I always want to do this but when I finish a book I can’t start a new one in the same day since the story of the first one will remain in my head for too long so I can’t concentrate on a different setting within the story
@@khushbooprasad6519 hahaha I get that too! I finished The Help a couple of days ago and I didn't know what to do with myself. It might just be my new favorite.. It's such a good book!!
I read like a book a year so I don't know if this like works but if you read 1 book in the same place so when you finish the book then you find a new spot to sit at. Idk if this would work or help like I pointed out I am a very slow reader but I have just found a new book! Happy reading everyone!!!
I feel you SaraM, i just finished reading all the hunger game books, and I need a little break just to process the story and be happy with myself before I start a new book.
Once i red a book that had 900 pages and then i didn't have any new book and my mom didn't buy book for me after one month💘and thats why i only read 50 pages a day😑
She looks like a character from Jane Austen 😍 so cute and beautiful! I'd love to recomend a Brazilian author to you, sweet, it's Clarice Lispector. You'd love her writtings. XO
whenever I don't feel like reading, I just watch readathons like this and I am really amazed with this one! 😍 You're one of my inspirations in terms of studying and reading, keep going Ruby! 💞
Fun fact: Hermione was actually supposed to have a little sister, but Rowling waited too long to introduce her and thought it would be awkward at that point :)
I ran out of motivation to read for yeaaars (since I left high school until last year when I was 19). I read constantly before then, and had been doing since I was a child. So far this year I've managed to read 4 books, not a lot by all means but an achievement for me. I aim to read so many more during the rest of the year!
TashaHill that’s a great achievement! Four books is a great number. I know I used to read like 20 books a year and now I read 100-200 a year and honestly reading less is far more enjoyable, you actually remember every book I can’t even remember what I read last month.
I don’t like reading too many books in a day.It hurts my eyes, books are expensive if you buy them, and I feel like I need to ‘digest’ what I just read after finishing a book. This takes around 2-3 days.
@@Sunflower-bo2mc there are also some online second hand book shops, maybe they deliver to your country. Check it out. :) Since I know them I buy all of my books there. And the city library is always a good option. Also in times like That it’s possible in my city to order them online.
Honestly just take your time and receive at your own pace. It's better method a than what shes doing if you really want to understand everything the book has to offer
As an English learner who comes from a place where no one speaks English, I take my time when reading. I mean, I reaaaally take my time. There’s so many words I don’t understand 🥺
She must read like a page per second. I don't get how she reads so fast. I was rereading paper towns this last 3 days and I was so happy bc I thought I was fast lmao
I’m so glad you did the read-a-thon again! It’s such a fun challenge and I’m so impressed by the amount of books you read! I only was able to read 5! 😁
The amount of books you are able to read also depends on the amount of pages though. So don't worry if you can "only" read two books. At the end of the day reading is not a competition and more a relaxing way of spending your time :)
This chick has extreme focus - can any of you imagine what you could do with yourselves (think about your personal situation) if you had or could cultivate that much laser focus
Ruby, you're an enormous inspiration to me. Thank you so much for your optimism, your kindness, and your spirit. During this rough time, you've encouraged me to become productive once again and not waste away my days with too much leisure. I hope to see you flourish even more in the future.
Hi Ruby, is there any speed-reading technique that you have learnt and now use to read so fast? Because to me it looks incredible to read so much in one day, and I definitely would love to!
I think is useless reading 7 books in less than a day. You should enjoy what you read. This challenges are so silly. I don't understand who is trying to impress reading all this books in 16 hours.
This is amazing ruby! I’m a med student and I don’t have much time to read books (or maybe it’s hard to prioritize reading books) but the more you read, you know how important it is to read. It just makes you wiser but at the same time, reading brings lots of imagination. Love you read-a-thon. Makes me want to read again🤎
Hey, How does it feel like being a med student in Korea ? In fact, Korea is setting a gold standard in managing this crisis and progression is so impressive. How did you guys create such collaborative culture. I saw even children donate with their piggy banks. We definitely should admire not only your culture but your warm hearts.
Harsha Kumara I think dealing with the mers outbreak did help us! and we kinda have the together-we-can-do spirit haha but there are more things in the inside if you actually live here than just seeing it from the outside. Stay safe☺️
Yay!!!! A read-a-thon video😍😍😍 those are my favourite. Thank you!!!! I also love your study with me! Have you though about doing read with me videos? But thank you so much for this one, it just made my day❤❤❤
Actually, Thomas Mann and his family are very...let's say interesting. They're the most famous German family when it comes to literature. Thomas Mann for an instance was attracted to young boys, which is very obvious in "death in venice" and due to that he had a very difficult relationship to his sons because he felt so disgusted of his attraction to his own sons. Because of that, the boys really suffered mentally throughout their lives. There were a lot of other "scandals" in the family (for example the oldest son had a sexual relationship with his sister) so if you'd be interested in that you could look into it.
I wouldnt say that he is the most famous German author... Also, you should be careful calling him a pedophile just because he wrote a novella about an older man's attraction to a teenager. Stating rumours about the family as truths is disrespecful as well. There is no proof that two of his children had an incestuous relationship. He was pretty open about is homosexuality in his later years, but again, no proof that he felt sexually attracted to his own children. I dont know what your sources are but I doubt that they are reputable.
@@sahralenny I don't know if he was a paedophile, as in being attracted to actual small children, but as far as i know he was attracted to boys in their teenage years. He wrote about that in his journals. And I didn't mean to say that he was the most famous author, I'm sorry I didn't make that clear enough. What I wanted to say was that there were a lot of rather famous authors in his family (thomas' father, his son,...),making the family as a whole very famous.
Hi ruby I’d love to be able to do a readathon like this but being severely dyslexic although I love reading it would be far to exhausting. Your such an inspiration and I love your channel. Sending love from Scotland and hope you and your family are all holding up okay with this crisis. Stay safe x
dbhdis i I’ve not tried them yet but I’ll give them a go. Thank you so much. I’ve always loved reading but it’s like a chore most of the time instead of being enjoyable. 💕
I'm dyslexic too and this has always been a problem to me, but I continued reading like crazy and forcing myself to be better each time I tryied to read more. Today I study Literature in the best uni at my country and I'm almost graduating. So don't give up sis, things get better :)
Marina Grubli thank you so much. Omg I’m so proud. I couldn’t study literature unfortunately the amount of reading involved I don’t think I’d manage it. I have managed to get into cyber security which tbh I don’t know if it’s better or worse when it comes to reading and spelling. Take care ❤️
Ruby says the 15 pages l really not enjoyed it did take me a whole 12 hours to finished this book and ruby says l eat 56 bananas 🍌🍌🍵and l get sick at hospital , and ruby has rereads the bad book that she hated ,,and ruby says the mom's milk dropping down the floor**..🔅🔅🔅
11:08 What piano music is that? It sounds like "Fjäriln vingad syns på Haga" by Bellman: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kaC5_1MYhB0.html
I am currently reading 2 books a week (like been doing it for the past 3 weeks) .. and it is so enjoyable... Also thanks for the recommendation for The Picture of Dorian Gray,am listening to its audiobook and it is so good so far.. Read Train to Pakistan by Khushwant Singh this morning and plan to read The Night by Ellie Wiesel over the weekend... 😊 ..
i like how you filmed this. it’s a reading vlog and i like seeing people read on different locations and not just talk how much they’ve read in the same spot in their room, it’s boring. lovelove the videoo, pls make more 😄
okay so im starting to think that you actually relate to Hermoine Granger from harry potter because she loved reading loads of books too :) btw shes my favourite character :)
I am not a speed reader, but a speed watcher... it's much easier. I started watching everything at my PC with 1.3x speed and increased gradually, now I am watching everything at 1.8x speed at least. It doesn't affect my enjoyment negatively at all, quite the contrary, I now find the normal pace to be dull because I became too empatient lol.
Duży Pokój I feel like watching videos are different. Maybe because I’m a big watcher of the beauty community and let me tell you... sometimes 2x speed is not fast enough lol. They will ramble for 4 minutes about stuff nobody cares about in the beginning, or talk about one product for 10 minutes, it’s insane. Whereas with a book, you’re hoping all the details will lead to something and not just filler words so you want to play more attention??
I really wanna try this challenge and I think I will try it at the weekend. Btw how do u get out of book so fast and start a new one immediately? I like to think about the book , that I have finished at least for a few hours, before starting a new one. Also which is your fav novel of all time? You have a really good taste for books, so I would love to know. Greetings from Bulgaria 🇧🇬
I couldn’t do this - don’t have time to sit and read one book in a day, but more importantly, I need time to get over the book hangover before I can dive into the world of another book. Aside from that, you read super fast, essentially 2 pages a minute, and you took breaks....
This doesn't quite add up: at 9:45 she's on page 75 and 55minutes later she's at page 152 - so she's read 77 pages in undr and hour. Then in under 20 minutes she's read about 48 pages. So speed change of 1 pages per minute! If even remotely true, must be amazingly fast reader at speead of between 700-800 words per minutes!!!
I know my reading speed changes depending on how exciting/dense the material is -- on average, my reading speed for fiction (when not speed reading, which I will sometimes do with academic papers) is 400-500 words per minute though x
I don't think a page per minute is too unrealistic? I tend to read between 1/2 a page and 2 pages a minute, tends to the quicker with fiction and slower with dense academic text. What confuses me more than being able to read so fast is being able to really enjoy/understand books if reading them in one sitting. I could never read more than 2 books a day; it's not about speed, it's just about wanting to have time to process and enjoy them. 48 pages in 20 minutes seems really fast!
She read around 1500 pages in 16 hours... If you substract the time she took in between to make food and explain stuff, that's 100 pages an hour, non-stop. Not really buying it unless you're skimming through the pages. Yes, you CAN do it, but how much sticks? Is it fun? Or is it a competition? A lot of the things she's reading have sentences that are meant to make you stop and enjoy the way they are built up etc etc. You can't do that if you rush over them. To each their own but if I see these kind of videos I always get the feeling that it's more rushrushrush to be able to say an insane number more than really to read, understand, and enjoy the book.
I just watched all your read videos today they motivate me to read more and I start following you on good reads a very good app thanks to have made me discover it so I’m so excited to see this video 🥰✨✨✨💙💙💙
To anyone comparing themselves because they read slowly or don’t read that offend, as long as you’re attempting to read more or reading something you’re already doing amazing
This is amazing🥰! You must feel so proud and happy with yourself! And I love how they are books that I’ve never heard of before. You have serious willpower lol. Thanks for the video ✨
How you maintain concentration, manage (back) cramps and avoid being bored? I read around 200 pages/day, probably can finish 1 book in 2 days. It’s so hard to maintain the concentration though :’(
Ruby! I love you but it looks like the bear is winking in the clip where you show the book Island. I am terrified :D Is it just me that saw it??? (please forgive my english if it's weird, it's not my first language :))
Wait a minute ! If you just do this for 5 days in a year + 1 book everyday , in the end of the year you would read 400 books ! And in 5 years 2000 book ! Dude just wait a minute ! Whaaaat ?.... Where is ma book ...I'm gonna do that !!!
I hope you are keeping a book journal of the books you've read. I have a hard cover journal and I write one line for each: Date, Title, author, fiction or non fiction, my 0-5 rating, and what # book that is for the year. If it's audio I'll note that and who narrated. I've had my journal since 1999 - probably a long time before you were even born :) - My only regret is not starting the journal when I was your age. I now also use GoodReads. Some prefer a spreadsheet. I prefer both online and absolutely a hardcover journal. It's interesting to see what topics I was into at the time and also how my reading tastes have also changed over time. Even though I am much older than you, I love your channel. You are an inspiration.
Wtf people reading here 6000 words a minute or something. And I’m like at 200 words per minutes that would mean it would take me approximately 12.5 hours to read one book that has around 300 pages.
How are you able to read 7 books in 16 hours!!! I take almost 2 months to finish a book!! i mean Im a realllyyy slow reader but i thoroughly enjoy my reading...i like to read and absorb each and every line maybe thats why im so slow hahaaa
Hi ! I just want you to know that every time i need the motivation tu study, I just watch your videos and then I’m motivated ahahah thank you guapa !!! 🇪🇸
What someone gains by doing this? It is only for the sake of amount. That makes no sense to me. You will forget all these stories in a couple of days. I seriously do not understand the point of doing that, one can gain nothing with that. You have 0 time to absorb each story and the deep messages that might be hidden inside them. It is impossible to read 7 books in 16h and absorb everything they had to tell you. It is really sad that such things are being shared on internet. It makes people only want to read more. Books are nothing like they were before...
i love the maze runner series! it's one of my favourites, i really have to reread it. if you haven't already, i highly recommend you watch the movie; at the very least the first one (which is the only one i've watched so far) is, while different from the book, still amazing. who's your favourite character?
Ruby .. thanks a lot for everything you do!!!! U have always inspired me n have been the only source of motivation for me in 2020 when I restarted my studies after one year ! ❤❤❤
YES!! Your Read-a-Thon posts are my absolute FAVORITE so I was so excited to see this! Thank you Ruby! I've just realized I almost never see you reading a Kindle (or other e-book reader)...
Hi Ruby just wanted to let you know that you are an amazing youtube and always get me in a good mood and make me want to do something productive once I watch ur videos thx for helping me get through these tough times, love u and hope u r doing great
Do you really enjoy the book to it’s full potential if you read them so fast one after another? To me it feels like you are missing out on the joy of indulging yourself in the story and having a trace of it left afterwards.
