Social media is toxic as heck for your mental health and you become an unproductive zombie because of it. But I've noticed that trying to run a RU-vid channel (or becoming an "influencer" *barf*) is multitudes worse than just being on social media. When you run a RU-vid channel you are always looking to please the audience and the algorithm. If you work hard on a video, and don't get the results you expected, it takes a toll on your mental health because you begin to feel like you are not good enough. And it's such a negative feedback loop too because if you try to take a break, the platform punishes you by not showing your content to the viewers that bring you the ad revenue. I've been creating RU-vid videos for 2 years now and it definitely takes a strong person to stay on track. Props to you for taking the time off that you needed.

Sadly yes if you really want to get your content out there you have to be as active as possible

I did this several months ago (quit cold turkey for 30 days). I experienced a lot of the benefits that you did. Since then, I just got back into the bad habits. I am now trying to slowly wean myself to make more of a lasting impact! It is so hard when you are a content creator though :(

Social media detoxes are the best. I am kinda still on mine…. I still have my social media accounts but removed all the apps from my phone years ago for wellness reasons. It has been the best thing I have ever done. I even made my instagram for my interest and kept facebook for my friends or family. Its not as accessible and I was able to pick up a book or do something that brings me joy besides scrolling through my phone. I feel it just brought me so much time and clarity in life. Thank you for the great videos!

I learned that fomo definitely changed lol and honestly some days I don’t even want to go out, but I’ll see people on social media and then I’m like maybe I should. So it helped with sticking with what I wanted to do

I was thinking about opening a RU-vid rehab actually because many sectors are very toxic. I’m sure you enjoyed your time away with no pressure to do a video

Been off since November 2022 and its been great! Every once in a while I have an itch to go on but I know there’s nothing of substance on SM.

During Covid, I did 18 months NO social media, and it was the best thing I did for my mental health while I was dealing with this new virus at work. I had so much time and enjoyed nature. Now i do 1 week off from time to time and 1 day a week off (Sundays preferably). I am going to start doing 2-3 days off, even from RU-vid. Also, condensing how many social media platforms one may have can help - I only use Instagram & RU-vid & WhatsApp(for family). I did a new instagram and now I follow purposeful pages. Social media shows a fake consumer platform & can consume alot of your time if you have no control.

Sis that is so true about being so stuck that you end up on somebody page you don't even know! Life feels much more at peace when you don't have social media to worry about. SN# I have been following your channel for quite a while, when you were still in nursing school and I just want to say that you really inspire me to push. Thank you for being real and consistent. 🤎
