lot of “quitting job” videos on my feed and I haven’t even been searching them so God must be preparing me to exit the horrible job I work at now. God bless you though. Idc what anybody says to quit your job with no plan but have faith God will steer you in the direction you want to be in is so powerful. You’re stronger than most people. We tend to just accept what we have as the end goal. I work with so many people that complain about hating the job and life but don’t want to do anything about it. That energy is so poisonous that I realized that I need to get out of there. Praying that my next step changes my environment and the people in it.

I'm in the process of preparing for a sabbatical because I'm bored in a career, I started at the age of 22. During my sabbatical my goal is to learn Spanish, write a book, and become free mentally from the daily work grind I've been doing in the last 13 years. People think I'm crazy for my decision, but I feel at peace knowing this is the perfect time in life to do such a thing.

I change everything in life and live on my own....no tv, social media, material things anymore and have so much strength, peace, power, happyness, freedom and time.... Happyness starts imside you and people are programmed robot slaves of the system working from 9-5 thinking that happyness starts with extern factors like status, money, material things that means nothing and its relativ and an illusion create by society..... If your happyness depend on extern factors you will never be because extern factors are endless. The more people around you, the more expectations, talk about others, lying, frustrations, negativity, jealousy, double standards, violent, sneakyness, hate etc..... reflection of their broken souls in this dark broken world.
