"A regular cat might meow to get what they want; a bengal cat is going to yowl like someone is trying to kill them." -- truer words were never spoken 🤣🤣😂
Very good video. I have a 1.5 year old male Bengal Cat and I can relate to really everything you said. He is a big trouble maker, but the cutest and most affectionate cat I have ever had in 30 years of owning normal house cats. In my opinion Bengals are less aggressive than other breeds. They are just active and playful, which is often mistaken as being aggressive. When we have small kids over, my Bengal shows the most patients with them I have ever seen a cat showing. He doesnt react at all when his tail is being pulled or he gets hit accidently. There is nothing of these things that make him mad or attack. On the other side, he sometimes starts to bite when I pet him. But it is clearly only playing. He starts to carefully take my hand and bites very softly and looks at me like: "Is that ok for you, I really want to do that, but I dont want to hurt you." When I tell him to stop, he stopps right away and starts to lick me, like he is really sorry hurting me. After like 2 minutes he starts to bite very softly again. That is really hilarious. The intelligence and the way Bengal interact with us humans is so much different to normal cats. I wouldn't change him for anything, even though he is a lot of work and I spend way too much money for toys, which he ruins after just a few minutes.
This video is very accurate, I have a 7 month old Bengal Tyson, and he truly just wants to play. I redirect him and we work on tricks, he's an amazing animal. I live in a small apartment and also got an excercise wheel as well as lots to climb on. The most magnificent animal I've ever had!
@@tysonthebengalcat7769 hi do you just keep him on his own or do you have other cats / dogs? Seriously thinking about getting one I also live in an apartment but have plenty of room. Interested to know how yours is if he lives alone? Thanks
Jam, mine is on his own, he's an only child lol. I reccomend getting one at a young age so you can train it in the way that best suits your living conditions. I looked into rehoming an older Bengal that had behavior issues and im glad I didn't simply because Tyson and I have built an incredible bond. I suggest getting an excercise wheel as well as plenty of stuff to climb on
@@tysonthebengalcat7769 thanks for the reply, I am glad to hear you are having no issues. They are amazing cats and you are very lucky to own one. Enjoy
I have a Bengal who was in several other homes before mine. It took her a long time to settle in. I think she was traumatized. But she is my little buddy now. I love her to pieces. She plays at night with my yellow tabby. They run through the house, up and over the furniture. She sits on the stool at the kitchen island and talks to me! Sleeps on my bed, loves “pats and purrs!”. So glad I got her. Who knows what might have happened, had I not taken her on.
Mine was the same - I got mine off my brothers family who just didn’t want her. It didn’t take long for her to settle. She’s just like a normal cat, but very vocal. She loves going outside and always comes screaming when she hear my keys in the door. Everyone comments on how beautiful she looks, she’s silver with black rosettes, and black underneath her feet.
My (rescue) Bengal. Came to me as an indoor cat. But she rapidly chose the outdoor life. She goes out when she likes (even walking on the roof of my house and my neighbours house). She likes to go for walks and even demands walks. She really really hates dogs and growls at them. She has no problems with other cats but will defend herself if she is attacked. A scratching post (heavy duty) is a must. And she does cuddle even curling up next to me on the bed sometimes. She is a real character.
Great video. I have 2 bengals a blue and a brown and they are very vocal about what they want. If they are raised with attention they will be in great shape.
I don't have a Bengal but I have a high energy cat with all the characteristics of a Bengal and I'm thinking about moving from a house to a smaller townhouse or apartment. Thanks for showing that your cats can be happy in a small space. Also, I don't think people really understand the importance of matching cats energy when getting two cats. We got a second cat as a playmate but he was so lazy and wouldn't play with our high energy one. Also because the new cat was more dominant our high energy cat wasn't getting the play he needed. We had to give the second cat to my partner's parents. I wish we fully understood that two cats should be the same energy before we adopted the second one. So important!
@@monsieurtn Since watching this first video I have been watching your videos every evening just because in this crazy world it's so nice to watch cats and I love the relaxing music. Reminds me of when I used to live in Asia. Thanks for the chill videos. It's a nice escape for a few minutes everyday!
Yes people!!! please do your research before you get Bengal cats I love cats and had cats before...my husband bought a bangal cat for my birthday and I have to say I was surprised how loudly meowing creature it is 😂and also how much energy it has so definitely do your research. Now we have a great relationship and routine but the beginning was kinda stressful 😅
My bengal is 6 months old....pray for me!!!! He's wide open 24/7. I have 2 miniature pinschers and a siamese so my house has turned into a race track. They love chasing each other.
We have a Bengal cat with a wonderful temperament. He plays outside all day if he wants and sleeps on every chair and bed! He loves his freedom and also seems to love being with us. He has great spurts of energy and rushes up trees to get our attention and scratches his nails on the trees. We trained him to travel in the car with his jacket on, hates dogs, likes other cats and will sit with us when we are typing for hours until meal time when he will sit on the keyboard to tell us to stop! He has an auto cat flap, a cat fountain and we have raised his food bowls to his chest height. We are his servants and accept this!!!
I have 2 Bengals. One 9 month male one 6 month female. The female is definitely more “bengal” than the male in terms of behavior. The most bengal thing Mr Beerus does is he is very vocal, mr demanding. Whether it be the sun is up human open my shades!! His favorite thing to do is bird watch out the window on his tree. But overall he is a very chill cat aside from his few bursts of energy through the day. The female however she is all up in everything 😂. I can’t open my fridge without her trying to jump inside to inspect, she is constantly wanting to play and seeking attention - she’s like a little Labrador and will play fetch with you all day long if you let her. She talks back. She plays in the bath. But overall these two kitties are so amazing. I love them so much ; my number one recommendation for potential bengal owners- TOYS! Play time - kitty puzzles, cat trees and if you can a wheel! Regardless, please play with your cats! I truly believe a lot of “bad behavior” could easily be solved if people just took time out of their day to help them exercise that energy out. Love my puppy cats ❤
I love bengals, my boyfriend has a bengal called Eartha and she is wonderful. When he lived in the country she would go outside all the time and hunt however since moving to town she’s become a house cat. She’s very happy. Although she is sometimes clumsy! She tried to leap from the balcony to the banister and fell down the stairs! And sometimes she doesn’t make the jump but mostly she’s just vocal and energetic !
Etienne, I inherited an 8-y/o Siberian named Randy. He’s a beautiful black, fluffy, green-eyed cat, and exceptionally intelligent. The problem is that when I got Randy, he was *already* an outdoor/indoor cat who LOVES hunting and bringing me “gifts.” He’s NOT the indoor, affectionate, companionate cat I dreamt of having (a blue-point Birman). I think my little house is too small for Randy. He’s too smart for most cat toys and is satisfied only with REAL prey. He eats A LOT, and uses the house as a place to eat and sleep, not to spend time with me. I can’t get a second cat--such as a Birman kitten--as Randy would kill him. Obviously, Randy doesn’t suit my lifestyle, but if I give him to a shelter, no one wants a 10 y/o cat, and they would kill him. I couldn’t bear that. What do you suggest? Si tu préfères à communiquer en français, ça va. J’ai habité à Paris pendant deux ans quand j’étais plus jeune. J’faisais des recherches à la Bibliothèque Nationale pour mon doctorat.
I took 4 month old bengal cat and i really wasn't prepared for it. I needed a cat quick since my older house cat was dead bored and me being at work so often. Well now i have this hyper active ball of energy climbing on everything and trying to reach everything she can see. She enjoys company but doesnt like to be on my lap
I have had my wee boy for two months. Got him at six weeks and you have made me so much more comfortable, everything makes sense now!! LOL!!! He has brought so much joy to my friends and family. Thank you for the video!!!
Easy way to tell is by the tail. Bengals have very muscular tails and if you push their tail they push back and actually can hold their tails fairly high. Normal cats tend to have weaker, almost floppy tails by comparison. The Bengal tail is unmistakably strong!
The same thing happened to me!! But I think he mixed Bengal. I've had many cats before, and could clearly see a different right away. Amazing cats, but definitely extra work.
After this video it explains why I see so many adolescent and adult Bengals up for adoption. To have the equivalence of a 2 year old toddler on a sugar high for the next 15 years or so is horrifying yet oddly rewarding at the same time to most Bengal parents.. Sadly I passed on 2 two year old show quality Bengals for $1000 for both because I could not see myself going through the toddler thing again but this time with 2 cats instead. So I then decided to look into the Abyssinian and Egyptian Mau breeds to find out that they are just as intense as the Bengals. I finally decided to get 2 Birman kittens and I will be picking them up in 5 weeks.
I have a cat who is half Bengal and the other half I don't remember. I recently bought a pure Bengal and your description fits both. Me, husband and granddaughter just love to sit there at watch them chase each other is a lot of action than Starwars, (we have 4 cats now). We live in a 2-bedroom apartment, open all the doors and just watch. WHAT A TREAT! My other 2 cats try to keep up, which is also funny. Cats may not be like a dog (I also love dogs), which is too much work at our age. Since we are retired, our cats are never left alone. May I suggest getting another cat to be a pal for the Bengal.
Thank you for the info and links. My bengal isn't super active but he gets quite bored and has been annoying my other cat more lately. I need to get some "catification" done to challenge his mind. I bookmarked your website and appreciate the product links there.
I don't have a Bengal Cat, but a 7 month old Orange Mackerel Tabby Rescue Kitten. He seems to have a lot of Bengal personality traits. Super high energy levels and extremely curious with everything.
our indoor cat was a rescue cat, aged 4. She was desperate to explore so we gradually introduced her to the garden. Now she is so ecstatic to be outside.
Way better to keep cats indoors in order to protect them from cars, predators and to protect other wildlife as hundreds of wild species go extinct due to people keeping their cats outside. Also on average cats that live outside live half as long as indoor cats due to cars and predators
I’m raising my Bengal in a one bedroom apt. I don’t own that wheel but I do live on the bottom level facing a big open field. I sit on the patio and watch her run back n forth until she is ready to come back inside.
@@monsieurtn seriously I'm glad to see how you caring them, I also thinking to make my room like yours coz now it's also my kittens room, just upload these caring and cuddling videos and I will share as much I can ❤️
Not sure he's a ToyGer; But not sandy colored Bengal; Has light Gray with the black strips, black pads under paws, striped vertical along the body and horizontal on the legs. Great temperament, loving, has an assertive not aggressive attitude, will fake bite no clawing. and very quite, has never hissed at us, even when we struggle with his harness. But he does have the emblem between the ears of a butterfly.. and a board noise, like a Tiger.. Great little Kitty named Tiger... Does have some traits of the Bengal; fast, gets board and gets into trouble... very stubborn and doesn't give up easily
Having owned a Bengal, I'll never have another. The easiest way to tell if my Bengal, Bailey, was awake is if she was vocalizing because if she was awake, she was "talking", non-stop... and I mean endlessly. I'd advise an English Shorthair, American Shorthair, Russian Blue, or a Maine Coon - if the shedding isn't a concern.
I live in A Small Studio Apartment I'm 61 Very Active Senior. I adopted a Tabby the Shelter Didn't Know She Was Tabby/Bengal. Shes A Great Fit for Me. Bengals Must Be Disciplined Correctly vs incorrectly. Mine is Quite Affectionate head butts me then Settles in for a Nap
Recently arrived from the WCF exhibition from Chelyabinsk on February 21, 22, 2021. We also filmed our Bengal cat Trishka. Come as a guest I will be grateful for the subscription.
Me waking up at 3am, cause my cat is going into the cupboards. I thought I had rats for the longest time.. nope just my bengal getting into the bread! If you live in a small apartment I would just suggest leash training your cat. My one cat loved to go to work with me and in car rides!
We adopt Bengals after their first adopters realized that they didn't know what they were getting into. Needless to say, we absolutely love, love, love them. You need to be patient, as has been documented in this video. This video is generally correct, however, every Bengal (and every other cat) is different and has a different personality. One of our boys is very cuddly and will jump into my lap frequently and sleep next to me at night. He doesn't mind being picked up. Our other boy doesn't like to be held but is such a sweet cat on his own terms. Yes, they are a handful but I couldn't imagine not having them in my life. So if you have a Bengal and it's driving you crazy, don't fret. We will gladly take yours off your hands ;-).
I recently was forced to move to an apartment. My one boy screams, yowls, howls almost incessantly now for 3 weeks! He is terribly unhappy. I play with them. I make toys. I constantly reassure. I have put up window balconies. I have made sure they have loads of cat cocoons to hide and sleep in. Still he yowls. 🤢
If you can he may need a friend, they do a a lot better in pairs and you’ll find the howling will decrease significantly. Also try adding the feliway calming spray into your home.
@@kcg5187 @Kc G Thanks for the suggestion. He does indeed have a friend. I have 2 Bengals and they have grown up together and been together for going on 12 years. Only my one is badly affected by this jail sentence (I see it like that for him), and the other one seems very happy to just be a couch potato! Much appreciate you taking the time to offer practical solutions though. The Feliway hormone spray is an EXCELLENT idea. I will certainly look for it here today still (Dubai)
In addition to the feliway, I would also recommend that no attention be given whenever he does howl. Don't even look at him. It might be very difficult, but it's very possible it's a trained response if he is given attention. Give him his regular play times (when he's quiet) and nothing when he's yelling. Latte had that problem in the beginning. Whenever he howls, I close the door and ignore him. He rarely does it anymore to get attention.
@@monsieurtn Thank you. The feliway will be delivered today, but there is always a chance that it won't work. If it doesn't I will try to ignore his howling. Thanks for the tip
Everything WAS fine with my bengal, but I’m going through an extremely stressful time and she has done nothing but increased my stress and aggravated me. I warn potential owners to consider the times when you simply CANNOT give your cat constant attention. It’s impossible to do these things every day because life happens sometimes. So even if your favorite Aunt Odessa passed away and you’re dealing with the grief and stress of this, your cat will still require the same amount of constant attention and you simply cannot give it to them because you are incapable of doing so. Imagine you have a new job or you’re moving. These cats require attention 24/7 regardless of life’s circumstances and rarely get tired. Your bengal will start to really annoy you to the point that you start to become enraged. When this happens, put them in another cat proof room with all their crap in there and close the door. Trust me, you are gonna have to do this regardless of your stress levels. My bengal does not respond to redirection or positive reinforcement. It’s great that it works for some people, but my cat is immune to it. The only thing that works is being stern with her and putting her in time out. Water guns work on her too. I know the cat community thinks that this is abuse, but I strongly disagree. Especially since she loves water. Loud noises seem to work too like this spray that makes a loud noise. Ssscat works well too. I even got a cat wheel and it doesn’t do anything. I really regret buying this cat.
I'm sorry but it sounds like you just did not do your research properly before adopting one. Bengal cats are known to be VERY devoted and loving towards their owner. When they don't sleep they will always want to be around you and meddle with anything you do. No wait...even when they're asleep they want to be near you! This is one trait why the breed is so loved by people. If that trait becomes a burden it means a Bengal is not the right cat for you. They're also extemely smart and can really manipulate and tease their owner in getting what they want. Especially, when they're bored or ignored. Positive reinforcement throigh treats works with almost any cat but with a Bengal you might have to repeat it a hundred times more because they have that naughty, challenging streak. My little snow monster was a tough nut to crack but eventually he started listening. He still has his moments, but hey that's what you get when you adopt this breed. I use the squirt gun very sparingly and only when my boy is in potential danger of hurting himself. There's thousands of articles on the web that explicity warn about the breed not suitable for beginners. So I seriously wonder why you chose a bengal after all.
I know what you mean about eye contact. Moe looks for eye cues to leap on my shoulder, hang out for awhile, and try to get a nose bite in. Doesn't matter whether I'm on the toilet or not.... He's also a thief.
Lots of people may prefer an older bengal? I think they become more sane with age. I just adopted an older Bengal, and my initial observation is his behavior seems very normal. It's the same social behavior as other cats I have had, except it seems impossible to pet him too much. When being social, he likes to circling back and forth, rubbing and purring. Then he walks a few feet away, rolls on his side, and purrs loudly. Eventually he will lie down next to me, purring and kneeding with his paws like an ordinary cat, with the caveat that I have to be touching him the whole time. If I then give him a pet, he jumps up and the whole social greating restarts from the beginning. But he isn't super energetic, as in running, jumping, and exploring, or atleast I haven't seen it yet.
That's true, they do mellow out with age. My Bengal is still quite energetic but definitely not as crazy as he was when he was a kitten. He's still as loud as ever though - he yells whenever he's bored. My Bengal requires me to be a lot more aware as I don't want him to develop any destructive habits.
How funny. I live in Korea too and my bengal is pregnant. Good thing my friend in Busan gave me a bunch of cat beds. Me and my husband are gonna need them! It’s Olivia btw 😹😹😹
No, Savannahs & Toygers are much, much more expensive! And Savannahs, while svelte, are very tall & don’t reach full maturity till age 5. Plus, you must be very experienced cat guardian & do research.
I love my cat but I would never recommend the breed to anyone. Many bengals get abused and neglected because owners don't know how to deal with them. It's very difficult to be honest. They require so much play and attention.
I have a 10 week old Bengal called Binky, she is a terror already! I feel like she is going to be hard work! My last cat Sylvester just wanted cuddles and to be fed. She is very high maintenance and fussy with food. She keeps trying to attack my hands I’m trying to teach her as she is so very young still but she is FULL of beans and still so young I’m worried
I am a slave to my bengal he is 7an half months I walk him every day for 4or 5 hours and when I walk him the way he meows almost sound louder than adog my bengal loves to be cuddle hear and there but loves to sleep with me I also love the sound he makes he is so smart that I also have a bunny who he loves and I can say is my bengal is like that annoying little brother I feel my bunny feels but I would never give him or up on him I couldn't see life with out him he wanted to challenge a racoon bc he saw other cats same color so he thinks there cats and bc of him I know all my neighbors now
I have a savannah, in an apartment...and he has so many toys that it feels like I have a toddler 😆 🤣 Funny difference between bengal zbd savannah...cuz my boy....ANYTHING new, even a new bowl for food..with his daily food inside..he is super suspicious xp
I wouldn't recommend a Bengal for an indoor lifestyle. I take my Bengals outside and run them, then I play ball with them. In addition, they have their cat door and can go hunt all night and return in the morning. They're not "Fluffy" next door! They require continuous stimulation and opportunity to act upon their natural instinct to hunt animals.
Just adopted ... A Bengal cat 😸...he's in a room for now till he's introduced to my other cat, I have noticed that he came from a home with 3 small boys under the age of six...he hisses alot, I soon realized the reason for his hisses was children at the age torched the cat, believe he's fearful of being pulled by the tail Beautiful cat he loves being touched, Only time will tell what type of cat he will turn out to be he's 2years old, didn't want the owner to give him to human society, he was on the waiting list, heartbreaking to adopt animal from the human society they are scared, and scarred damaged goods. Wish me luck. Thank YOU for the information.
I have had many Bengals over the years and had one older one left now, unfortunately a beautiful Bengal walked into my home 2 weeks ago, this guy is a devil, he bites and is very aggressive, unfortunately it’s not his fault but came from a bad home, food deprived and it appears his been hit and has since become very aggressive. I’m trying my best to integrate him and give him a beautiful large home, lm really struggling with this guys aggressive behaviour when he would attack me for no reason and spits continuously at my older cat, lm just so sad right now as nothing is working and humans have failed this little guy, everyone just throws him out of the house and he moves onto another house.
I’m getting a bengal and I’ve never owned a cat before, but I’m taking care of a stray in my neighborhood u til my baby bengal comes. And we’ll be in school and my parents will be at work and he will be left alone for three hours. And I’m wondering something bad will happen in those hours. My family owns a lot of fish tanks, and I don’t know what to do, or cure his boredom in those three hours he’s alone.
Please make a video on:- If its possible to adopt a bengal cat when your student, specially Medical student. Is it possible to adopt a cat when you live alone as a student in a small apartment? How much time should you spend with bengal cat? I would really appreciate if you make a video about this!
It's definitely possible to adopt a cat if you live alone in a small apartment! I have a lot of articles discussing the Bengal breed and living in small apartments on my website! www.monsieurtn.com Thanks for your suggestion!
I have a Bengal/ Tabby mix and she leans very much toward her Bengal genes. She is very high energy and wants to be everywhere all the time. She's very vocal and you will quickly learn what each of her calls will mean. She loves to climb and always wants to be high up- but it depends on each cat. Giving her lots of items to hunt and places to hide as she stalks her toys is important! Keeping her mind busy is super important, even as a 5 month old kitten. The more we give them to do the better behaved they are. I live in a studio apartment and take her on walks through the hallways during the day and outside when the weather is nice. If you are thinking of doing that introduce the harness to them quite early on. I work from home so I get to spend basically all my time with her, but she does well when she is left alone as well. Cats are very much into routine, much like a young child. Pickles currently wakes me up before my alarm at 5:45am we have play time, I go out and leave her for an hour, we get back and have about 2 hours of playtime and running around, then she sleeps from noon-7/8pm. After that she is up and energized reaching peak zoomies at 11:30pm, then settles down at midnight.
Emma Ferguson wow that’s incredible! But as a Medical student its maybe a bit difficult; I live in a Hostel, I should be outside from 7:00 till 19:00, at home i should also study a lot, i can separate just 20 min- 40min each day for a cat except Saturdays and Sundays. What do you think would i be able to handle if i get a bengal??
@@muezzal2702 it could be quite challenging as Bengals are fairly high maintenance- they are essentially very smart toddlers. Every cat is different but mine starts her calls when I don’t pay attention to her for more than 30 seconds. If you are wanting a bengal it might be worth holding off until you have more time to dedicate to the animal.
It would be perferct for me husband no. He always doesnt like all the meowing. If she knocks something over gosh end of the world. He love our cat playing with them holding them feeds them .the high energy would be a issue. Being a cop his sleeping hours would cause issues . Well they are mixed but awesone cats i take one if i could
I have a three month old Bengal. He wants to play with my 20lb dog all the time but he's really starting bother the dog as he has way more energy than her. Should I get another Bengal to keep him entertained or would it just be double the trouble for my dog? I chose a Bengal for their hypoallergenic coat. My son has allergies but has been fine with the Bengal.
Hello, I’m getting a Bengal cat soon and I’ve come across your channel recently. I wanted to get your thoughts on getting a cat exercise wheel. I noticed you have one and wanted to see if you would recommend it and which one you would recommend. Your videos are awesome keep it up!
I love my cat wheel for my Bengal cat (it's really a life saver sometimes) but unfortunately there isn't many cat wheel products in the west other than the well known ones like OneFastCat - however, if you're living in Asia there's a bunch of different cat wheels available. I tried to find some of the brands I know online - but unfortunately they don't ship overseas (probably due to how big the wheels are). Here's my guide to cat wheels if you're curious: monsieurtn.com/complete-cat-wheel-guide/.
Yes, definitely get a Cat Wheel for a Bengal. I have one & my Bengal runs like a maniac in it multiple times every day. Also my Burmese does the same as well.
