what i love about We Spread is that the writing is so sparse and exact, and 100 pages fly by and you dont even realize it, just like how years at the home go by without Penny realizing it… just amazing

I also read Such sharp teeth and Daphne in October! I gave them 5 and 4 stars respectively. Rachel Harrison has so entertaining writing style! And I also can’t wait to check out more books from Malerman, I think he’s such a creative writer even if I’m not vibing with everything he does (Bird box was a dnf for me).

It's so interesting to me, having read The Weight of Blood as someone who grew up in the south because a lot of people who say that parts of it felt anachronistic, especially the separate proms are things that I'm just like "nope, backwoods alabama, 2014, sounds right".

I just finished The Dead Romantics this week and sadly I have it 3.5 stars. There were great quotes in it so I want to buy a copy and read it again to highlight them. I don't think it helped that I set the book down to read other books. And I did have a couple issues with it that I can't get into because of spoilers. But I'm really happy that you liked it 💖

I highly recommend Fat & Bones by Larissa Theule since you mentioned liking that Eric LaRocca’s new novella has bugs and animals giving perspectives. I picked this up on a whim at a $1 book warehouse and it has become one of my favorites. The art is fantastic and very scary stories to tell in the dark as well.

Oh Gabby, I just can’t do horror or sci fi, I’m a wuss. We Spread sounds good although I’ve had 2 relatives with Alzheimer’s so it might be too much, I shall see. When you go into full horror mode, I start to tackle your other past recommendations to catch up a bit. My favorite reads in October Still just a geek by will wheaton his memoir Bag of bones by Stephen king this book is underrated it's really good definitely better than the adaptation starring pierce Brosnan The dead zone by Stephen king I really enjoyed this book especially the character Johnny and his love intrest I totally understand why people say that it's one of kings best books
